While driving the car shuddered and check engine light comes on. i lost almost all power and needed to step hard on accelerator to make car move, especially from a stopped state. this is the same problem i had with this vehicle about 6 months ago. at that time the car was taken to a local mechanic and the engine code returned a problem with the transmission switch sensor. the sensor was replaced and the problem stopped until this recent issue. if i drive the car for a while the check engine light will eventually go out and the car drives fine. but in a day or two the problem occurs again. i need to get the sensor replaced again but it seems there are numerous reports of this same issue out there. i think this should warrant a recall. *tr

My first exp. with this problem happened as i was backing out of a parking space . i put the car in reverse and it went back, but i put in drive it would not move, so i put in 3rd gear and it move forward slowly until put in drive again and it worked. second time a was driving about 40 mph and all of a sudden the car goes into neutral and i lose power , again i put in 3rd and power catches luckily no one behind me to slam into me. i took it to the dealer and asked if there had been a recall on this problem ,they said no but would check it out for 90 dollars! they could not reproduce the problem and didn't do anything. third time tonight 1-20-13 im leaving work and the car gets me to the grocery sore alright, but leaving for home it goes from drive to neutral and no power again put it 3rd and i get home driving 15 mph .when trying to park it wont go into park i have to put in neutral ,turn key off and hand brake . turned the car back on to see if it would work right and all i would get was a slash over the p and the d. *tr

When i was in park i put it in reverse the car didn't recognize the car was in reverse and it had a line across it and check engine light came on. i put the car back in park and then was able to drive it, and the light went off, but the while driving the car the line will go across the drive and the car will no longer accelerate, which can be dangerous on the highway. i brought it into pepboys they said a transmission code was popped up, but they reset the codes, even though i didn't tell the guy to do that. now the problem occurs but the check engine light doesn't come on. i brought it to a suzuki dealership and they said they think it is a transmission sensor, but the diagnostic check said it was fine, and they said wait until the check engine light comes back on, but the problem now occurs without the check engine light coming on. but i'm scared to drive it on the road because at anytime i could lose power and be injured in a car accident. i had it towed to a local mechanic and hope they can repair it. *tr

I could really use some assistance. i have a 2007 forenza and yesterday as i was putting the car into reverse, it made a loud clunking noise. the gear selector display on the dash seemed to go haywire displaying all the letters (d, r, n, etc) with a diagonal line through it. it then went back to normal, then the check engine light came on. they hooked up the diagnostic computer and it came up with codes po700 and po705, which varies in wording but seems like it's the transmission range sensor.i have read that many other people have had the same problem. this is a problem that suzuki should take care of a sensor cost to those who bought their cars. *tr

When you put the car in drive,it feels like the front end is going to fall. then when you go, it doesn't shift into gears correctly. we had the part replaced the first time in 2009. now its doing it again and they won't cover it under warranty. this seems to be a problem with these cars and should be recalled. *tr

2007 suzuki forenza accelerates extremely slowly when hot. car shudders and will not gain rpms. often will not accelerate out of stop lights. engine light flashes during such episodes. engine light stays on at all times. will lose speed randomly while in traffic. after time, it will suddenly regain power, resulting in an abrupt lunge if accelerator is depressed. vehicle code said problem was with the catalytic converter. replaced cat, but it made no impact on the vehicle's performance. was advised that the problem could be the shift range sensor. have not yet repaired as i spent all of my repair money on the cat replacement. *tr

My check engine light came on to find that my transmission switch had gone bad causing it not to shift correctly....thinking no big deal, i took it to my mechanic. he said these transmissions were known as throw away transmissions. i came home and googled my problem to find numerous lower mileage suzuki forenzas with the same issue, some almost causing accidents. please consider a mandatory recall on this part. *tr

I have been reading about these 2007 suzukis. the transmission range sensors is going out on my vehicle also. the mechanic also stated the throttle body was bad. now i just had 1600.00 worth of work to this vehicle, timing belt changed, new tires, oil changed etc. suzuki needs to step up to the plate and recall these lemons!! the mechanic stated the throttle body was major but said he wasn't sure if it was covered under powertrain warranty. if suzuki cannot guarantee their cars for less than 100'000 miles than i'll never buy another suzuki! think i'll paint my canary yellow!!!!!!

