TIRES - TREAD/BELT
07/01/200698000308/10/2004
The left rear tire on my camper trailer failed taking the entire tread cap off the tire. the tread punched a hole in the bottom of the trailer and broke the gray waste water drain line off of the trailer. the trailer was not overloaded, tires were properly inflated and appeared to be in good condition. the outside air temperature was about 90 degrees. after replacing the tire with the spare, also a carlisle, we continued on our way. less than an hour later a tire on the right front of the trailer failed, also losing the entire tread cap. this tread wrapped around the axle and so was saved and shown to the tire dealer where two replacement tires were purchased. they could find no obvious causes for the failure. on our return trip, the spare that had replaced the tire on the first blowout, failed. this tire was in new condition and had never been on the ground before. outside air temperature this time was 62 degrees, the other 3 tires were all cold to the touch. we had been on the road less than an hour, early in the morning. unfortunately, this failure again on the left rear, took out the replaced gray line and punched an even larger hole in the floor of the trailer, which had also been repaired. this time the entire tread cap was not lost, but about a half of the tread cap is missing. *nm
