| Travelling north on i-5 passing 18-wheel truck using automatic shift (had been using manual shift). moved gear shift forward, transmission went through reverse and into park while travelling. no detention from such shifting was noted. severe grinding and forced to turn off ignition, shift into neutral, and restart engine. on 4-lane freeway at time of incident. if a 2-lane highway danger could be lethal if any oncoming traffic. transmission replacement required.*ak | |||