My check engine light came on after i placed the car in reverse, it gave a big thunk sound. i turned the car off and restarted it. the check engine light is still on. when i went to the dealership to get a diagnosis and they said it was a transmission range sensor gone bad! $250 to replace. as you can see that there are a lot of customer complaints on the same issue but no recall. i have already had the brake light sensor replaced earlier this year and a power steering pump! not liking suzuki right now!

Googled on website, and found lots of people complained that the transmission range sensor is broken prematurely, which clearly indicate the such part is a defective one. my such claim was also supported by what technician told me who fixed my car as they are authorized suzuki service dealership. he told me there is around 4-5 fix for this part out of this model around this mileage. my car is still under powertrain warranty, but this part is excluded from such coverage. suzuki should recalll this part and fix the problem for free of charge.

Trying to shift into gear the car jerks and the display blinks, not indicating what gear the car is in. the only gears that show are d and p. when trying to accelerate the car moves very slowly and doesn't go any faster than 35-40 mph. diagnostic test show it is the tramsmission range sensor. i see that this is a common problem in this model vehicle and thinks it should be recalled and fixed at the expense of the dealer not the consumer. this car has only had problems from the beginning and the manufacturer needs to realize this and assume some responsibility for their product

Car was sputtering and hesitating. check engine light came on. we took to mechanic and error p0705 transmission range sensor came up as the problem. suzuki is aware of this ongoing problem and they are clearly ignoring the potential for a serious accident to occur by not recalling and rectifying the issue. rather they are relying on their consumers to absorb the expense of this repair. my faith in suzuki has definitely been shaken and this definitely will influence my decision to purchase another suzuki or recommend suzuki. it is time that suzuki step up and admit their negligence, rectify the issue, compensate those who have absorbed the cost of this repair, and restore the faith in its consumers.

Purchased a 2007 suzuki forenza and problem i am having is having to step on brake padel quite a bit and hard just so that i could change gear from park to reverse. how to fix when only less than 2 years to pay off. cannot afford to start on a new car note. needing help.

My wife owns a 2007 suzuki forenza, at around 50k miles, we noticed that when shifting from park, the check engine light comes on and the odometer reads a blinking symbol while a violent jerk occurred. then when accelerating, the car would have a loud low-pitch hum as if we were towing a bus on ice. i had a diagnostic test ran and discovered that my trasnmission range sensor and my transmission shift solenoid were faulty. me being a mechanic and all, i call around to buy the part, no luck. so i finally call the dealership and guess what they say? only the dealership has the parts and you're going to have to bring it to us and pay a ridiculous price. i refuse to pay someone else to do a job that i know i can do, especially if were talking about a cost that exceeds $500 for a one and a half hour job. i don't understand why these parts are exclusive to dealers especially when the part is obviously poorly crafted by the makers. so many complaints about the same thing. why hasn't there been a recall already? or at least make the parts available to the public. this is a serious safety hazard, left turns are a gamble, and i can just imagine the wear on the engine itself. at 50 mph the rpm's are at 3000 to 4000 rpm's! please help!

2007 suzuki forenza sedan. bought the car two days ago. today the check engine light came on and shifting into reverse caused a loud clunk followed by the digital gear indicator being scrambled rather than displaying r. when the car is in drive, it won't shift out of 3rd gear, so much less pickup than normal (which could lead to getting rear ended) and can't go over ~55 mph. the transmission range sensor is the problem. the corresponding error codes pulled were po700 and po705. after doing research online, it seems like this is a very, very common problem with the 2007 model.

Transmission range sensor in 07 suzuki forenza went out at 70 mph and almost made a vehicle behind me run into me. the vehicle part costs about 60 dollars plus tax and labor but i have been told it is not covered under the drivetrain warranty.

