| Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki vzr1800 motorcycle. the contact stated that the vehicle would shift out of gear from first to second without any warning. the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop who diagnosed that one of the knots on the clutch was loose and the shifter was defective which would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not contacted to report the failure. the vehicle was not further repaired. the failure mileage was 1,600 and the current mileage was 11,000. | |||

| Rear brake rotor on 2006 m109r suzuki motorcycle, what is suppose to be a semifloating rotor has turned into a full floating rotor (the rivets that attach the outer ring to the inner ring have become loose, both side-to-side and front-to-back). suzuki told me at 9k miles this was normal, yet other owners have had theirs replaced at no charge. i have since bought another rotor but i still have the old one. also the bike is developing a violent shutter (clutch related i think) when starting off, doesn't do it every time but when it does the only way to correct it is to pull in the clutch all the way and start over. this could be quite hazardous if you have traffic behind you. *tr | |||

| 1.) entering the highway and moving into traffic. 2.) transmission failure. 3.) 2nd and 3rd gear and all three shifter forks are being replaced. no coverage from suzuki or 3rd party extended warranty (western states). bike was purchased in july of 2006, 11k mi. at time of failure. feel that the dealership did what they could to get it covered. *tr | |||

| The 3rd day i had this bike it was in for clutch chatter, dying in intersection if not disengage clutch fast can jerk and fall over, countless time in shop but till a mechanic came back shaking like a chain smoker that had stop smoking for 6hrs. now. the second one will be changed just after 1,525miles not safe, clutch not burned and pads were in good shape and very clean, i pay 497.00 every 2,000miles on a complete clutch system just to be safe. *tr | |||

| I own a suzuki m109r the first 1,000miles everything seam good but all of a sudden, about 1 to 2 times a day i would get a clutch chatter and would make the motorcycle come to a halt and stop the engine and the bike would come to a screeching holt on the street.. have taken it in 3times for this and i was told that the motorcycle was ok and cant duplicate the problem.. now after 10,000miles and this clutch chatter is worst than ever, now the bike will do a chatter at ever other light now, stopping dead cold in the middle of intersection. at this point at all intersections i was having to ride on the sidewalk just so i will not be run over when the the light turns green.. now i took the bike in because of safety and low and behold the mechanic came back with eyes big and round, this scared him bad. the manufacturer (suzuki)said it is the clutch, so dealer took it apart and said that the clutch is not burned and the actual pads were not abused. all looks good it looks so good that the dealer is putting back the old clutch and just see if it might work right with a different oil than the suzuki brand. but the only bad thing about the whole thing is the clutch is not burned and the actually clutch plates look the same as the new ones that are going to be installed this tuesday if the old one with different oil in the crank case don?t stop the chatter. before i left friday i was told the suzuki will not warranty the clutch even though the clutch was not abused and/or burned.. this clutch system is very unsafe and is a accident just ready to happen. *tr | |||

| The suzuki m109r (vzr1800) has a clutch or transmission problem. intermittent slipping or jumping in and out of 1st gear. many, many times this motorcycle will slip or jump out of gear when engaging the clutch and pulling away from a stop. many, many complaints from other riders of this bike with the same problem. suzuki and their dealers disavow any knowledge of this problem. please visit the m109r riders forum and querry clutch or transmission problems. *tr | |||

| Adjusted clutch several times per owners manual. seems the cable is stretching or nut holding clutch basket is loosening up. clutch slipping when throttling up in 2nd and 3rd gear. calling suzuki. *jb | |||

| Motorcycle clutch intermittently fails to engage without shaking, sometimes too much to start riding. safety issue, has happened when turning left in front of oncoming traffic. the bike is unable to take off, until i try one or two more times pulling the clutch lever. i've learned not to assume i can safely proceed through an intersection while there are other vehicles around. this problem was originally fixed (mostly) by suzuki soon after i bought the bike in 2006, but would occasionally happen still. now it is bad again, and of course, the bike is out of warranty. upon inspection of the clutch components yesterday i found no excessive or unusual wear and no apparent reason for this to happen. i took the recommendation of others with the same problem and adjusted the clutch basket springs for a tighter fit within their holders (built into the unit) and things seem better for now, i still will not trust the motorcycle in traffic. i think suzuki should redesign and recall this part. *tr | |||

| This is a second gear issue. the bike has always had a bad meshing problem between first and second gear as does all of the suzuki m109r bikes. my bike really started getting worse at towards the end of 2010 and finally started jumping out of second gear at the end of sept., 2010. it is a consistent issue that happens anytime a load is put on the engine in second gear which effects the acceleration of the bike. the problem will continue to get worse if the bike is continuely ridden which affects my time on the bike and to fix the problem is going to cost anywheres between $2500-$3000. | |||

| Transmission problem. notice it was getting hard to place into gear and a mile later the clutch would not engage. can put in neutral, but when put in first gear it would jump while holding the clutch in and it would stall and not function. took it to the shop and they thought the clutch plates needed replacing and thought that would solve the problem. the plates were checked and in good condition, and the mechanic told me they would have to replace the transmission which could cost a few thousand dollars. i went on several bike forums and there were many with the same issue. the bike is only three years old and has only 18,000 miles on it. *tr | |||

| I have 2006 suzuki m109r and my bike is having clutch judder/shudder, occasional rear wheel jump when releasing clutch also rattle at idle in clutch/clutch hub area, clutch springs rattle while motorcycle is being driven or in neutral/idle and sometimes harsh vibration on acceleration between 2800-4000 rpms. motorcycle has less than 2000 miles on the odo and clutch rattling started at around 1500 miles. sometimes it's very hard to engage clutch and clutch needs to be primed every time i'm trying to place it into 1st gear (i.e. have to hold the clutch in for 5 to 10 seconds to get good engagement) and unless it's primed for a while when 1st gear is engaged motorcycle will make loud thunk/clunk noise and it'll lurch/jump forward. on occasion 2nd gear will refuse to engage i have to engage/disengage clutch couple times in order to get it into 2nd gear which poses potential danger to myself and other traffic due to motorcycle losing speed at high rate. talked to my local suzuki dealer and i was told rattling in clutch area is normal as is gears slipping. *tr | |||
