Defect SummaryVehicle description: certain passenger vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of fmvss no. 301, fuel system integrity. these vehicles were built with an inadequate vent valve weld on the top portion of the fuel tank.
Consequence SummaryFuel spillage could occur during refueling or if the vehicle were involved in a rollover. if an ignition source were present, a fire could occur.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the vehicle to ensure the fuel tank vent valve is properly welded. if necessary, dealers will replace the fuel tank assembly.
NotesOwner notification began october 6, 2000.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact saturn at 1-800-553-6000. also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

 Fuel system,gasoline:storage tank assembly.nhtsa id #00v309000. spoke to a person today and they said that my cae is not one of the affected vehicles in this recall. i have this car almost 7 years and never received a notice of this. how can i make sure that my car is not affected i feel that i will get a hard time if i ask them to inspect to make sure. also gave them my vin number to verify to make sure. please help! *tr
