Our 2007 saturn outlook experienced complete system failure -ie everything turned off while driving - more than once. after many trips, some by tow truck, to the dealership service department, gm finally resolved the issue by replacing the car's computer. this was after several near death experiences driving the car and suddenly being without brakes or steering. now the car leaks, filling the floor mats with water, splashing the driver with water at every change of speed. the seatbelts have black mold, and starting last week, the car isnt starting, likely due to water in the electrical system. we believe the water coming out of the air bag holes may prevent the air bags from functioning properly in a crash. we are not alone with these problems. please see ' saturn leaking sunroof' forum on edmunds.com for many more customer complaints just like ours. we have been in touch with gm but expect to be told to 'go to the dealer'.. again. the chevy dealer we use does not know how to resolve the issue, despite it being a widespread problem with this car (also the other makes of this same model). we do not believe the car is safe. this car was a lemon from the start, but nothing has been done about it.

Started car after work, right headlight did not come on. took it into the shop, had it replaced, $165. two weeks later left head light went out. a week after, right headlight went out again. took car into shop and paid double for both to be replaced. one month later left headlight went out again. was told by mechanic that harness for headlight had melted and needs replacing as well. have invested almost $700 in headlight repair in 12 weeks. *tr

1st incident: 10/02/2011 i was merging on to the highway, when i noticed my headlights became dim. i noticed by the reflection on the car in front of me that my driver side headlamp was out so i stop to buy a set of replacement bulbs. as i got in the car to go home from the auto part store, i noticed the driverside headlamp had came back on. 2nd incident: 10/20/2011 as i was driving down the road, i noticed driver side headlamp flicker and go out. i figure it was a blown bulb but i turned the headlamps switch off and back on, and the driver side headlamp came back on. *tr

If you drive this saturn through a puddle after a rainstorm, the power failure light comes on, the power steering stops working and the car is very difficult to steer...this almost caused a crash in a residential street. the temp gauge also goes up higher than normal and the lights dim. *tr

Sunroof leaking water into the passage compartment and down the front firewall and glove box compartment. water entered into the cover that hides the front a/c blower motor. motor is sitting in 1-2 inches of water. motor starting to corrode and stopped working. lucky there wasn't a fire. found utube video describing how to fix this problem. removed cover to blower and freed up blower motor corrosion. ordered a replacement blower motor. drilled 2 holes in this cover to allow future water collection a drainage route out of this cover. sunroof needs recalled and blower motors need recalled as well. http://youtu.be/fnykjlhusxi cost to repair this was $78 for part and about 1 hour labor. *tr

I purchased the vehicle approximately 2 years ago and i had to change the front headlight about one year later. i could not figure out how to change a simple part so i researched online and was able to successfully change the bulb. the bulb lasted a few months and then blew out again. i thought that i had a faulty $25-30 bulb so i bought another. i had to re-research how to change the bulb and this time i found out that other saturn outlook owners have had the same problem. i changed the bulb and it burned out after about two weeks. i could then see that the wire harness that plugs into the bulb was melted. i feel as though this is not good and has the potential to start a fire. please do something.

 1) car no longer shifts out of first gear (automatic transmission). 2) car continues to run for up to 30 seconds when the key is removed. dealer states that a water leak beginning at the sunroof leaks water onto the fuse area in the engine compartment causing failures requiring a fuse box replacement. the vehicle has had leaks leaving water on the headliner, front seats, front driver and front passenger floors in the past all repaired by the dealer under warrranty. dealer charges so far are $500 to repair the leak, $500 to replace the fusebox, and still not sure any of those repairs have resolved the two initial issues.

I noticed my outlook leaking water 3 mos. after i bought it. the airbags on passenger side stopped working. the car would not shut off in the garage. the dealer states its a leak that has allowed water to ruin the elctronics all over the vehicle. this is a problem all over the internet. no one can fix it.they have 7 tech bulletins...still no fix. the dealership wants 1500.00 to start loooking into the problem. please help me! i can't drive a moldy car with intermittent airbags and possible power steering malfunction with my kids in the car! this will bankrupt me. what do i do?? no one online has found a solution...just 1000's of dollars and scary situations on the road (defrost blowers breaking, losing power steering, engine quitting, water dumping on their laps). please make them recall this or help us fix it!

