In a letter dated august 27, 2008, general motors corp. (gm) notified nhtsa that it will conduct a safety recall (nhtsa recall number 08v-441) to address a safety relateddefect that can result in engine compartment fire in approximately 850,000 vehicles equipped with a heated windshield washer fluid option.the subject vehicles of this investigation comprise over three-quarters of the recall population. according to gm, a short circuit on the printed circuit board for the windshield washer fluid heater module may overheat the control-circuit ground wire. this may cause other electrical features to malfunction, create an odor or cause smoke and in rare cases it may cause a fire.as a remedy, gm dealers will install a wire harness with an in-line fuse. in addition to the subject vehicles, several other gm models with the heated windshield washer fluid option are included in recall 08v-441: my 2006-2008 buick lucerne (manufactured august 2005 through november 2007); my 2008 buick enclave (manufactured february 2007 through april 2007); my 2006-2008 cadillac dts (manufactured may 2007 through november 2007); my 2007-2008 saturn outlook (manufactured august 2006 through april 2007); and my 2007-2008 gmc acadia (manufactured august 2006 through april 2007) vehicles.gm is instructing owners to take their vehicle to a dealer for service if they experience symptoms of windshield washer heater module short circuits. gm's recall resolves the safety defect concerns pursued by this investigation.this engineering analysis is closed.

We noticed that we were getting water in the car coming from the rearview mirror. we were finding water dripping through sunroof and going to the mug box. we noticed electrical problems also: the heating/cooling motor in the front of the car stopped to work and we have to change it. the buttons for rear wiper does not work anymore. the water overflows into the car and after a rainstorm we had 1.5 inches water below driver and passenger seats. i know that there has been several customers that had similar problems with the sunroof drains. it is a poor design that the saturn corp. *tr

Driver side headlight wireharness arcs and causes light to fail. replacing lightbulb temporarly fixes issue. light fails and causes loss of light while driving at night. also, potential fire hazard.

The headlights went out while i was driving home in the early evening, reducing my visability and the ability for others to see my vehicle. fortunately, it wasn't night yet and i was still able to navigate home, however had it been just an hour later it would have been completely dark and siginificantly more unsafe for this incident to have occurred. the wiring harness is a known defect by gm and steps should be taken to remedy it. this can create unsafe road conditions for saturn outlook drivers.

Have a 2008 saturn outllook where both sides of the low beam headlamp wiring harnesses are faulty and continue to malfunction. i replaced the bulb on the driver's side and it was blown again in a few days. i searched the internet and found that it was a wiring harness issue due to faulty design.

The driver's side headlight is not working because the wiring harness is melted. this is the second time i have had this problem on this vehicle.

Windshield wipers stopped midcycle wipe and would not move up or down. this has occurred twice now, the first time around april 12th, 2008 and now today (may 7th, 2008). after the first incident the vehicle was taken to the dealership for service, where it was discovered that the locking nut between the wiper motor and the wiper linkage had come loose/off. the incident today caused two near miss accidents while my wife got the vehicle off the road and into a parking lot as we are experiencing extremely heavy rainfall. *tr

The sunroof is leaking water. had to take it to the dealer several times before they say they fixed the problem. i do not believe it is fixed. this issue of leaking sunroofs/ moon roofs has caused numerous problems in the same make/model vehicles and the leaks caused electrical problems, mold etc. in these vehicles. i will not drive my vehicle on days it looks like it might rain for fear it will leak again. as i understand this problem cannot be fixed and it is only a matter of time before mine leaks again. my vehicle only has appx 36000 miles on it. i should not be afraid of driving my vehicle. i want my money back. *tr
