| On the morning of oct.27, 2010 while my husband was trying to leave from pt and come home of post the car would not start (pontiac torrent) he had to have it jumped just to start it. after the car turned over he found that there was no power streeing. he managed to get it to the dealers that we have bought it from to see what the problem/s were. we now have no car for work doctors and to get the things we need. the car (pontiac torrnet) is now at the dealership to see whats wrong and if they can fix the problem. | |||

| I was on the freeway when the steering wheel went out. i tried to pull off the rode but ran into a ditch and damaged one of my tires. i could not turn the wheel it was very hard to steer, i made it to a exit and found a local auto zone. i was informed it was electric and the part had to be purchased from the dealer. i had to have my car towed over a hundred miles which was very expensive. the dealership estimated charges totaling $700.00. the vehicle is only 2 years old. i'm a single parent and currently i am not able to afford the repairs so my vehicle is parked until i can save up the money. i think its a waste i'm paying a note for vehicle i'm not able to drive. help!!!! *tr | |||

| Driving the 2007 pontiac torrent at 70 mph, without any warning steering locked up and had no steering control. got stopped in on coming traffic lane,thank goodness there was no traffic. steering wheel was still locked up, shut off engine and checked outside of vehicle, started vehicle and had steering. too it to dealer and he said he fixed it. went to denver and was driving down i-25 luckily on the side lane when steering locked up again and this time i went into a snowbank , stopped inches before hitting retaining wall. shut it off and started it and had steering again. took car back to dealer and had for 3 weeks and says it's fixed, but won't tell if it is going to run off the road again. this vehicle has almost killed my family and i twice. *nm | |||

| Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) i am the owner of a 2007 ponitac torrent which has the worse system in place than the cobalt and g6 you just recalled. it has an electronic assist power steering unit in the torrent that has completely failed me two times, both while driving the car, and has completely and totally locked up where i can't even get it out of the way of traffic, and it has to be towed from the spot it stops at. and dealer i have dealt with has told me to get rid of it because it will happen again. but with the money i have already spent, it is tough to now buy another car. the unit has been replaced twice, and i expect to happen again any time now. please look into this as well. it happened last august, and about 1 1.2 years ago. i have the bills with the correct dates at home. tr updated ivoq 06/02/10 | |||

| Vehicle was parked, started vehicle, ran for 10 minutes, attempted to back out of parking space and found no power steering. could barely turn wheel. managed to get car home (1 mile). upon arrival home, dash light service stabilitrak lit up. car flat bedded to dealer. reset computer according to code by tsb. second occurrence - first time in late june...stabilitrak and traction control lights lit. since this is electric steering i am concerned that this will occur while driving... vehicle is 5 weeks old. *jb | |||
