| The first time my car was parked, and my keys were in my purse, i was getting something out of my trunk. my car moved forward and hit the concrete pillar in the parking garage, my bumper was damaged on the left drivers side. this scared me. the second time my 77 year old mother was sitting in the car,the car was in park the keys were removed and in my purse, my car moved backward. my mother was freaked out,and she was trying to get out of the car when i returned to the car. the 3rd time was just last week, again my car was parked, my keys were in my pocket and my car moved forward and almost hit another car. | |||

| I was in the process of parking my vehicle at the grocery store with my 1 year old daughter. i went to put my car in park and it was very difficult to do so. i thought that something may have occluded the gear shift, so i took the car out of park and attempted to shift into the different gears and it eventually became impossible to shift any further and my car was stuck in drive. the vehicle was taken to our usual mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission gear shift cable was all but separated. i researched a bit on the internet where around 400,000 other vehicles (pontiacs, chevrolet malibus, saturn auras) had the same issue that i was having and saw a bulletin issued for september 18, 2012 warning of this particular issue of the gear shift cable becoming separated and that individuals may think the car is in park when the vehicle may really be in a different gear and the vehicle may roll away. i called the general motors headquarters regarding this situation, they informed me that the vehicle would have to be diagnosed at a general motors dealership before anything regarding compensation could be discussed. vehicle was towed to superior chevrolet in conway, ar where the same thing was said about the gear shift cable. called gm headquarters again, the stated that there was no recall regarding my issue, and if i wanted to be reconsidered for compensation, the repair would have to be completed at the dealership. the car was repaired at the dealership costing $625 including the tow bill. gm still maintained that the repair was not under a safety recall, i would not be compensated and for my troubles at $100 cash letter good at any gm dealership. spoke with larry with nhtsa about this situation and i was asked to provide my statement. | |||

| Came home and attempted to park in driveway. upon attempting to park car would not shift all the way into park initially. i attempted to put the car into park. after several attempts car seemed to be in park. at this point i exited the vehicle. upon returning to my drive way i found the car had drifted into my garage causing damage to my bumper and my right passenger side. car will not start unless its in neutral. gear shift will move to park but the car is not in park. similar complaints on nhtsa. spoke with gm and they're not taking any action until a recall is issued. so i have to pay for damages not caused by driving but by gm defect as well as pay gm to have car fixed since the car still will not stay in park causing a driving hazard. *tr | |||

| Attempted to start car, would not start in park, shifted it to neutral car started, attempted to put car in reverse discovered i had no reverse. was able to drive car home but when i attempted to put car in park and shut if off it would not allow me to do so. it appeared to be in ark but car continued to roll finally was able to get it to stay in park turned car off and put on emergency brake on. when i tried to start it again car would not start. | |||

| Only 2 months old, passenger air bag light, would read off when a normal size adult was in the seat. also on star reported air bag inoperative. alwaws had brake problems with rear pads wearing out way before the front. stearing wheel lock does not lock, and i noted this after 2 years, as my wife is the major driver of the car. i was so sick of the dealer, i replaced the master cylinder, rotors, with brembo, and used quality pads. the government should have gotten after gm! there are many complaints! | |||

| Transmission shifter cable failed. car at first would not shift into reverse, and later wouldn't go into park and could not be started. i am reporting this because this has happened with other 2007 saturn auras, and there have been several accidents involving problems with failure of the transmission shifter cable. despite an active investigation nhtsa action number : ea11015, and articles in the news stating gm is offering free repairs for customers who experience this problem, gm said they had no information regarding this problem and would not cover the repair. | |||

| Starting in mid-october, my 2007 saturn aura began showing signs that the shift lever was not working properly. my car would not engage in park when the lever indicated it was in park. the car would actually drift forward as if it was in neutral. i called the nearest saturn dealer and was told to take the car to a chevy dealer in case it was covered under warranty. the chevy dealer had my car for over a week to diagnose and fix the problem. they determined that the shifter needed to be replaced and that it would not be covered. they had to order the part and wait for it - in the meantime, i was paying for a rental car. after the shifter was replaced, the car showed the exact same problem the very next day after i picked it up. this time, the car not only did not engage in park properly, but it would not start again when it was in park. the car did start in neutral. i took it back to the chevy dealer and they tightend a cable at no charge. the day i picked it up, i drove it straigt to work and it would not engage in park, and it would not start in park or neutral. my car had to be towed from work. finally, the chevy dealer replaced the shifter cable that was noted to be a problem on this website. this happened the day after i forwarded the link about this problem to the dealer. the cable was replaced at no charge; however, i think i paid for a new shifter unnecessarily considering the replacement of the shifter did not improve the problem. | |||

| One of the structural welds in the driver seat frame has broken loose while driving. i called saturn customer service and explained the issue. they set up an appt with my local dealer to have it looked at. the dealership agreed with me that it was a defective component and in their exact words (nothing you (the owner) could have done, would have caused the weld to break) my gm district specialist worked with her manager, the manager's final decision was that only half the costs ($400 of the $800 total) would be covered since the car is out of warranty. i asked to speak to the manager about the issue and was advised that the manager will not take calls from customers. i offered to provide pictures of the break and was advised that they cannot receive email from customers. the pictures i have taken clearly detail the component was welded incorrectly and the dealership confirmed this. this is a structural weld in the frame of the seat that should not break regardless of the vehicles age. | |||

| 2007 saturn aura , 79,000miles. i am an owner of a gm vehicle as well as an employee of gm. sunday ,july 10, 2011. drove car for about a half hour returned home and stopped in drive way. placed vehicle in park , turned off ignition , removed key and released brake. car begins to roll down hill. depress brake to stop car. checked that prndl was in park, reinserted key to operate gear selector. vehicle would not go into park.then set emergency brake and looked under hood. cable connected to selector on top of transmission is broken and will not operate gear selector. the car is in drive or reverse and does not start. even after manually moving selector forward park will not be selected. | |||

| I drove into my garage to park the car. i put the car in park and the shifter shifted very hard. i decided to back the car out of the garage and when i went to put the car in park the gear did not engage. in fact, no gear would engage and the only way i could stop my car was to put on the parking break. i had it towed to my local dealership and they informed me that the shifter cable was broken. i started researching this problem and found that there was a recall for this exact same problem on the 2008 and 2009 saturn aura models, but not on the 2007 models which is of course the one i have. upon googling this problem it seems that there are several saturn aura 2007 model owners that have had this same problem. | |||
