Tl-the contact owns a 2005 toyota corolla. the contact stated that when depressing his brakes and going 50 mph and higher he noticed that there was extreme shaking of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and they advised him that they were unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle has not been repaired. he then took the vehicle to a independent mechanic and they advised him that there was no faiulure with the brakes and had at least 10 months left before he needed to replace them. the manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 74,000. tb

When i speeded up and pressed gas from 30 to 55 mile per hour at the freeway, i found the car in front of me suddenly slowed down. i was at 55 mile per hour when i found it and tried to press the brake hardly. however, the brake couldn't be pressed hardly and the car could not be stopped as soon as possible. the car slowed down slowly and hit the car in front of me, even though i tried to press the brake hardly. the brake didn't work well when the car is in the process of speeding up from low speed to high speed at the freeway.

I was driving on the interstate at around 65 mph. they were closing the right lane for road work, leading everyone to merge into one lane. i applied my brakes and they locked up. as i was moving forward and slowing down as everyone was slowing because of the merging (however, this wasn't happening smoothly, as i was skidding instead of simply decelerating), i was rear ended by a car traveling at full speed (approx 65 mph). the force of the impact hit me into grass median on the left side of the highway. while stopped for mere seconds, i had not even put the car into park yet, my car started rolling down the median's embankment, through the woods while my foot was still on the brake. i kept pressing the brake and it was not responding. i hit a tree after rolling approx 100 feet into the woods. a toyota dealer is currently doing the repairs, and told me that the brakes were in fact working when driving it around the shop at slow speeds. i feel like no one believes me, nor is even offering an explanation on how this could even happen.

2005 corolla le purchased in sept 2005. was going home today from work. i was driving slow (thx god) because of traffic. when i tried to slow down when seeing a car in front on me, the brakes won't respond. i pushed the brakes couple times but it won't slow down. so i rear ended a truck. my car front end is in pretty bad shape but since it wasn't at a high speed the frame seems to be ok. of course the truck infront of me barely has a scratch.

I have a toyota corolla 2005 model purchased in oct. 2004. i was going to work one morninig, pulling into the parking garage, i coasted up the incline til i slowed, tapped the accellerator to give it a push, and the car surged forward, not just a little, a lot! i tried to stop but only went faster, smashing into the concrete wall ahead of me, too fast to make the turn. my cars front end sustained 5000.00 in damages, undrivable. was in the shop for over a month. i was apprehensive about driving for a lon gtime, only parked on the street with plenty of room. the accellerator still surges, but i've acclimated to the handling of the car to avoid other accidents, still a couple of times have been close. anyway, this was mentioned to my service dept at toyota and was told there were no reports of problems of this nature, that was in 2006.

I was driving from santa maria to my job in lompoc california when my accelerator jumped and speeded up to 85mph i applied my brakes but nothing seems to work i lost control of my vehicle and i started spinning and right before the car was about to go off the freeway i managed to get control of the car back and come to a stop, i was terrified i thought i was going to die. it was upsetting to see how my accelerator just was out of control. i was so afraid after the accident that i took my car to the toyota dealership where they checked it and the mechanics couldn't find any problems. i don't trust my car's accelerator anymore after that horrifying incident i think toyota should do something to solve this huge life threatening problem i could have lost my life. *tr

While traveling at 35mph on a 50mph roadway, anticipating to stop or steer off the roadway, my 2005 toyota corolla brakes and steering failed despite repeated attempts to stop or steer the vehicle to the soft shoulder to avoid rear ending the vehicle stopped ahead of me. once i applied my brakes, the steering mechanism became non responsive as though both brakes and steering failed. i watched my vehicle continued on its forward trajectory until it slammed into the rear of the vehicle at the red light. in addition, one would have expected the air bag on this vehicle to deploy at impact at this speed. to my surprise and that of the investigating officer from tampa police department, the air bag did not deploy. luckily, i was the only one in the vehicle as neither the driver's air bag nor the passenger air bag deployed. *tr

I own a 2005 toyota corolla. while it is 5 years old it only has 10,530 miles on it and less when the first event occurred. last fall after idling for a few minutes i backed out of a driveway and the car began to speed up. i immediately slammed on the brakes. i couldn't figure out what happened and assumed it was somehow my fault. i had a friend with me who witnessed the whole incident. then it happened again in my parking garage. slow speed again but moving forward. i had heard about the floor pads and mine was loose so i removed it. then it happened again, in january--the day the jets lost the championship(it was before the game and no alcohol) again i was maneuvering in my sister's drive way and almost ended up in her den. *tr

The brakes failed, causing the vehicle to crash into a wall while attempting to park in a garage. also, power steering did not work during inclement weather, making the ability to maintain control of the vehicle difficult. manufacturer was contacted by consumer.*ak prior to the accident, the brakes locked up and skidded in dry road conditions. vehicle surged forward when attempting to stop vehicle. when the power steering failed the battery light came on. dealer found nothing wrong and no adjustments were made. after vehicle came back from dealer's inspection there was a grinding/scretching noise. consumer had to take vehicle back to dealer and found that the backing plate behind the rotors was bent. backing plate was bend back into place. consumer felt grinding noise was not a result of accident and/or damages occured to vehicle. *tt

In june 2006 the brakes on the 2005 toyota corolla suddenly felt loose, but they worked ,and a mechanic found no problem. i noticed that the brakes were dragging and reported this to the dealership, but before i could go in for service the brakes locked in downtown minneapolis during rush hour. i got my car to a nearby service station and they replaced the brake pads and other worn-out parts. the car was fine for a few weeks, i submitted the brake work under my warranty, then the brakes began dragging again. i brought the car to my dealership, they found no problem, and toyota denied my claim under the theory that brakes aren't covered. i think my master cylinder malfuntions when the temperature is high. toyota has no response to the problem of my brakes dragging and locking up, other than to blame me. *ak