Water was leaking through the passenger side visor clip; the headliner above the passenger seat was wet. before the car died, the temp gauge read hot and the check engine light come on, rear hatch was not working, later to find out the rear switch shorted from water. the car was taken to a gm shop where they found a water leak that flooded the fuse box. the car was returned to us. the car was in the shop from 2/7/12 -2/23/12. when the car was returned the horn wasn't working , radio/nav screen was black, but you could hear the radio. the car was brought back on 2/29/. another leak was found. a water master replaced the seal and glass on the sunroof .the car was returned on 3/6/12. then we noticed the inside lights were not working along with the radio would not turn off and the outside temp reg. @ 82 degrees when in fact is was 42 degrees out along with condensation on 4/3.gm put out bulletins making the public aware of the potential issues due to inadequate drain tubes to prevent the problems above from happening. the repairs have failed. apparently, there is a several design flaws in these vehicles.there could be potential disastrous outcome from the persistent water leaks we are experiencing despite repairs done per service bulletins. we have researched this problem extensively and have read 100's of other saturn owners with the same issues; even after the repairs to prevent these problems. the edmunds forum is full of complaints.these cars are not safe and i'm just grateful i was'n

The driver's side headlight will work for awhile but then it will appear to be burnt out. the same thing has happened to the passenger side headlight several times. the lights will start working again (at least temporarily) when i switch from the auto light setting to manual and back again. i have read on several different websites that this is a common problem with the cause being the wiring harness for the lights. this appears to be a defect in the parts/materials used and should have a recall on it. i can't afford to pay what the dealership is asking to repair it, so for now i can't do any night time driving without getting a traffic citation/ticket.

My key keeps getting stuck in the ignition, my husband has to disconnect the battery to get it out, i have told gm about the problem they say that they are not aware of the problem but when i go online i see hundreds of posts about their vehicles having the same problem. i'm sure that they do know about it. the vehicle is not in a safe position (park) when the key gets stuck in the ignition. i think that gm needs to be held liable and the issue needs to be recalled.

Driver side headlight works intermittently. gm dealer instructed me that the wiring harness was broken at the plug where it plugs into the light socket. it seems that there are other owners experiencing the same problem and do not about this sight to file the complaint. i have read on other forums and know this for sure and if there is a problem then the national safety board should make a recall on the issue and have everyone's problem taking care of.

Drivers side low beam went out. known problem. its all over the forums. many cases of the same issue. supposedly it is the wiring harness going to the headlamp. there has been cases of it melting which could cause fire. saturn/gm doesn't care. contacted numerous dealers and every one of them is trying to rip me off. what does it take to get a recall on this? death? gm needs to make this right.

About a month ago, the headlights on the drivers side of my 2007 outlook xr started experiencing intermittent operation. i tried to take it into the shop once, but by then they had come back on. a few weeks later, both of my headlights went out. this time, i had the shop look further into the problem. as it turned out, both of the headlight harnesses were completely melted and my mechanic reported that one even appeared to have caught fire. we had to pay to replace the headlight assemblies because there has not been a recall issued for our outlook, even though i have seen online reports of this sort of problem. i was told that the new headlight assemblies are much sturdier and that this problem shouldn't reoccur, however, i feel that gm should have been the one to pay for the repair. obviously there was an issue with the metal and/or wiring on the first headlight harnesses. i would like to see gm issue a recall on these and for us to be reimbursed for the cost we've already incurred.

The right front head light wiring harness melts down causing a head light failure,
09/04/201164000
My drivers side headlight went out. i purchased a new one and when i installed it, it did not work. i checked the connection more thouroughly and found the connector melted on one side. the copper connecter was black and the surrounding black plastic brittle and misshapen. you cannot replace the wire harness without removing the composite light fixture which looks like you need to remove the front bumper assembly. the average car owner would have a difficult time just replacing the low beam lamp. the high beam lamp requires disassembly. of the composite headlamp unit. the wires are thin on the lighting harness and should be recalled. there are numerous reports of the same problem and gm needs to do something about it.

I have owned my 2007 saturn outlook since new. i love my car overall, but have experienced some unwanted repairs. besides the front passenger airbag not working properly, and the sunroof leaks, i have had to completely replace 3 headlight harnesses already. my right light went out approximately 2yrs ago. found out the wiring was completely melted. saturn advised this was a problem with this vehicle and replaced it under warranty at no cost. just recently, the same headlight went out again. i took the vehicle to a chevrolet dealership who initially told me it was just a headlight and i would have to pay for it. turns out it was the harness again. while the harness was on order, my other headlight went out causing me to drive with highbeams for lighting for several days. yes, it was the same problem for both lights. the chevrolet dealership went ahead and repaired them both at no charge to me as a courtesy they said. my vehicle had 72,000 miles. while i appreciate that they covered the costs, i also feel this should not be happening in the first place. after reading several other complaints, i feel grateful i did not pay but am extremely concerned about the safety of my vehicle. this is definately a fire hazard. my headlights were so hot i could not even touch them and that was after they burnt out! gm needs to do the right thing and recall these vehicles for immediate and permanent repairs. they keep replacing the harness with the same harness so it will continue to be a major safely hazard.

