TIRES
09/03/2012
In september 2012, while on interstate 15 returning from a camping trip, a passenger-side tire on our toy hauler trailer came apart, losing all tread and doing cosmetic and structural damage to the area around the tire and wheel well. upon inspection the second tire on the same side of the trailer was found to have the tread beginning to separate, evidenced by a bulge in the tread. the 2 tires on the driver-side appeared to be fine. all 4 tires were 2 years old (purchased july 2010) and showed no obvious signs of damage or abnormal wear (no cracks, discoloring, etc). they are covered to protect them from the elements when the trailer is not in use, are checked for proper air pressure regularly, and the trailer has never been loaded to where it would exceed the trailer or tires load ratings. the tire manufacturer stated that they only warrant tires for 2 years from date of purchase and refused to stand behind their product. we eventually bought 4 new tires from a different manufacturer and are currently having the trailer repaired.
