Defect SummaryOne or more of the bolts mounting the steering rack to the chassis of the vehicle may have been stretched, due to over torquing in the manufacturing process, causing some of the bolts to loosen.
Consequence SummaryThe loose mounting bolts may allow the steering rack toshift which would result in a non-centered steering wheel, less precisesteering control, and damage to the steering rack.
Corrective SummaryReplace the steering rack bolts with bolts of a higher strength; replace the steering rack if it is damaged.

Defect SummaryThe rear engine compartment cover near the cruise control servo motor slips, causing the safety clip in the servo motor arm to bind due to insufficient clearance. if the cruise control cable binds, the engine does not return to idle when the cruise control function is disengaged, resulting in the vehicle speed not being reduced as expected.
Consequence SummaryWhen the vehicle speed is not reduced when the cruisecontrol is disengaged, stopping distance increases which can result in a vehicleaccident.
Corrective SummaryInstall a bolt and washer on the rear engine compartment cover to prevent slipping and to insure the necessary clearance between the safety clip and the cover.
NotesSystem: cruise control.vehicle description: passenger cars.note: porsche cars n.a. inc. advises not to use the cruise control system untilthe corrective action is accomplished.