Approximately mid-year 2009, the right side low-beam head light went out on my 2007 saturn outlook. the bulb was replaced with an after-market bulb but to my surprise, the light went out again within 2-3 weeks. upon taking the vehicle to the saturn dealership, the entire right front head light area was replaced as the background wiring had completely melted. the cost was over $500. the vehicle was under warranty at the time, hence there was no cost to me. on saturday, july 2, 2011 however, the same right side head light went out again. upon taking the vehicle to the gm dealership on wednesday july 6, 2011, i am now told that the coils have completely melted again and the cost this time to me is $212. this is absolutely ridiculous! this has got to be a manufacturer defect as i am concerned with what is actually getting so very hot that is melting the coils. i am more concerned that this type of heat could potentially cause a fire. something must be done to prevent an unnecessary tragedy/accident.

I have also have had some bad luck with the headlight wireing on my 2007 saturn outlook. so when will usa ran company gm stand up and admit that there is a problem. i can't beleave that so many have had issues with faulty wireing that could pose a fire hazzard and loss of headlight function for safety. other than that issue i love this suv. i love how we are all playing russian roulette with our famlies live due to a faulty wire issue in the headlight to cause them to over heat and melt expossing the copper wire. thanks gm for showing you care about your customers...

Headlight went out. replaced with same type of bulb. bulb was out in 4 days. wiring harness completely melted. gm has already issued a 'tech notice' on this extensive problem, but the dealer refused to cover the repair cost of $400 because it isn't a recall. i'm sorry, but replacement of a headlight bulb that then burns up the wiring harness is a manufacturing defect and a major safety issue. why isn't a fuse tripped if there is some issue - any time electronics melt, that is a big problem! in addition to the obvious safety issue of not having a headlight working, is there power still going to the harness? what happens if you are forced to continue driving before getting this replaced? is your car going to eventually catch fire? this needs to be recalled immediately. based on the number of complaints i've seen with the nhtsa , this should have already been a forced recall.

My 2007 outlook xr leaks water inside of it and is messing up the electrical stuff in it. it has started telling me to have the airbag serviced, so now i am worried that it will either randomly go off or not go off when it is supposed to. it has told me that my car was over heated when i have just started it. it has continued to keep running when i have turned the key off and removed it from the ignition switch. i have read several other complaints on the internet from other owners. edmunds website has several complaints on there that you can read. i have contacted general motor over this matter because the water leaking in is from factory defects. other owners have taken their outlooks in to the general motors service centers numerous times and their outlooks continue to leak. i had the top of my outlook covered with plastic and water still leaked in when it rained. i vacuumed 6 gallons of water out of it and could not get all of the water out, which is going to lead to it molding and mildewing. something needs to be done to pull these unsafe vehicles off the road.

I have a 2007 saturn outlook xe and in late 2009 my driver side dim headlight went out. we replaced the bulb to no avail. my husband checked the wires which were burt up and replaced them. the light would work intermittenly. finally he fixed it long enough to make it last for about 6-8 months and now it is out again. when he checked it this time he noticed that the wires were melted/burnt again. he has once again fixed the problem as best as he could. my warranty is out and we don't have enough money to take it to the dealer so we continue to deal with this issue as best we can. i have ck'd on websites and noticed that i am not the only person with this issue and i believe something needs to be done. i am also having complete wiring problems with the rest of this lemon that i have to drive. the radio and speakers work whenever they wish and the remote start up is now inopperable as it chooses. i have had nothing but problems with this suv since i bought it, including a transmission problem while on vacation. i was unable to drive for a whole week while it was in the shop to be repaired. thank goodness i still had a warranty at that time.

I have a 2007 saturn outlook that a very much like. one problem that i have encountered however is the low beam driverside headlight. i started having problems about six months ago and i ended up changing the bulb about four months ago. the new one became intermitten like the previous, this time however i found the connector for the bulb to be all metled away along with the new bulb i installed. i see from this an other forums that i am not alone with this issue. do you know if with the risk of fire if gm is taking any action to recall what appears to be a common and dangerous issue?

