Initially car had minor electrical issues, i.e. clock would not work, problems with passenger side power windows. right wheel hub assembly had to be replaced. check engine light, surging and stalling at idle, upon filling gas tank, it would stop every gallon of gas put in, faulty intake manifold gasket had to be replaced. new spark plugs, air filter, clogged throttle body. car now stalls/dies at idle when first starting up, outside temp gauge works intermittently, car suddenly loses power at intersections, loses power when making turns, jerks while driving at low speeds, feels like breaks are being applied driving downhill at highway speeds, air conditioner causes rpms to go below 750 and surge. these cars are a death trap on wheels and need to be fixed or replaced at no cost to the owner before someone gets killed! *tr

I am having serious problems with my lifters where there is a continuous rattling sound, as well as a continuous tapping sound. i was never informed when i purchased my car brand new in november 2004 that there were any recalls on this vehicle as i have never received any information.

Suzuki verona 2004 purchased the car new had engine replaced and on 3 rd transmission. car recently was parked with a child inside of it and went up in flames fortunately no one was injured. car was destroyed and total. suzuki has had major issues with this vehicle and refuse to do anything. this car is a death trap waiting to happen. i had the serviced regularly and had a certified suzuki dealership to do all warrant work on vehicle and it was regularly serviced. *tr

I purchased my 2004 suzuki verona on jan. 30, 2007. from the second day i own it, it has made noise like it was a diesel engine. i was told that the ticking sound coming from the top end of the motor was normal, that it was the self adjusting cam gears. i could hear a rod knocking in the lower end of the motor but no one at the service department could hear it and their trained to hear these type of things. suzuki supposedly rebuilt the top end of the motor but the ticking continued. they then were supposedly to have replaced the short block ( the lower end of the motor) but the rod continues to knock to this day. the car has died at speeds between 35 mph up to 70 mph. it died one day as i was making a left hand turn and i was barely able to avoid being broad sided by an on-coming vehicle where my mother could have been injured or killed. the car also surges forward sometimes when trying to stop or sitting still. it dies sometimes at take off causing me to nearly be rear ended quit a few times. i sued suzuki for breech of warranty and even though i did not get awarded what they should have had to pay, they did pay, admitting guilt. suzuki lies about work performed, they avoid doing work that is necessary. and then they deny all previous lies that they have told. and they claim to have one of the best warranties in america. *tr

2004 suzuki verona warranty issues. consumer had a problem with the dealership and charges for the repairs to his vehicle. *nj the consumer stated the check light had illuminated. a diagnosis determined there was a problem with the fuel sensor and egr valve. the vehicle continued to stall out in traffic sporadically and the tachometer jumped up and down. the dealership could not find any codes showing problems and the check engine light did not come on again. the consumer was also advised transmission fluid was leaking and the radiator and lines needed to be replaced. *jb

Periodic low idle miss occurred first for the last several months, occasionally, the check engine light would come on with it for a very short time. now, the engine stalls out at traffic stops. have recently been experiencing a forward surge upon pressing on the gas feed from a stop or low speed. i feel that my safety is at risk, i am afraid to make a left turn for fear the car will stop in front of oncoming traffic, be rear ended, or i could surge forward into another vehicle or pedestrian. i do not get any type of warning that this about to occur (the check engine light does not come on typically, and if it does come on occasionally with this problem, it does not light up until after the surge or power failure occurs. i am contacting the local dealership (52 miles away is the closest one). *tr

2004 suzuki verona problems with jolting after being stopped. consumer states that when the accelerator was depressed the engine would not register it right away until about 3 seconds or so then the vehicle would lurch forward. *kb the consumer also stated the check engine light would illuminate as well. while driving, suddenly the vehicle started dropping speed, the engine was running; there was simply no connection between the running engine and the gas pedal. because the consumer had the cruise control set, the gas pedal lodged into the floor board trying to maintain cruising speed. several components were replaced to try and resolve the problem such as the transmission, head gaskets, pcv, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, catalytic converter, and o2 sensor. the abs light illumined in october 2006. in march 2007 a new abs module was installed. *jb

