Was on my 2007 suzuki m109r and sitting at a light i was making a left hand turn after light turned green. as i made the turn i went to shift into second gear and it went into second gear then slipped back into neutral causing me to lose my concentration and almost hitting car next to me. i am a member of the m109rider message board and have found this is a very common problem with this motorcycle http://www.m109riders.com/forums/search.php?searchid=865572 this is a serious safety issue due to it happens when a rider is starting to accelerate (possibly like me in a turn or merging into traffic) and is likely to eventually cause either a serious accident with injuries or possibly death.

2007 suzuki m109r transmission failure. second gear pops out when the throttle is about 4000+ rpm and slams back into gear. the result is a bent shift fork and rounded off gear engegement tangs (dogs). removed the engine and transmission on my own, and replaced suspected problem parts in the transmission such as: shift forks (to updated part numbers), shift fork shafts (to solid 14mm 4140 steel rods), unercut or backcut the gears by 5 degrees (to allow positive engagement of the dogs without slipping apart). the backcutting alone could be the sole fix for suzuki, if they produced these parts like this (5 degree cut) from the factory, and solid shift shafts prevent warpage to occur and the shift forks to positively engage the dogs. although the bike was out of warranty, and research shows that suzuki is very reluctant to even admit this is a problem, it is dangerous and costly for the owners..

Tl - the contact owns a 2007 suzuki vzr1800. the contact stated that the motorcycle would drop out of gear and he was unable to change to the second gear. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the motor was too powerful for the gear box which caused the failure, as a result the gear box needed to be upgraded. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offered any assistance since it was not included on any recalls. the motorcycle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 6,200. pm

I was riding along side a semi-truck when the driver of the semi-truck decided to change lanes. my assumption is that the driver did not see me and proceeded to change lanes. i tried to speed up and that's when my motorcycle lost power and would not accelerate. so in order for me to avoid being run over by the truck; i had to bring my motorcycle to and abrupt stop in the middle of the road. what i believe happened was that my motorcycle slipped out of 2nd gear into neutral!!!

2007 suzuki m109r (vzr1800) le after shifting into 2nd gear, and accelerating, the motorcycle seems to be missing the gear or slipping the gear. this causes the motorcycle to shake violently and cause the rider to almost lose control. after doing research, this seems to be a known issue with these bikes for having faulty shift forks. suzuki needs to step up and fix this issue as this can be extremely dangerous.

I have a 2007 suzuki m109r motorcycle. the clutch chatters when engaging into gear & pulling off from a stop. this is very dangerous because in traffic, the bike will buck wildly as you try to pull off. this issue was brought up to my dealer but he says the bike is supposed to do this because of the high torque motor. i do not believe this. i believe the clutch is designed poorly. i also had a problem with my rear brake rotor as it came very loose & would make a screeching sound as i applied the brakes. the dealer also said this is normal & that nothing was wrong with it. after arguing & being persisted. they replaced the rotor under warranty but did not give me any paperwork on the work that was done. *tr

Brand new motorcycle with 500 miles on it. clutch or tranny is not right. dealer says it's fine, but it shifts like a mack truck. rear brake rotor is so loose, it almost wiggles a quarter of an inch either way. still battling suzuki, or at least my dealer over the shifting and rear brake problem. *tr

While riding my suzuki m109 motorcycle the clutch would not engage. as i squeeze the clutch the bike just jerk forward and cut off. there was tension on the cable but the clutch will not engage. hear a spinning sound coming from the right side. this has happen to great number of bikes. it appear that the tube nut in the clutch came loose this is a internal nut that is not serviceable. its apparent that this safety issue is caused by the manufacture. i own this bike for one year and 24 days and have 5400 miles on it. if you look at the m109riders.com web sit you will see how many people had this safety concern. if i did not get off the highway in time i would not be writing this complain please have suzuki do a safety recall before someone dies from this failure. thanks you. *tr

2007 suzuki m109r le motorcycle 9300 miles 2nd gear popping out of gear when accelerating. gear also slips while accelerating. this is due to a bent shift fork which is damaging the gear. faulty manufacturing on the part of suzuki. local dealer quoted around $3000 to repair. this could cause an accident or even death. suzuki had superseeded the faulty part with a new part number. this occurs everytime.

Suzuki boulevard 2007, m109r. shifting gears becomes very difficult over time and then as it increases the gears then pop out of drive and lose the ability to engage . when driving on the highway it's especially dangerous to lose that function as i found , i was rear ended. this trying to place back in gear damages the clutch and universal and main drive gear.

I am the owner of a beautiful 2007 m109r suzuki motorcycle. the motorcycle's transmission has been a constant source of issues from the date i purchased the vehicle. i experience clutch shudder where the entire clutch basket skips and forces the motorcyle to shake violently until you re-engage the clutch. the shift from 1st to 2nd gear never goes smoothly, several times the motorcycle has shifted out of second upon accelleration, nearly causing a collision with a suv while i was trying to merge into traffic just last week. the tube nut on the clutch hub came loose from the factory assembly on this motorcycle, causing the clutch to lock up and fully engage the motor. i am a former msf instructor, i've owned several motorcycles in the past 10 years with many many miles in the saddle. this a dangerous and unnacceptable condition for any motorcyclist. furthermore, these issues are not being caused by abuse of the motorcycle, this is exactly what suzuki claims is responsible for the issue, not the weak engineering behind the transmission.

