Tl*the contact owns a 2007 suzuki an400k7. while driving approximately 18-30 mph, the vehicle vibrated violently. there were no warnings prior to this failure. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they replaced the clutch assembly. on four separate occasions, the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer for identical failures, but there were no resolutions. the technician was unable to detect the cause of the failure. the violent vibration caused the handle bar mirrors to loosen, which reduced visibility. the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved. the failure mileage was 1,000 and current mileage was 1,958.

This is related to the 2007 suzuki burgman 400 scooter. several times my scooter has loudly squealed upon start, and occasionally the clutch has 'grabbed'. many users of this model on www.burgmanusa.com forums report that the grabbing becomes stronger and is potentially dangerous (could throw the rider from the bike). this is a 400cc scooter capable of highway (70+mph) speeds, so it is a serious safety situation. many owners report clutch failure, but suzuki (corporate) denies any problems (although there are hundreds of complaints on the forums). a few dealers have been reported to admit a problem and offer replacement parts. suzuki has replaced the clutch for the 2008 model, and also introduced different clutch replacement part numbers for the 2007 model, clearly indicating a redesign of the clutch. suzuki is clearly aware that there is a problem, but refuses to admit it, or to issue a recall for what could be a life-threatening design flaw. i have not had a fire, damage, crash yet...but worry about it every time i ride. a recall is absolutely necessary to prevent rider injury or death. this form requires a date of incident, but i have no specific dates, so i am entering march 1, 2008 in order to proceed. i reiterate that the noise and vibration has happened several times. it is not reproducible and is intermittent at this point in time. *tr

The clutch on my suzuki an400k7 scooter grabbed, squealed, shook and vibrated to the point where i considered it unsafe to ride. two trips to the dealer and two calls to the suzuki customer hotline resulted in no action on there part to correct the problem. i was told by the hotline personnel that there was had been no reported problems with the clutch on this model, but i know that is not true. in order to be able to safely ride the scooter i bought and installed an aftermarket clutch, which works perfectly. *tr

My 07 suzuki burgman developed a squeal at 1100 miles. it squeals every morning and when i take off from stoplights with the bile just about every time. i went to the dealer (team charlotte motorsports in charlotte, nc) and they said it was normal or they could not duplicate the problem. that's strange because i pulled out of the dealership and my bike squealed again. i am disappointed that no one at the dealership has heard anything about a recall on this clutch. i'd like suzuki to step up a fix this problem. *tr