I had purchased a 2007 suzuki forenza. it had 7 miles on it when i drove it off the lot.at approximately 56,000 miles it started putting itself in neutral gear and intermittently would not allow me to change from reverse to drive. i would have to leave it in neutral, turn the car off then back on in order to put it in drive and even then the car will jerk between gears and has run at 4,000 rpms at 60 mph. it has become a gas guzzler. now at 82,000 miles i can finally afford to pay the $300 the dealer had told me it would cost to repair this range mode switch that they say was causing the issue. after reading the other complaints regarding the 2006 suzuki forenza, and seeing how similar all these issues are, i am i full agreement that this part should have been and should be in the future, covered under the warranty or should be recalled. if i am driving down the highway with my children in the car with me and the car should automatically change gears to neutral and an accident is caused because of this, there will be lawsuits. i am just hoping that this replacement part that is installed will actually hold out and do what it is made to do.

My 2007 suzuki forenza will not shift gears properly. if you put the car in reverse and then put it into drive the car will not idle to drive, make a loud ruff sound and the check engine light comes on. after driving it for maybe 15 min and letting it sit for about an hour it goes back to normal. all to do the same thing the very next day or later on that day. not to mention i bought it with only 12,000 miles on it, two and a half years ago and it now only has 42,000 miles now.

My 2007 suzuki forenza has 51,000 miles and it appears the transmission range sensor has failed. i only use my car for normal driving from home to work which is about 20 miles one way and other in-town drives such as school or groceries. i live in phoenix, az so heat maybe a factor. about twice a week for the last month, when im at a stop the transmission seems to get stuck in second gear with no indication (sometimes check engine light will be on) until i accelerate. few times ive been close to being in accidents while making left turns. suzuki has told me that the sensor is not under warranty and will cost around $300 to repair.

Transmission would sometimes slip what feels like neutral (no power) while in drive. other times transmission would stay in drive and would not down shift auto or manual. frequency is increasing. cost at dealer is financially prohibitive at this time. research indicates problem is common to this and prior year manufacture.

2007 suzuki forenza transmission range sensor - needs to be replaced, car has problems going from 0-50 mphs in drive; dealer states that they are the only ones that have the part to fix it and it costs about 200.00 to repair; car barely is over 40,000 miles, can't find part anywhere but dealership and they state they are the only ones who can fix it.

Transmission shift sensor is what everything points to. when operating the vehicle in drive, the transmission suddenly ceases to operate correctly, and seems as if it has shifted into neutral. the shift selection indicator on the display panel shows a fault and the check engine light comes on. upon investigating the issue online it seems as though this has become a recent issue with the suzuki forenza in the past months, ranging between the 2007 and 2008 models. this failure poses many safety concerns.

