| Daughter driving for experience of a license. while driving heard a sound then the pwr strng sign appeared on the dash board. the steering locked up. was very difficult to turn. husband had to take over the driving. would shut the car off. start it again, a minute later it would reoccur. not safe for a just learning driver or my mother (78) if it were to happen with either one while turning. called saturn, they are accepting the responsibility. referred us to gm dealer to diagnose. if diagnose is confirmed with prior incidents reported they will cover the new parts, labor and diagnostic tests. saturn gets credit for stepping up. *tr | |||

| My power steering goes out in my saturn ion 2006 while on an overpass on the freeway doing about 60 mph. i have to exit the freeway and i turned the car off. i waited a few minutes and tried to drive in the parking lot i was in and it seemed ok. i pulled out to get back on the side street, and my dash screen blinks telling me power steering again. i was a mile from home and had to pull over 3 times before i made it home. now it happens almost daily. not safe at all! please fix this problem at no cost to me or replace my car. | |||

| Saturn ion 2006 started around 60,000 miles or so steering error would appear periodically and when the key cycled it would clear the code. as the temperature changed it now appears to happen in the first 3 minutes of start-up. colbalt has a recall and this is the same part used on saturn. has gm just washed there hands of all the saturn users? no crash at this time but i will continue to deal with because i can't throw that much money in a car with its current resell value for one and gm should own up to there issue like toyota finally did. | |||

| I have 2 saturn ions. one is a 2004, and the other is a 2006. both are having problems with the power steering module which turns off while driving, then resets when vehicles turned off and restarted, only to turn off again while driving. this is a minor problem @ speeds over about 20mph, but @ lower speeds the wheel becomes difficult to turn. | |||

| I was driving in rush hour traffic in los angeles and the power went out on the steering. i thought the engine died, but realized it had not. i struggled to keep in on the road until i could get off the freeway and stop. after i turned off engine and then turned it back on. i drove a few hundred yards and the bell chimed and the message on dash said, steering power or something like that. i decided to tow the vehicle with an rv to the nearest to my campsite santa maria. they told me it was a regular problem with saturn and the steering motor was defective. i saw online several complaints about this on dot and the saturn dealer confirmed, it was a regular problem. it was very expensive to replace, but worse, i could have been killed or hurt or killed others on the freeway. *tr | |||

| Over the course of the last two months with increasing frequency my power steering light will come on with a warning chime and my power steering will fail. once i turn the car off and then turn the car back on the light goes out and the power steering will return until the cycle repeats itself. my car is now out of warranty. i have called saturn and issued a complaint. they stated they would need to have the dealer run a diagnostic ($100 at my expense) before they could proceed with the complaint process and offer any assistance. there is no recall at this time although online it does show they have had bulletins concerning this issue. also online today is a recall notice from gm concerning this very issue with their cars. they have multiple gm brands included in the recall but not the saturn brand which is one of the brands they are discontinuing. url for the online report is : http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35655693/ns/business-autos/?gt1=43001. *tr | |||

| While driving on normal road conditions, i received a power steering indication and the steering wheel became tight. it is hard to turn the car. once i stop the car and restarted the problem goes away, but comes back periodically while driving. this is beginning to happen more frequently, more like two or three times a day. *tr | |||