Subject is my and others 2007 suzuki boulevard 109 motorcycle, 2nd gear defect/failure.i went on the website of m109riders.com and discovered that there are several of the same cases around the country and all of them are of the 2nd gear jumping out into the neutral position, which i hope doesn't result in some one getting killed or seriously hurt. not too far from where i live, there is a suzuki dealership that has seen 7 of the same cases of what i'm experiencing come into there dealership and the mechanic says himself that suzuki is refusing to do a recall in fear of hurting their future sales of this new model because of the 2nd gear defective/ failure . i've put a forum on m109riders.com asking if any one else was experiencing the same thing i have been and i received an over whelming of emails and phone calls of angry and livid motorcycle owners of this particular motorcycle. i've received calls from all over the country about the 2nd gear jumping out of gear then into neutral position on this motorcycle, which is very dangerous for any one that experience this. the boulevard 109 from the years, 2006 1st model to 2009 is where the problem is coming from and i

I stopped for a signal light. the clutch on the motorcycle locked up and would not disengage. the motorcycle surged forward. i had to kill the engine by using the emergency kill switch. i had to have the motorcycle transported to the repair shop. after disassembly, it was determined that the tubular nut on the (gear assy., primary drive sku: 21100-48g00) had backed off. this allowed the primary gear to move preventing the clutch assembly from operating. i checked the internet an found that many people have experienced this problem. i was lucky that when mine locked up i was stopped and was able to kill power with the emergency switch. i was also lucky in that i was the first vehicle in line and didn't rear end anyone. if this had occurred when i was moving i could have had a serious accident. i called the suzuki technical help line asking for the torque spec for the tubular nut. suzuki refused to give it to me. i was told that i had to buy a new assembly from a suzuki dealership. there is nothing wrong with the existing components other than they were not assembled properly. the tubular nut was not torqued properly. if i buy a new assembly what change has suzuki made to prevent the problem from occurring in the future. i want suzuki to cover the cost of this repair. *tr

2007 suzuki m109r motorcycle. 13,000 miles. while at red light bike abruptly jumps forward causing bike to fall over. with help got bike up, still doing same problem needed towed. took to dealer found tube nut had came off of gear shaft and ruined clutches a $700.00 repair which i paid. after getting online i found out this is a problem many bikers have contacted american suzuki with this problem but know recall or warranty was done. i contacted them and all they told me was i should have bought an extended warranty. alot of good that would have done if i got hurt or killed. this is a severe safety problem and the dealer can not guarantee this from happening again. suzuki should make this a recall and should reimburse the people who have paid for this not knowing this is common in this bike. i am 57yrs old bought bike 2yrs ago so i am not driving around popping wheelies or beating this bike. the customer service person at suzuki told me there was nobody higher then her that i could speak too and said she never heard of this problem. *tr

I have had numerous issues with my clutch shuttering from day one. i took it to my dealer and they adjusted the cable and told me it was a slipper clutch to keep me from wheeling. i later found out that was a lie. i took it to another dealer to do my first service and complete a recall. i had them address the shutter issue and they stated it was normal, although my clutch was adjusted a little loose. we relocated to ca and i took my bike in for it's 2nd service and mentioned the clutch shutter again, and they have had many complaints but suzuki says it's normal. 3 months after that i was leaving work getting on the freeway and my bike had a very harsh shutter then did it again going into 3rd gear. next thing i know i'm going 60mph and my clutch cable broke. i have ridden bikes for over 25 years and i have never had this type of issue with any bike. i have read up on many suzuki owners forums and apparently this is a very common problem. suzuki in australia has determined the clutch hub is the problem not allowing enough oil to lube the clutch disc. they also have a ongoing recall to repair the problem. *tr

It's been two weeks since i took my bike to the dealer for the fuel rail recall and since then i've experienced the clutch judder/rear wheel jump when releasing clutch twice! and last night i'm at a stop light in 1st gear. i take off and try to shift into 2nd gear with no luck. the shifter was stuck in 1st gear! luckily i was in the far right lane so i pulled over and hit the kill switch. i tried everything i could think of to get the bike into neutral, i rocked it back and forth and still couldn't get it out of 1st gear. so i pulled in the clutch and started the bike. with the clutch still pulled in the bike starts to move! so i hit the kill switch again. finally, i decided to drive it in 1st gear and get off the side of the road. so i started the bike in 1st gear, eased off the clutch and rode about a block to a parking lot. while in the parking lot i was finally able to get the bike into neutral. once that happened it seemed to be shifting fine. so i headed back home which was about 7-8 miles away. it shifted fine and drove fine all the way home. i pulled into my driveway and hit my garage door opener and pulled into the garage. pulled in the clutch and tried to shift into neutral and it's stuck again! well, it turns out my clutch hub nut backed off. the dealer said that the plates were not damaged and that they were waiting on a new nut and basket from suzuki. i asked him if this was something that i have to look forward to every 3500 miles and he said that he thinks the hub nuts were not tightened properly when originally assembled. *tr
