Toyota issued a technical service (#ac002-06) bulletin regarding the condenser not being properly protected for the 05 and 06 corolla models. they said that you could take the car to the dealership and they would install netting around the condenser- but if it is already broken- then you are out of luck. mine has been broken for two yearsp-now i am now spending over $500 to replace the condenser and my co-worker drives an 06 model and hers has been broken for a year. this is a safety concern for people driving in extreme heat. we are taking a family trip to nv this weekend, so i had to bite the bullet and get mine fixed, but this is ridiculous. how can they admit a design flaw and then not fix it:( also- my car lost 4 hubcaps within 2 weeks from purchasing it and i have noticed several others around town with the same problem. while i got some cheap ones to replace the ones i lost- having your hubcaps fly off is a definite safety issue and concern

In april 2012 i brought my vehicle to a toyota dealership for service; the check engine light was on. apparently there was a recall on the ecm of the car. it was replaced and seemed fine. in july i heard a grinding sound on my car. i brought it to a dealership and they fixed the issue. it was a problem with the fuel line. they did a flush on all fluids and other work. the car works great. a week later the vehicle is choking and jerking when i hit the gas. sounds like the transmission. dealership states it is a transmission issue. they look it over and now i need a new transmission. i've never had a problem with the car before. i was not provided information when the car was there originally about the transmision; i was driving with a bad transmission.

.......toyota has issued a technical service bulletin indicating that the a/c condenser is not properly protected the number for this report is ac002-06. however, toyota has redesigned the corolla to corrected it in 2007 but did not do anything for the 2005 and 2006 year models. living in the southern united states where summer temperatures reach 120 degrees this a health hazard due to extremem heat.

Car was running with the shift in the park position for approximately 5 or 6 minutes. suddenly it starting rolling fast in reverse. i was standing next to the car on the phone and when it started to roll didnt realize how fast it was moving so i tried to jump in to stop it. i was unable to make it in to the car, fell and rolled underneath it and the front tire ran over the right side of my body. the car continued to move fast until it came to a hill where it then turned around in to the forward position (not in reverse) and started moving very slowly until it hit a tree and stopped. i sustained a crush injury to my right side, fracturing all of my ribs in multiple places (flail chest). was taken to a level 1 trauma hospital and admitted in to intensive care. spent a number of weeks in the hospital and a 6 month recovery at home. still have open fractures. when the car was checked by the police it was still in park with the ignition in the running position although the car was not running. something went seriously wrong with the transmission that day.

2005 toyota corolla driver side window shattered. my neighbour witnessed the entire event he said he heard a loud explosion and saw that the window had exploded. i am very concerned about the safety of my toyota, thank god i wasn't in the car driving, it could have lead to a massive accident or serious physical harm from the glass to myself.

Air float sensor or ecm problem: in may 2010, while i was driving home after work, the check engine light came up, and within a few minute, the car slowed down to a stop even i press on the gas paddle. i turned the car off for several minutes and tried starting it again, and the car started again and check engine was off. however, after several minutes of driving, the check engine light came up again and the car slowed down within a few minute to a complete stop. this happened four times before i got home that day. i called my mechanic the next day to come to inspect my car. after the diagnose, the mechanic replaced the air float sensor and the air filter. after that, my car worked again. however, i had the exact same problem a few months later. i had to replace the air float sensor again. two or three weeks after the second replacement, the check engine light came up again. i brought it to the auto shop, and the mechanic found problem with the engine control module (ecm) and replaced the original ecm with an used ecm. the security light came up after the ecm was replaced. according the mechanic, the security light came up because the used ecm doesn't have the security feature that the original ecm has. after that, the engine light didn't come up again til about two weeks ago (feb. 2011). around the same time, i received an ecm safety recall notice from toyota. i contacted the local toyota dealer and had the ecm replaced on feb. 19, hoping that it will fix the security light and check engine light problem. however, both the security light and the check engine light remained on after the replacement through the recall. the toyota dealer said the lights has nothing to do with the recall and refused to deal with the security light and check engine light issue unless i'm paying them to do a diagnose. i called the toyota customer experience center and they said the same thing.