Since i first bought this car in dec 2004 i have had problems, the car was bought brand new the car has repeatedly cutoff in the middle of traffic, equipment failure that some how can never be duplicated when it is taken to the dealer. suzuki and the dealership i purchased the car from are aware of the problems that i have had with this car. the cutting off has been going on for almost 3 years without it properly being fixed. this car is a lemon after all the problems i have experienced with this car the company stopped making them a year after i purchased mine, this was according to the dealership that i purchased my verona from. within 15-30 days of having the vehicle the problems started, it was in the shop enough that we were told one more time and the dealership would have to swap us out with a new one, we did not want a new one we wanted our money back, however the owner of the dealership refused. we have been attempting to get this matter taken care of with this car, it is no longer under warranty so all expenses have to be paid by me, but it is the same problems that i have been dealing with for 3 years. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 suzuki verona. the vehicle stalled when it was idle and when she attempted to accelerate at a stop sign. this has occurred since she purchased the vehicle. the failure does not occur at highway speeds; however, she is uncomfortable with the safety risk involved when the vehicle lost power. on four occasions, the dealer stated that the code isn't being read by the machine and the check engine light is not illuminated. the failure mileage was 11,000 and the current mileage was 25,000.

I am the owner of a 2004 suzuki verona. within 2 weeks of purchase this car has been in the shop up to at least 20 times. check engine light goes on and off every other day or so. that really did not bother me so much. last winter the car decided to not accept fuel. they fixed the problem after about 2 weeks. for the last 4 or more months this car stalls, it surges, it accelerates above 3000 rpm at stop lights, it almost or does die at intersections, it just decides to not go 60 and slows you down to 40 like the brakes have come on. i carry around my 4 year old everyday in this car i work 60 miles from my home. everyday i do not know what this car will do and it scares me that my son and i will be in an accident or how will it be like on ice and snow this winter. this car takes a big chunk of my paycheck and i feel it would be better if i didn't drive this car. suzuki this car is a joke never again would i ever buy another suzuki anything. i believe this calls for some action on all these people in this situation. make it right suzuki. *jb

At speeds of 65-75 mph on the highway after about 15 minutes slowing down to get off the highway, the engine is loud and sounds like a diesel engine. sounds like top end rocker arm knocking, i took it to the dealer and they said that they could not take the car over 55mph. i told them it only does it between 65-75 whicj is the speed limit on the highways south of the car dealer. they only took it at 55mph and did not hear it. there is one other reference complaint that i have found here that states he is going through the same thing. ref # 10095916 . *ak

Purchased suzuki verona in april, 2004. noticed early on that the engine sounded too loud. when car is heated and upon acceleration it gets louder. the engine idles rough like a diesel engine and at times knocks. i have mentioned to the service dept. everytime i take it in for oil changes and they act like they don't hear or know what i am talking about. i even had the tech. ride around with me so that he could hear what i was talking about. he mentioned it could be lifters or timing chain and would have the office call to see if there were any recalls. very reluctant to do anything. finally in september the car stalled in the middle of the street. had to be towed home. started up again the next day. then i received the recall notice. the ecm has been replaced and no more stalling so far, but the engine just does not sound right. no response from the dealer. currently car only has 6,800 miles on it but it sounds like it is twenty years old. again no response from dealer. they don't seem interested in trying to fix the problem. i will not recommend this car to anyone and am sorry to say that i regret purchasing the suzuki verona. *jb

I bought my suzuki verona jan 2004 and had problems from the first week. the radio would not work because they couldn't find the code so they had to take it out to reprogram, the car would not go forward when i hit the gas pedal, the transmission would jerk, then worst of all it would just cut off whether sitting still or in motion. in that six month period, i had to drive 6 loaner vehicles. people began to ask me if i owned a car lot because i was always in a different car! ;o)so i filed a lemon law claim and after 6 months i got a brand new verona. but the story doesn't end there because after 1 month and a half of my new verona replacement, it cut off on me while i was driving down the street. same problem as my first verona. the thing that got me during my first ordeal was the fact that suzuki did not believe me which is why i had to go file a claim. but now, from what i have been told this time around, my car along with 3 other veronas are now sitting in the shop waiting for suzuki to come and fix them. so i am in loaner car number 7. good luck to you all who have not experience any problems. but if you do, don't let them fool you. i am a witness that this car has major problems. *ak pe04062_cat

