Defect SummaryCertain suburban glass top, sealed burner ranges and cook tops with serial numbers included in a range beginning with 063413053 and ending with 064704399, manufactured between august 22 and november 22, 2006, p/nos. 2950a, 2951a, 2952a, and 2953a. these ranges were installed as original equipment on certain recreational vehicles as well as sold as aftermarket equipment. a threaded connector on the tube between the burner valve and the burner may not have been fully tightened during the manufacturing process.
Consequence SummaryIf the threaded connector is not properly tightened, it is possible for the gas to leak from the connection when the burner is turned on. lp gas is heavier than air and any leaked gas could accumulate in an enclosed or low area in your recreation vehicle. a sufficient quantity of accumulated gas, if ignited, could cause a fire or explosion.
Corrective SummaryEach rv manufacturer will notify its owners and provide a remedy free of charge. suburban will notify the owners of the aftermarket equipment and provide a free remedy. the recall began on september 6, 2007. owners should contact their vehicle manufacturer or suburban at 423-775-2131.

My 2001 chev surban caught on fire in my garage when car was not running. while picking up my daughter from school my abs warning light came on --i returned home within 5 mins and with 10 mins my car was on fire. --dealership that i bought the car from and have had serviced there has my car. i have been trying to deal with them and it has been a complete nightmare. the saftey of my family is at risk if i contiune to drive the car---they dont know if that will happen again or not they say. at first they said it would cost $2,000 to fix the car --replace parts that were damaged from the fire--after i started asking if general motors should be responsible they said they would only charge me $950.00 since i was a good customer. i explained to them there must be a defect in the car---my car is in excellent condition---2001 70,000 miles and has been serviced every 3,000 miles. they said they have never seen this before. then they said general motors will pay to have the parts replaced that were damaged and put in a new abs module, and that i should be okay. i cant risk the safty of my family and my house to park the car in the garage and contuine to drive it.. i would appreicate any help or advise that you might have for me.

On 26oct.2010 i had a throttle body replace on a 2003 chevy suburban at a local chevy dealership. a day later my wife and i took the suburban out to go shopping . i returned tothe parking lot to pull up to the door to load up. as i was ciircling around in the parking lot the engine of the suv red lined ,this caught me totally off gaurd. i applied the brakes to thi suv, it did not stopped . the end result was that i hit a light pole in the parking lot. i reported the accident to my insurance company. my in insurance company sent a investigator out to look a the suv , he started the vehicle and it redlined , he gave me a call and said i had a issue with the throttle body and that it could have been improperly installed or it could have been a manufacture defect. later on i called the dealership that installed and proformed the work .they said that it was definitely a defected and that they are not responsibile for the acccident. they said that gm was responsible for this accident.