On 11/9/2010 at 5:30 p.m., my 2005 toyota corolla ce stalled on i-87 (ny state thruway--major deegan) in the bronx as it was being driven at 55 miles per hour. the car was operating normally when i left work in the bronx 20 min before. all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the car lost all power. the oil and battery lights also came on. i put on my hazards and managed to get from left lane to shoulder. the car stopped completely before i could get it off the highway and the back end of car was slightly on the road. i called aaa and they called the official company who has to tow cars off the thruway. no truck arrived for a long time--two passers by stopped and helped me push car onto shoulder. the car lights dimmed and eventually went out. the car had plenty of fuel when it was being driven. after the car stopped, the car seemed electrically dead and would not turn over at all. there was no sound at all or any cranking or sputtering. it seemed that the car lost all power and i was only able to get it off the road due to its momentum from being in motion. when no truck arrived after 45 minutes, i called 311 for assistance (nyc help line) and they contacted police who came and called another truck and sat with me with their lights on until tow truck arrived around 6:50 pm. it was towed to official towing station in bronx. the repair people told me the next day it might be due to an electrical problem. my car is under recall for the engine control module (ecm). the toyota dealers in bronx said cars don't stall because of this problem and i would have to pay to have my car towed there to have it checked. i wanted them to look at it to see if ecm was the problem. on 11/11, when i called the official towing station to have car towed out, they said it was fuel pump and wanted 1100-1200$ to fix it. as of today, i am having the car towed to a local repair station where i leave to see if they can diagnose the problem and let me know what caused the stall.

I noticed an odd disruption in normal transmission function on my 2005 toyota corrolla. i suspected it was due to a defective engine component . i went to the local toyota dealership and was told that the engine control module needed to be replaced ;that the car would stop running without replacing it. on inquiry i was told that there is a problem with this component on 2005 toyota corrolla's. the dealership refused to replace the component. i called the toyota corporate office on june 8,2010 (1-800-331-4331) call refernce number: 1006081641 it became apparent that toyota knows there is a problem with defective engine control module's in 2005 toyota corrolla's. if the phone call is pulled by the national highway safety traffic administration a wider problem with defective engine control modules may become evident. i identified the problem as a safety issue when i called the toyota corporate office.

My 2005 toyota corolla ce has been randomly stalling on me when i turn, when im at red lights, when im accelerating and when im slowing down with no rhyme or reason. it just started one day and continues to do at random times and with random frequency. i do not feel safe when this happens and there is no way to determine when my gas pedal will quit working, no noise to let me know it is about to or has happened, no overheating of the engine, no spikes in the rpms or anything, it just does it. i was almost in an accident the other night at 11pm when i was at a red light and went to accelerate and there was no response, the person behind me almost rear-ended me because of this. i was able to take it to a mechanic who said the computer was reading it was a fuel actuator issue. they advised me to contact toyota since that is the same failure that is being recalled on all the other vehicles. i have made several attempts to contact toyota which havent resolved anything yet, so my car is still stalling and nothing has been done to resolve it as of yet.

My car was not accelerating correctly. the car wouldn't accelerate smoothly, it took time to accelerate and then it would buck forward. the check engine light came on several days later. i check to make sure the fuel cap was on correctly and could find no other reason the engine light was on. i contacted the dealership i purchased the car from and they told me it was not a safety issue, but there was a technical service bulletin for my car's engine computer and it was replaced free of charge. every once in awhile i feel like the tires stick like the car is having trouble accelerating, but so far the engine light has gone back on. i will contact the dealership should the problem get worse.

While crossing large intersection @ 15-20 mph car lost power and tried to stall, after a few seconds it cleared up, approx. 5 min. latter while stopped at a red lght, engine rpm dropped from idle ( 1000rpm) to 450 rpm with engine fluttering trying to stall, this lasted about 7-10 seconds then suddenly cleared up. did not take car totoyota as yet, trying to get more info from toyota about problem.

2003 - engine stalled; taken to dealership and indicated was computer. computer was replaced due to being under warranty. 03/17/10 - coming home from work and within 1/4 to 1/2 mile of getting onto highway car stalls, check engine light comes on and would not excellerate above 25 miles per hour. eventually engine stopped totally. towed to nearest facility and upon running diagnostics assessed that it was the computer again. attempting to resolve this w/ toyota as this is a second failure on the computer. no resolution to date.

Car stalled in the middle of hwy in 2009. no warning lights came on. after diagnoses mechanic provided me a technical bulletin that i have a bad ecm. took to toyota and toyota denied the claim and made me replace a fuel pump instead. once the fuel pump was replaced the cars still wouldn't run. another diagnostic indicated it was the ecm, which was covered under warranty. nothing was wrong with the fuel pump. toyota did not want to recognize a long standing problem with ecms. 3 mechanics indicated it was the ecm.
