Tl*the contact owns a 2002 pontiac montana. the contact stated that the head gasket and the intake gasket had corroded from a cooling leak. she also experienced overheating and the only coolant that the dealer is telling her to use is dex cool. the contact stated that this type of coolant has been known to cause failures and that there should be some other type of coolant to use. she stated that the power door on the passenger side has signs of corrosion, the fuel gauge is erratic and prevents her from knowing the amount of fuel in the vehicle, the driver side front tire hub is loose, the overhead console for the temperature and compass has failed, and the air conditioning has a hole in the hose. according to the manufacturer, since the contact changed her own oil, that is the reason she is experiencing so many failures. therefore, the manufacturer stated that they are not liable. the vin is unknown. the current and failure mileages were 70,000.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 65mph, on newly purchased snow tires, road debris was noticed. the vehicle was pulled to the side of the road for inspection and all four tires showed tread separation on the sidewall. after replacing the tires with the same brand, the vehicle began to operate roughly. while the vehicle was traveling 50mph, it rode as if the tires were uneven. at the local repair shop, the mechanic noticed bubbles on all four tires. the tires were returned to the tire dealer where the tires were traded for a different brand. the tires are made of recycled material and are manufactured by green diamond. the tire size is 215/70/r15.

Upon washing my 2002 pontiac montana minivan today, i noticed that the right front tire (general xp2000 gt - p215/70r15) has approximately 14 inches of sidewall separation. i commute 2 hours to work each day on the interstate and would not have noticed this if i had not been washing my tires. my husband inspects the tread and air frequently. i shutter to think what may have happened to me or any of my four children had this gone undetected. i bought this vehicle last fall from a used car dealership. my husband specifically asked the dealer about the tires and was told that the vehicle was gm certified and had at least 50,000 miles worth of wear left on them. *jb
