We had an automobile accident on august 30, 2012 in bayamon, puerto rico between 11:15 to 11:30 pm. we received a first impact on the left back door of the car and another in the front (bumper) of the car, because the car impact made it go round and impact a fence. unfortunately the airbags never open, so we received injuries. *tr

I was driving 30 mph when the vehicle in front of me, going 30 mph as well, suddenly switches onto the left lane without using their turning signals in effort to avoid the parked car in front of them, leaving me little time to brake before crashing into the car. i drive a toyota corolla 2005 and the hood was completely bent forward along with the front sides making it hard to open the front doors, cracked head lights, bumper slightly detached, and a broken radiator. the air bags did not launch at all even though the impact required it. i was driving with a passenger who hurt their knee and i'm dealing with neck and back problems.

On november 12, 2009, my passenger and i were rear-ended at approximately 35 mph when we were stopped, waiting for someone to make a left. the airbag warning said that the airbags deployed, but they didn't and the airbag warning had to be re-calibrated to work properly. on november, 24, 2010, we were stopped, and rear-ended, and the same thing happened. on september 20, 2011, a lady stopped very suddenly in front of me. i could not stop quick enough, and rear-ended her. i was the only person in my corolla ce. the car was totaled, and there was enough force that a back seat popped down without me releasing it (it's a pop-down back seat from the trunk). yet, no airbags deployed. i had a headache for three days, my neck and shoulders still hurt, and my left thigh is still tender. when i paid for the vehicle and subsequent repairs, all parts should have worked including the airbags. that i am writing to you is by g-d's grace, not toyota's. i think there should have been a massive recall, and i was never informed, but i know that there was one from searching the internet.

2005 toyota corolla vin # 2t1br30e35c408436 had air bag light go on 10/2009. brought to a1 toyota new haven ct and told there was a front passenger side probelm. waited over 2 months for new air bag harness (car not drivable) and harness replaced (3400 dollars). air bag light went back on 11/2010 and brougth back to same dealer 12/2010. clockspring in steering wheel replaced and tension tightended on front passenger side air bag wiring at cost of 530 dollars. air bag light went off after this repair but went back on again a week after last repair made. a1 toyota notified. had notified customer service at national level (they were not interested) and notified regional toyota office (thery referred me back to dealer...) so a huge safety issue and car defintely not safe to drive... wouls appreciate you looking into thsi issue.

I was in a acident last week, someone turned left in front of me. we were going straight through the intersection. our air bags did not deploy, a number of people (rescure personal, auto repair shop) all mentioned that were surprised the air bags did not deploy. we were going around 15 to 20 mph, i am not sure if this has happened to others or if the bags should have gone off or it this is the correct place to report it. all i can say thanks for seat belts, we would have been just more than just brusing. sincerely, *jb

My daughter drove a 2005 toyota corolla, she was in a wreck today that totaled her car, taking the front end of her car off, she was hit by a commercial size wrecker that lost control, her air bags never deployed. they should have. toyota has to look into why the air bags do not work on these cars. my daughter brandy mcnamee is going to be ok but had the truck hit her more to her side instead of the passenger side she would have suffered with no air bags. thank you betty. *nm

2005 toyota corolla. consumer states air bag failed to deploy during accident. consumer requests an investigation of 2005 corolla design flaws. *tgw the toyota responded to the consumer by writing; the accident did not fall within the parameters for deployment. the type of injuries the consumer sustained would not have been prevented by the deployment of the air bag. a broken sternum and rib was a common injury sustained by an occupant when the seat belt locks up and restrains them. *jb

While traveling at 35mph on a 50mph roadway, anticipating to stop or steer off the roadway, my 2005 toyota corolla brakes and steering failed despite repeated attempts to stop or steer the vehicle to the soft shoulder to avoid rear ending the vehicle stopped ahead of me. once i applied my brakes, the steering mechanism became non responsive as though both brakes and steering failed. i watched my vehicle continued on its forward trajectory until it slammed into the rear of the vehicle at the red light. in addition, one would have expected the air bag on this vehicle to deploy at impact at this speed. to my surprise and that of the investigating officer from tampa police department, the air bag did not deploy. luckily, i was the only one in the vehicle as neither the driver's air bag nor the passenger air bag deployed. *tr

Air bag deployed without cause while driving on the highway. toyota has not been able to provide a reason as to why this happened and therefore cannot guarantee that it will not happen again. they have do little to address our concerns. they have repaired the air bag, without knowing what created the problem. they have not repaired the numerous other electrical issues we are having with the vehicle since the incident occurred. getting answers and assistance from toyota has been a nightmare. *tr

I was driving (in area where apparently a lot of accidents happen at this particular intersection) and i came to a stop sign - could only turn right or left...looked left - saw no one, then looked right - saw a truck way in the distance...so i accelerated to make a left turn and boom! i was hit on the drivers side (the side where i saw no one) - never saw it coming, car was completely totaled, and my left clavicle was broken in 5 places. side air bag never deployed, front air bag never deployed and not sure if i hit my head...but i lost consciousness for a little while. i didn't think to report it - nor did i realize that it was a problem, until now when i'm researching cars and saw that someone else had this same incident/problem. i will call toyota and report it asap. *jb
