FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

My 2004 grand prix gt has had an acceleration hesitation or stall (engine shuts down) since purchase (august /04). two different sensors have been replaced, but it has failed again. recently when leaving work; engine relatively cold, had to accelerate to enter highway traffic and engine stalled and died. dealerships have been unable to duplicate since it is extremely intermittent.

The car accelerates without the operator depressing the accelerator pedal. here were two near miss crashes when the car was being driven in town and accelerated by itself . one incident was when my preganant wife nearly struck a train. *ak the actual date of the incident below is not correct, i do not have that information with me. i do know that the first time was in january of 2004.

Upon cold startup vehicle will stall, hesitate or surge upon the first press of the accelerator pedal. computer has been replaced and reprogrammed on prior attempts along with new throttle bodies and stalling no longer present, but hesitation and surging are still present. service engine soon lamp has started illuminating. code is p0452 for the fuel tank pressure sensor. according to a gm administrative message to dealers on 4/2/04, dealers are advised to order fuel tank pressure sensor p/n 16238399 instead of p/n 09377680. fuel tank pressure sensor p/n 09377680 has proved to be unreliable and it is likely to fail again shortly after installation. production change to use p/n 16238399 is scheduled for mid-april. dealer will be replacing sensor on subsequent visit. *jb
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - DELIVERY - FUEL PUMP
11/01/20075006/01/2006
I've read two other complaints (10187874 - 10154674) in regards to the no-start. i've had concerns with this for over a year. rarely, the car will start fine. mostly, i found that i must give acceleration at start-up for a successful start. otherwise, the car will either not catch or it'll jerk and stall out. other than this, the car is fine. it's annoying, but i've grown used to it since it's on an every-day level. i live in tn, so we are in relatively warm climate. it's not an issue of weather. i contacted my local pontiac retail facility and they advised me they have two other gp's with the same issue. they said it may be the fuel pump going out. i haven't taken it in yet. *tr
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM

I purchased a 2004 pontiac gran dprix gt2 in june of that same year. one week later the repairs began. the most scary occurring on the date mentioned on this complaint, may 26, 2005, eleven months after i purchased the vehicle. my car died while driving 65 mph on the highway with my three small children in the back seat. the car had no power whatsoever, no steering, no gas, no lights, nothing. i thank god we are alive. the mechanics at the dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty ignition switch. after this incident i rented a car at my own expense for eight weeks. we did not step foot in the vehicle for that period of time. for financial reasons i slowly began driving my car again. there were repairs before that event as well as afterwards. these include the brain, transmission, brakes, axle, wheel bearings, steering, sunroof, fuel injectors, and safety belts. *jb
