I have a 2005 avalon and there is a hesitation between the pushing of the brake pedal and the actual braking of the car, the same is true for the gas pedal. the service manager at the dealership went on a test drive with me and told me that these actions were found in other toyota products and there was not yet a fix on them. i had taken the car back three times and on the final repair trip the service department wrote that the car was to manufacturer specs. i have filed a complaint with toyota and have not received a response as of yet. *jb

We leased a new 2005 toyota avalon.immediately, after driving 6 miles,we started hearing a clunk from the left rear. i called toyota and they said they would check it when i came back to put the spoiler on.they were able to duplicate the noise and kept the car for several days. i did get corporate toyota involved because this dealership has been untrustworthy since day one when the lease was written up wrong-they called and said they needed to replace the left rear lower sub frame and bushings because they were worn. how could it be worn if the noise started after 6 miles-by then i had driven 400 miles. they told me they had to order the parts but that the car was safe to drive. when i went to pick up the car,i asked 2 other people, the advisor and the mechanic if the car was safe to drive because i was going to drive it from san francisco to los angeles, they both said yes. as they were handing me the keys to leave, another mecjanic came runing over and said the car was dangerous to drive and i could not have it. while i was very glad the other mechanic caught the mistake,he said no one had written on my paperwork that the car was unsafe to drive,i did indeed drive a dangerous car that was not safe to drive for 2 weeks. while if this was a used car,i probably would not be writing this, but it was a brand new car! what if something would have happened to me while driving prior to me taking it in,and -god forbid-the other mechanic did not catch the mistake- i thought when we bought new cars they are to be safe to drive!
