Recall 00v319000 was completed at track-n-trail, however they did not do the recall to even idle causing other components to not work correctly, consumer took to another dealer to redo recall and repair the following: the starter which jumped gears and locked up was replaced, a cracked case was around the starter, and camshafts were all out of specifications. *et

Spouse parked in front of a store.put in park, sit there awhile filling out paperwork and then went inside. slight incline to rear of vehicle. when driver got out, left passenger in vehicle.passenger heard pop and vehicle started rolling backwards. passenger scared and departed vehicle and dragged several feet.(took passenger to hospital later) vehicle continued to roll until contact with tree preventing it from jumping curb into street. apparently vehicle popped out of park into neutral. previous complaint to dealer about auto jumping forward at stops and brakes applied to prevent collision with auto in front. they reported no trouble found. informed on them more than one occasion that it was intermittent. vehicle was doing that very same thing very badly prior to incident. duplicated scene with my van and as soon as i put into neutral it immediatly began to roll backwards. this is an unsafe vehicle!*ak

I am filing this report as a matter of caution and not due to a failure that has already occurred. i own this particular model motorcycle and have been made aware of several subframe failures. these failures are due to a defect resulting in an actual breakage of the rear subframe. the breakage in the subframe presents a serious hazzard to the driver and any potential passenger. i have a concern that the manufacturer has made a change in later model year motorcycles, knowing this situation existed, but has not recalled the questionable subframes that are in use on thousands of motorcycle manufactured as 1999 and 2000 year models. i would hope that the fact of my subframe not yet failing does not prevent preventive measures to correct this potentially dangerous situation. thank you for your support with this matter.*ak

This problem is common among early year suzuki hayabusas. my subframe has not failed, but i am concerned about my safety and also passengers that ride on my motorcycle. i would like a recall done on this part and have a replacement made of steel put on the motorcycle at no cost. in europe, suzuki was required to recall this part, but dealers here in the united states are unaware of any problem, and suzuki will not extend the recall here. failure of this component may cause loss of control of the vehicle, resulting in a crash. feel free to contact me with any questions.

Went riding on a saturday and noticed motorcycle was handling very weird and it actually seemed to be longer than normal. when i got home i noticed the back half of my motorcycle was several inches lower than normal and the rear tire was less than an inch from the rear fender. after an inspection of motorcycle, the subframe broke on both sides, causing the back half of the bike to fall over 4-6 inches. the failure put a hole in my exhaust and burned a good portion of the stock body work. after a litte research, suzuki had a recall on this part in europe...not the us...and with the 2001 models, the part was replaced with steel. none of the dealers in the houston area will help me with this problem. with the recall in europe and the part going to steel in 2001 admits that it was a problem...a potentially deadly one. *ak

The aluminum subframe was recalled by suzuki of europe for being defective. there have now been several documented failures here in the us. also, an independent testing company in europe tested the subframes and found them to be defective by design. suzuki of america is ignoring the problem and i am concerned for my safety when riding my bike. i am especially concerned when my wife rides with me. please look into this issue asap.

I am not reporting a failure. rather i am reporting that i am materially impacted by the rear subframe failures on suzuki gsx1300r motorcycles (several in uk; as many as 40 worldwide) because suzuki refuses to recall and replace the failing subframes. i am impacted because no aftermarket luggage manufacturer will produce luggage for a motorcycle with known rear subframe failures. suzuki's position on this issue is completely unreasonable; they say the gsx1300r was 'not designed to carry luggage'. this is like a car manufacturer saying, after the fact, that you cannot use a roof rack, or a truck manufacturer saying you cannot tow a trailer. the gsx1300r was mcn 1999 sport touring motorcycle of the year; now suzuki says it cannot carry luggage. i would like to see suzuki forced to recall / replace all of the alloy subframes with the available steel subframe. only if all alloy subframes are recalled can the luggage manufacturers feel confident that their luggage cannot be fitted to an alloy subframe, leading to potential failures and liability. please study the many subframe failures and force suzuki to do the right thing! |