Drivers side low bean wiring harness melted after bulb blew and had to be replaced. replaced bulb with one from advanced auto parts and then it went out and when i went to find the problem i found the harness where the bulb and harness connect had melted. i've found on line that many other people are having the same problem.

I have a 2007 saturn outlook that i will be replacing the headlight wiring harness for the third time on the drivers side. both sides were replaced by saturn in early 2009 while the vehicle was under warranty. since than i had to repair both sides in early 2010. now its 2011 and the drivers side has gone out again. the wiring harness keeps melting so i need to fix them every year. this is a safety concern since they seem to go out very close together. gm dealers want to charge 400 dollars for the replacement of one. it takes me approximately 4 hours to make the repair on one side due to the extensive work involved in getting to the headlight assembly.

We bought a 2007 saturn outlook in may of 2008. the low beam head lamps would keep blowing so we thought. we have replaced head lamps for the low beams on driver and passenger sides at least 3 times each year, so 9 times. in nov. of 2010 the passenger side would go out and them come back on, so we bought a new one to put in. as my husband went to replace the bulb just by touching it, it would go on. then the driver side started doing this. on friday nov. 26 while driving down i90 (a major highway) in albany at 5am in the rain, i lost both headlights. my husband would go to replace them and they would come back on with the touch. after reading the many complaints we realized that we have the same headlight problem. they will be on and going and then just turn off. we have almost been hit 2 times now and i will not drive in the dark or have to drive with my high beams on at all times. we are in the process of seeing if this is covered by extended warranty. since i have bought the car, the interior dash lights will dim up and down. after several over 6 times to the saturn dealership, they just keep telling me its normal for this car. we believe it all has to do with the wiring harness and it's malfunction.

I am the proud owner of a 2007 saturn outlook and love the vehicle so for. however after having it for about 3 monthes, the passenger headlight went out. an easy fix. i replaced both bulb and two days later, the driverside started turning off and on by itself. ive now replaced both bulb twice in 3 monthes time. i wish i wouldve researched this vehicle before i bought it. i now read how gm is doing nothing and this is wrong. someone could be serious injuried or die from a result sudden light outage. please gm help us out like weve helped you.

I was driving the vehicle today and noticed that the drivers headlight had burned out again. this is the second time since 9/18/2010. this is a serious matter that needs to be addressed by gm. i can not understand why a recall has not been issued. does gm even know how to fix this problem. becoming scared to drive vehicle at night fearing my headlights will go out completely.

As many other owners of 2007 saturn outlooks have reported, the wiring for both headlights have melted, leaving me without headligts. this is a very dangerous situation for all motorists since the incident can occur at night when headlights are a must. replacing the wiring harness and connector with the same factory wiring and connectors that gm supplies you with per the tsb, is not a correct fix. this will lead to a future failure, and melting wiring and plastic components could potentially cause a fire. this is dangerous and gm knows there is a problem. the factory needs to have a recall and have all components upgraded to ones that will handle the voltage required to run the headlights. i seriously hope there are no fires or accidents that cause any injury before gm decides to do something about this problem. it's bad enough that people are having to repeatedly spend their money to mask a problem that does nothing but come back at a later date.

Headlight wiring harness on 2007 saturn outlook xr melts causing fire hazard.

2007 saturn outlook. driver side low beam headlight continuously develops problems. first, light starts operating intermittently; then, eventually fails completely. the first time it happened, i replaced the bulb (difficult operation accessed through the wheel well). it worked well for a few weeks, then failed again. after reading others' experiences, the next time it happened, i inspected the socket and saw visible charring on the contacts. so, i replaced the socket with an aftermarket part and replaced the bulb. it functioned well for about 3 months, and now the headlight is internittent again, leaning towards failing completely again. this has been infuriating because the exact onset of the problem is unpredictable and has already caused me a nys equipment violation ticket. plus, from what i can see, it is a potential fire hazard and certainly a safety hazard as far as driving at night with only one (or possibly no) functioning headlight(s). i cannot change sockets and bulbs every 2-3 months and am worried that the car is unsafe because of the obvious wiring harness issues. i know saturn is out of business, but we need a safety recall to protect consumers like me who are stuck with an unsafe car. the new gm should pay for a recall.