I bought a 2004 suzuki verona 4 door sedan, in october 2003. since then i have taken it to the dealership numerous times, they keep sending me away without fixing it, they say when the car stalls thats the way it was designed. and all the cars i have owned in the past i've never heard of them being designed to stall!! it does not accelerate properly, the car stalls miss fires when cold, it doesn't shift right, the service person said that it was my driving (bull)! the mechanic supposed to fix the clock three times and still doesn't work, the heated seats don't work properly, the cigerette liter doesn't work, they said it was the fuse but the fuses are good. i am extremely unhappy with the proformance of this car, they have told me that nobody else has had any complaints, that mine is the first.there needs to be something done before somebody gets hurt or even killed, especially today when i tried to pull out into traffic and it didn't wont to accelerate it started to go and it wouldn't move, after i proceeded to go it wouldn't do nothing almost causing me to get hit by an on coming car, that wouldn't slow down!!! disgusted in south carolina!!! i would not reccomend a suzuki to anyone, they are all junk. *la pe04062_cat

I have a 2004 suzuki verona and about 3000 miles it stalled after driving it with the airconditioner set at about 72 degrees in hot weather the car restarted about 2-3 hours after cooling off. i have experienced this about 3 times now. i took the car into the dealer the first time it happened and they could not do anything to it because the car was working properly. the 3rd time it happened was at the dealership after driving it for an 1 1/2 in hot weather again. it is currently there and what made it interesting is that there is another verona being serviced for the same reason. both suzuki headquaters and the dealer are being very cooperative and are working with me to resolve the issue.*ak pe04062_cat

I purchased my vehicle in oct 2003. since then i have taken it in numerous times, where i was told at one time the vehicle was designed to stall. never heard that before. anyhow, it stalls, even now the weather is warmed up, it still stalls from time to time. it also does not accelerate properly, i had contacted suzuki who claimed they would call me back and never have to this day. i have had a fuel pump put in, the hold button needed to be fixed because it depressed and wouldn't depress (while i was cleaning vehicle). it hesitates when driving at a steady pace as well. the customer service i have received from both the dealer and suzuki is terrible. whenever i am approached in public while traveling and people ask how i like my suzuki and it's warranty, i tell them don't buy it and you will need the warranty. i have never bought a brand new car before. since we purchased the verona we have since purchased a 2004 dodge neon, while not fancy, it runs great and the dealership is awesome. i told them about my experience at suzuki and told them i hope they would treat me better, so far so good. the suzuki dealership said i could trade the verona in and they would give me $16,000 for it, while we just paid $21,000. great deal! that would be like renting a car for 4 months at $1,000 per month. we decided to keep the car and keep taking it in when we have time to do so. i would highly recommend that no one purchase this car unless they are bored and want to drive their mechanic around town in their spare time.*ak pe04062_cat

My 2004 suzuki verona currently has 102,000 miles on it, but started hesitating and stalling at 50,000 miles. upon stopping at an intersection, the accelerator could be pressed to the floor and the vehicle would hesitate for several seconds and then surge forward. it would also stall at intersections at times. the check engine light would light at times, but not always. the local dealership began addressing this issue at 50,000 miles and followed the repairs approved by the suzuki rep. this led to the vehicle being in for the same issue at least a half dozen times after the initial repair. suzuki continued to approve partial repairs, but never approved the complete repair of the issue. this resulted in a reoccurenc as recently june of 2010, and once again partial repairs were approved. once the vehicle passed the 100,000 mark in september, the issue occurred again, but suzuki refused any responsibility to further address the issue which left the vehicle un-driveable. the vehicle is currently at 102,000 miles and suzuki has failed to ever correct the issue, but now will do nothing because the vehicle is out of warranty. suzuki continued to make partial repairs to my vehicle although they realized that their efforts were failing to correct the issue, and began to do full engine replacements of other veronas with the same issue.

When driving at slow speeds the engine stalls. most recently this happened during stop and go driving at about 7 mph. when accelerating out of a stop the car jerks and lunges forward. when driving at highway speeds the car runs rough. when accelerating to higher speeds the car hesitates and jerks. customer has taken car into 4 different mechanics for these problems - most recently to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the stalling. various attempts have been made to fix the rough running (spark plugs, alignment correction), but the problem persists.

