Defect SummaryPower steering fluid packaged in containers and labeled as brake fluid. consequence of defect: if used, fluid will cause swelling and breaking of the seals and loses in the hydraulic brake system. this could result in leaking of fluid and cause brake failure which may result an accident.

 Travelling north on i-5 passing 18-wheel truck using automatic shift (had been using manual shift). moved gear shift forward, transmission went through reverse and into park while travelling. no detention from such shifting was noted. severe grinding and forced to turn off ignition, shift into neutral, and restart engine. on 4-lane freeway at time of incident. if a 2-lane highway danger could be lethal if any oncoming traffic. transmission replacement required.*ak