I have experienced only issues all year with my 2007 saturn outlook. it has 55,000 miles and in june 2010 the wiring short circuited behind the steering wheel causing the theft security lock system to go into effect assuming the car was being hot-wired. it cost me over $300 to fix at the dealer and had to be towed. then the dealer said my inside fuse box was completely corroded from water and they would need to fix the leak my sunroof was causing. the dealer has made 6 attempts to fix and i just picked up my car this morning, hopefully after the final attempt. now my breaks are causing issues, the break pedal softens and goes down to almost the floor when pressed every 4th or 5th time and it is drinking brake fluid, i need to take it this weekend to check for a leak. not to mention my power steering is making loud whining sounds every time that i move the steering wheel. oh, and my passenger side low beam headlight has gone out a few times and my husband has had to access the back of it to replace it but it continues to go out. oh, and my transmission caused problems two weeks ago and the dealer fixed it under my powertrain warranty.. 55,000 miles and this car is giving me issues as if i'm over 200,000 miles!

Had a healight replaced in the saturn outlook 2007 xe. the light went out again and melted the wiring harness and fuse. this is a definite safety issue that has happened to many saturn owners and saturn even has a technical bulletiin addressing the problem but doesn't notify saturn owners of the issue or help fix it. a recall is warranted. melted wireing is not acceptable in a car.

2007 saturn outlook drivers side headlight went out on 6/15/10 enroute from or to co. took to out of town dealer to repair & found the harness wiring had melted. dealer said takes a week to get part & should take care of when i get back home. called dealer @ home and is 7 to 10 days to get part. also said i am out of warranty and would have to pay for part plus labor to install. out of town dealer in co said there have been numerous reports of harness failures but no recall issued yet.

2007 saturn outlook, passenger side headlight wiring harness. bulbs burn out every 4-6 months. harness melted the insulation off the wires making it a fire hazard. dealer would not replace, as we bought the car used in 2008. the harness needs to be upgraded to handle the load of the headlight.

Have to replace the headlight and wiring harness every 2 weeks.

My lowbeam headlight went out in my 2007 saturn outlook. i replaced the light and it went out again a day later. i took the car in to the dealership the wiring harness is melted and the wiring going into the harness is burnt. this is due to too much voltage causing the harness to melt. this has been a problem with many saturn outlooks it has yet to be a recall. this is not only a manufacture issue but a safety issue as it could result in a fire. the wiring harness is no longer available so the whole headlight has to be replaced to correct the problem.

While driving at night my 2007 saturn outlook the passenger low beam went out. upon opening the hood when i stopped i noticed the distinct odor of burnt plastic. upon further evaluation while removing the bulb i observed that the insulation for the wiring harness had melted off and shorted at the interface between the wire and connector. the contact for the bulb also exhibited charring at the connector contact. an internet search for a replacement bulb alerted me that there is a service bulletin (09-08-42-004) addressing the replacement of this harness should the headlight fail. i feel this is a oem design flaw and safety issue since the harness can short out to the point to where the insulation is melted completely off exposing bare wires.

Passenger side headlamp on a 2007 saturn outlook has now had to be replaced twice in two months. wiring harness is shorting out causing the headlamp to fail. bulbs are fine and in working condition. this is a very significant hazard, especially while driving at night. with a 4 month old son, i would like to see some action be taken to make this issue a recall. *tr

I purchased my 2007 saturn outlook brand new. i was told that wiring harness needed to be changed about $1,000.00. my extended warranty does not cover it because it is over 74,000 miles. i have been reading forums from other saturn outlook owners and a lot of them having same problem. *tr

My 2007 saturn outlook headlight went out. when researched on the internet on how to change the lamp, i found that the wiring harness for the headlights on all model years of saturn outlook, gmc acadia, buick enclave, and chevrolet traverse have a similar problem of the headlight wiring harness melting and failing. there is a technical service bulletin concerning the defect ( saturn tsb #09-08-42-004) stating that the harness should be replaced (with the same harness, so the problem continues) and nyogel gel should be used at the electrical connection point. the melting wiring harness is a fire hazard. i have the harness if you want it. *tr

Problems with passenger airbag - sometimes it would say off when a passenger is seated and sometimes it would say on and then turn off after some time. had to have work done on the fuel pump, then the drive shaft went to the point where it car had to be towed. i was told that this never happens. currently, the car now kicks back when the car is first moved for that day and the dash board will flash, either, speed limited to 108pmh (when pulling out of driveway), park assist is off (when it is on),or traction control is off (when it has never been touched) - the car will also shut off without me doing so. i have taken it to a saturn dealership and they say that they can find anything wrong with the car. i am currently five months pregnant and i do not feel safe in the car. when the car kicks back it hurts. *tr
