I have had my 2007 grand prix for 5 years now and it has about 55,000 miles on it. in november of 2011, i paid century buick gmc (tampa, fl) to replace the ignition module and crank sensor because my car had died while on my way to work. on october 1, 2012, i brought my car in because it again died while driving to work. at this point, i paid another $550 to replace the ignition module since i did not realize it was the same part from the year before. then again on saturday, november 10, 2012, my car died while driving on the highway (70 mph) at night. it was a very upsetting, frustrating and scary situation to be in and i can

The low beams just stopped working but all other lights were fine. first it happened when we were driving at night to go home. tried all types of ways such as set the alarm off on the car which worked for a few minutes to reset the lights. then the low beams went off again. we replaced the headlights, the fuse for the headlamps. this worked for about three weeks, then again driving at night they turned off. nothing worked to get the low beams back on. found out the fuse caught on fire in the fuse box and now we are having to replace the relay box as well plus it damaged other fuses. so we have to replace those too. i feel this is very dangerous to drivers not only driving the car but other cars around us at that time. *tr

First the headlights went out and wouldn't work on dim or bright. i replaced the relay fuse to the headlights, they still would not work. next i replaced the switch on the steering wheel that controlled the lights. a few months later the fuse box caught on fire. i still have not been able to have the car repaired. *tr

While driving the headlamps will cut off at night without warning. it is a random occurrence. lights will cut off for a minute or two before coming back on. this happens about once or twice a month. *tr

While driving at night my lights will stop working, the high beams will work however the low beams will just stop working. this has happened multiple times. also after i turn and my blinker turns off the high beam lights turn on. is there not a recall or some sort of fix for the lights?!! *tr

Driving on the highway at 70 mph and all of a sudden the car shuts down, like someone unplugged the engine. this was the most horrific moment in my life, semi trucks zooming past me. finally made my way to the side of the highway and had to call a tow truck, car was towed home and the tow truck guy put the key in the ignition and it started right up. drove the car to work and it shut down again this time i was only doing 35 mph. i waited for about 30 min and the car started right back up, on my home from work it did it agin. the following week it did it agian, took the car to a gm ceritified mechanic but of course they could not find a problem, picked the car up and drove it for a few days it happened again, took it back to the gm mechanic, still couldn't find anything wrong, picked it up a week later same issue. to sum it up i have had the ignition module and the crank sensor shaft and still can not locate th problem. the car is too dangerous to drive and now it's just sitting in my driveway and won't start at all. gm really needs to take a look at this situation brfore someone gets really hurt, the car is defective.

I was driving down the road on a saturday night when all of a sudden the road became dark. i got out to see if my headlights were on and they weren't . so i got back in the car and began to change the headlight switch from automatic to on. nothing. then i went from low beam to high and again nothing. they i had my fuse box changed as well as the ground wire. nothing. i began to research only to find out alot of people have started to have this problem starting august 2010 until present (10/2011).

Traveling and about to merge onto the interstate (speed of 75 mph) turned left turn signal to begin merge and all exterior head lights went black, no low beams nor high beams nor even parking lights existed! rotated through lighting switch options repeatedly in hope of regaining sight - nothing. pulled off to shoulder and parked car. thankfully noone was behind me! hazzards worked, all other outer lights worked, all interior lights worked. checked both fuse boxes - nothing blown. after 20 minutes low beams on manual setting came on - no other option available. very cautiously drove the remaining 90 minutes to home. had car checked at dealership, unable to duplicate problem. unable to diagnose problem. this has been occuring at random. very scared! still unable to get a diagnosed problem. hundreads spent on trouble shooting problem without resolution. this is not a safe vehicle - and was purchased outright as a family vehicle with less than 30,000 miles on it! mad!!

Headlights low beam randomly turn off during night driving. when using turn signal the headlight high beam turns-on and cannot be turned off with switch, the only way to turn-off high beam is to press forward on turn signal

The low beam headlamps randomly turn off while driving. we have tried using the auto setting, and the on setting and it happens either way. the lamps are fine, the fuses are fine, the wiring is fine. we are unable to locate the problem. this makes the car nearly impossible to drive at night. it is very dangerous to be doing 55 mph and have this happen.

A couple of months ago (april maybe) as i drove home from bible study the road suddenly became very dark...as the road is in a poorly lit suburban area i noticed the difference immediately and flicked my light switch in the car at which time the lights came back on. i thought to myself, 'that's odd', but really did not make too much of it. (it was a typical rainy spring night in va and the road i traveled is extremely dark with headlights and curvy, luckily i am familiar with the bends and twists as i travel the road at least four times a week. i shudder to think of what could have happened if a less experienced drive or someone less familiar with the bends and twists of this ditch lined road had been driving when the lights suddenly and inexplicably stopped working). a couple of weeks ago, again as i left bible study, my low beams stopped working again. i was still in the parking lot at the time so i got out of the car to be sure and several church members also came over to see what the problem was. this time, the low beams did not come back on. i drove home with my high beams on and hoped the issue would resolve itself by morning. alas, it did not. i began the quest to find the problem and was told that the problem was the fuse box...it was not. i was told that the problem was the actual switch...it was not. finally, i took my car to tidewater auto electric and they diagnosed the problem as follows....removed bcm to pin check. no output from bcm to low beam relay module. checked resistance from bcm to fuse box all wiring ok. needs bcm replaced also needs low beam relay module. it was explained to me in laymens terms that the computer was bad and had to be replaced and that the signal from the light switch to the fuse box was bad as well and had to be repaired. this repair cost me 694.07 for a vehicle that is just over two years old. this defect seems to be something worth looking into as it could prove extremely hazardous in certain conditions. *tr

Driving home on memorial day, night through traffic, people yelling to turn turn your lights on. my lights on my 2007 pontiac grand prix are automatic. i have driven my car all week long only to find out that i do not have any headlights. the fuse block has gone bad and my low beams do not work. there is no alarm, notice that goes off to tell me this. my lights when i turn them on manually do not say that they are not working. everything appears to be fine in side the car. you just have not headlights, low beams, only high beams. *tr