Suzuki forenza 2007, 42,000 miles. 1) transmission range sensor: transmission slips when in drive -- panel shows a d with a slash through it. after researching, have found this to be extremely common among the most well-maintained forenzas. unacceptable. engine light came on and as soon as i tried to go forward ,the car would just decelerate down like 10 0r 20 mph scary within a matter of seconds and no matter how much i pushed the pedal to accelerate to the floor but it was as if i didn't have power. 2)tire pressure light comes on every other day. 3)the front passenger air bag light comes on to show the air bag is not working even if i have a passenger seated properly in the front seat.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) i was running the car in drive and go to take off and it feels as the transmission is slipping, with a heavy club to the car underside and then the check engine light came on and as soon as i tried to go forward it was as if i didn't have power. i try to take the car to be checked out and the light had reset and no code could be read. then it happen driving at a faster speed the car just acted like it shifted to a lower gear and it revved up and then no power, once i tried to go again. again, light went out before getting it read. this happened repeatedly over 2 weeks, finally got into auto zone to have it read and the car coded with a p0705 code, which is the transmission range sensor. after doing research on the problem i noticed that it is very common and the dealership stated that they see 10 a month for the same problem. sad that no one has seen to recall this part, it's scary and dangerous to have this occur while driving, when it's a $40.00 part we are talking about over my life. please investigate this more.  I have been reading all the comments on this car and i've had every one of them...i have a 2007 suzuki forzena and my car problems started at about 25,000 miles. i have taken it in sooo many times with no resolve. the check engine light and tire pressure light still comes on every other day. i've had issues when i'm driving on the highway at 60 mph and the car would just decelerate down to 35 mph within a matter of seconds and no matter how much i pushed the pedal to accelerate to the floor it would not budge...this is very dangerous and i don't know why this company is still allowed to make cars. the loaner car that they say they give you in the warranty is a joke. we've had to rent our own cars and wait to be reimbursed. the dealerships they send you to cant find anything wrong with it. no matter what the problem with the car you still have to make your payments....this car has too many problems!!!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 suzuki forenza purchased brand new june 2007. the transmission improperly shift gears. the vehicle would display 1st gear or neutral on the indicator panel while in the drive mode. the dealer replaced the transmission range sensor. after the repair the vehicle would not accelerate past 15 mph. as a consequence she was rear-ended by another vehicle. there was minor damage done to the rear of the vehicle. no repairs have been made to date to correct the failure. after the incident the failure became progressively worse. also the check engine warning light illuminated on the warning panel. the failure mileage was 44,121 and the current was 47, 870.

I own a 2007 forenza in which a few weeks ago i notice it was not shifting out gears right. then it got worse and would actually stop moving and just rev up. i almost was in an accident because of this luckily the truck had good brakes. i took my car in and the cashier told me what it probably was before they even looked at it and she made a statement that all the forenza are having this problem not to mention the was 14 in the service area. anyway the shop told me it was my transmission range sensor and it was not covered in my powertrain warranty go figure..so it was 215.00 out of pocket..i feel that if this is a common problem it could eventually claim lives. *tr

My daughter owns a 2007 forenza; she was recently driving down the road and began to notice a hesitation on the vehicle while driving; she then felt an acceleration and a deceleration on the vehicle - as if it wanted to stall and shut off. a few days later she was about to park and felt a sudden jerk and funny sound coming from the engine compartment - she turned off the vehicle and waited for approximately one hour; the vehicle started and she was told to leave it at home. the following day i brought it in to a suzuki dealer for service - i was told that the transmission sensor needed to be replaced - thank god my 19 year old did not get involved in an auto accident to the acceleration of this vehicle. please have this sensor checked out on all your suzuki forenza's. oh and give thanks to the fact that my warranty still had 3,000 miles left on it. i am now in doubt of this suzuki - i would feel much more comfortable if suzuki would extend their warranty to 5 years/50,000 miles instead 3 years/36,000 miles. i believe if suzuki believes in their vehicles then they should honor the request. *tr

At 36,000 miles, my check engine light came on in my suzuki forenza. it then went off. soon, my car began to misfire and does not know the difference between reverse and neutral. at times, there is a line through the d (drive) on my dashboard (it's an automatic). i have read several other owners with this same problem. at times when traveling down the road, the car will shift itself into neutral. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 suzuki forenza. while driving approximately 60 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle began wobbling excessively. the vehicle would gradually change direction without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and the rear struts were determined to be the cause of the failure. the vehicle has not been repaired. the repair cost was estimated at $580. in addition, the transmission failed to shift gears and the gear sensor was replaced. the interior door handles on the front and rear passenger side were also replaced. the failure and current mileages were 56,569.

A person driving behind our car (suzuki-forenza) pulled up next to us and stated we didn't have any back tail lights we also noticed on our dashboard the airbag light came on and wouldn't go off. we stopped and checked the fuses, bulbs and found both in good working order but we still had no tail lights. attempted to head to an auto parts store to seek help(sunday) and realized that the gear shift would not come out of park. read the manual and had to utilize the release mech. everytime we stopped the car and placed it in park. also, some type of engine noise maybe fan belt continues and has to go back to the shop. *tr
