I took my 1996 plymouth neon for an inspection sticker and oil change, and was told i need two new tires (weather cracked) and a new head gasket. i found that this is an extremely common problem with neons, and was told by a friend that he had been reimbursed for the same problem in his 1999 neon by 50%. the same dealer told me that the warranty had run out, and i was not eligible. however, i feel this was a problem with the maufacturing, and do not feel i should be responsible for the payment.*ak

C/k3500 crew cab with automatic transmission. while carrying a load down mountain pass, second gear in the transmission gave up the ghost! this transmission failure causes an extremely dangerous situation where the vehicle can gain great speed in a very short time due to the loss of engine breaking going down grade. *jb
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC - ANTILOCK
04/15/1998 | 15 | 3 | 12/17/1996 |
Antilock braking system failure. 3 rear end bump ups. at low speeds (10 - 20 mph) on wet or changing road conditions (railroad tracks) the vehicle will not stop in less than 15 - 20 feet. under these conditions at faster speeds, breaks lock up and emit grinding noise. advised chevrolet dealership and had truck checked prior to any accidents and they state nothing wrong. attempted again at chevrolet dealership (didn't have checked again) and told them the problem but they didn't want to listen. my dealership encounters on this matter was in mid 98 and again in late 98. i now try not to drive the vehicle during rain or other bad weather. *nm
TIRES - TREAD/BELT | |||
01/01/2005 | 112000 | 3 | 08/20/2000 |
Over a period of six months i have had 3 tires separate on my vehicle. i purchased all of the tires (futura dakota lt 265/75r16) from pep-boys on 12/07/2002. starting in june of 2004, i have had a total of 3 tires separate on me while traveling at highway speeds. the incidents were august 2004, september 2004 and january 2005. these tires were all on a 1996 chevrolet k2500. the tires were kept in balance, proper inflation and have been rotated on a regular basis. while pep-boys has kept their road hazard warranty, and honored it, there is a serious concern in my mind about the reliability of these tires. to have 3 tires fail, with under 10,000 miles on them is of great concern.*ak |