Dt*: the contact stated while stopping at an intersection the engine stalled. there were no warning lights illuminated prior the incident. a recall letter was received in reference to the ignition switch however the recall was not listed in the office of defect investigation database. the dealership performed several repairs but the problem persisted every time the vehicle was stopped at an intersection. there was progressively worsening difficulties to restart the engine. there was also a loud noise in the engine while driving on interstate highways. the vehicle was taken to the dealer twenty times. an attempt was made to pursue the lemon law but advice was provided to give the dealership another attempt to solve the engine defect. the engine was even replaced but the problems persisted. eventually, the lemon law was no longer applicable because the vehicle had more than 18,000 miles. the dealership finally determined the engine problem was due to defective injectors. the manufacturer was contacted who left the resolution up to the dealership.

After fox valley suzuki reprogrammed my computer due to recall, the engine has a lifter knock, especially after going 55-65 mph on the highway. sounds like a diesel engine. took it to the dealer twice, they say that it is normal, but i know that it is not normal. also when ac is on, there is a whing noise while the car is in motion, dealer claims they cannot hear. left turn signal sticks, dealer claimed that they fixed, but sticks on during hot weather. i am afraid that the engine is going to blow, i have been driving the car on the highway back and forth to work with the lifter knock. please help! thank you.

I am sending you this complaint in an attempt to inform you of suzuki motor company that is located in you state. i live in texas but have been dealing with suzuki for over a year now trying to get them to make repairs to my vehicle so that i may not end up in a serious accident caused by the suzuki verona i own. my information may not be completely accurate but what i have read does warrant an investigation on your part. the suzuki verona was a model of daewoo then suzuki bought daewoo from general motors. one of the vehicles they put out on the market was the verona, i assume without making any changes to its drivetrain. i have read that the engine designed by daewoo was not designed to be operated using any type of fuel that contains ethanol. all fuel has atleast 10% ethanol no matter where you go in america. daewoo never intended for this vehicle to be sold in america. but suzuki put it on the market in america without any concern of what the consequences might be to the public. i have read over a hundred and fifty complaints about the verona and they all complain about the same thing, the engine. the engine has died on my verona while i have been on the highway and when i have been on regular surface streets. it has surged a few times and on one occasion i struck my brother while he was attempting to open our garage door. luckily i did not hit him very hard so he was not injured, just scratches. but could you imagine if a mother goes to pick up her children and while sitting at a crosswalk near the school her engine surges and the vehicle jumps into the crosswalk and strikes children possibly killing them or crippling them for life. suzuki has gone out of its way to do everything to avoid doing the proper repairs or replacing the engine. i have been lied to by the service department manager here in ft. worth and i have been lied to by the district service rep. ( jeff marris ), about the engine. *tr

Nov. 14, 2005 6:45 am - this is the 3rd time this year that this 2004 suzuki verona has had an engine stalled problem. the first was jan. 07, 2005 and the 2nd time was jan. 24, 2005. i took my car in to the ferman chrysler/jeep/suzuki dealership today (again) and left it with service manager, brian cummings. brian said he will check the car out, then get in touch with suzuki to see what they will do. i advised brian that this is the 3rd time in less than 24 months as required by the lemon law for this vehicle to have the same problem in order for the vehicle to be replaced. brian said he will have someone call me back today between 2-3pm with the status. i called suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934 and spoke w/ orlando at ext. 2471. i explained the situation to orlando and advised him that this is the 3rd engine stalled failure with my car. he said this is the first notice they have had of this problem. this was much to my surprise as i was advised on the 1st and 2nd failure that the ferman dealership was in contact with suzuki. orlando said they might have gotten in touch with the florida district manager, patricia robinson who apparently did not notify suzuki either as there is no record of this matter from her. (orlando advised me that he could not give out the dist. mgr's ph# and addr. because this is her personal residence). i advised orlando that i do not want this car back as i am afraid of an accident occurring and that i would like to evoke the lemon law. orlando said that is up to my state to decide that . (???!) i obtained the address where orlando is located for automotive customer service 3251 e. imperial hwy. brea, calif. 92822. he would not give me the name of a manager to address my letter to. orlando said he would contact the dealership, then he will call me within 24-48 hours with the status. needless to say, i am not very happy at this point. *nm
