Owner was driving with snow on the road and hit a slick spot that had ice. the vehicle started sliding sideways out of control off the highway. the car continued off the road, into a ditch, and hit a tree. the entire front end of the car was damaged; the hood was smashed, grill fell off, part of front bumper detached, headlight out of place. we were traveling around 50 mph when we ran off the highway. neither of the front air bags deployed. it was a front end impact and we were traveling fast enough that the air bags should have deployed. this has to be a defect of the air bags. *tr

Granddaughter driving on county road evidently inattentive had to quickly stop because car in front of her stopped for red light.there had just been a short rain and road oils were present. her car slide into the rear bumper of the suv in front of her. i assume that the quick breaking caused the toyota to nose dive under the rear bumper of the suv. the read bumper of the suv suffered only slight movement and small abrasion mark. the toyota has serious damage - crumpled hood and destroyed headlight and required towing..the airbags did not deploy. she was unharmed. perhaps this is an incident when the airbag should have deployed. i have heard of very minor collisions causing deployment.

My 2006 toyota corolla's airbags did not deploy when i had a head on collision. the entire front of my vehicle was smashed to a pulp, and my airbags didn't even flinch. i tried to find out if this was a manufacturer defect or if there was a recall on this so to have it fixed, but have not been able to find anything on this. *tr

In march 2008, i was the 3rd car in a four car accident. when i was hit from the rear, i was pushed, extremely hard into the car in front of me. i lost conscientiousness when i hit the steering wheel. my air bags never deployed, nor did my seat belt lock up in order for me to avoid an injury. should toyota be recalling their 2006 corollas for re-check and repair. also, i understand the 2006 toyota was recalled in 2007 for exterior lighting issues, i was never notified. *tr

Last year we purchased a 2006 toyota corolla. we added side air bags. we wanted a safe vehicle for our daughter to drive. two days ago she was driving a friend to work. a car was parked on the right side of the road. it pulled out to a make a u-turn right in front of her. she avoided a straight on t-bone of the car by braking and swerving to the right. the left front of her car hit the drivers door and side of the other car. she was traveling at 50 mph. the airbags did not deploy. the passenger in her car hit his head on the dashboard- his seatbelt did not tighten and lock in. he suffered a concussion. both my daughter and passenger suffered body aches and bruising from the collision. at this time the car is at a body shop for estimates on the damage. we will have it also go to the toyota dealer to determine why the airbags and seatbelt failed to work. we purchased this vehicle specifically for its safety features and are quite dismayed that they failed. we have no confidence in this vehicle now. *tr

My 2006 toyota corolla s was rear ended on the right half of the rear bumper on hwy 85, then propelled into a concrete barrier creating left front damage. the trunk was crumpled including the right rear roof support. the crash to the front broke a large piece out f the left wheel and flattened the tire. the seat belt held me, but i suffered two severe whiplashes and still under treatment for injuries. the car has been repaired at a cost of $9,300. i don't understand why the airbag didn't deploy. the toyota agency said it was because the collision didn't happen in the middle of the front bumper. it is my understanding that airbags are suppose to protect you. is there an issue with toyota airbags? *tr

Was driving down an decline in the road and was applying the brake gently due to stop light at the oncoming intersection, which i saw that was red, but it changed to green and i reapplied the gas at this time. then , i heard a great loud noise and this thing was in my face, and i could not see . i knew that i needed to get the car off the road, but i was fighting the airbag to see the road and to prevent me from hitting a car in front, i used my right hand to fight the airbag and my left to steer the car. at this point i was thinking i had passed the intersection which had a small area for flowers or signs, had a 4-6 curb, but when i turned the wheel toward the right to get off the road i ran upon the median( across the curb which was 4-6 inches in height, and this damaged the tire rims . they were bend and damaged the tires , all four went flat. i still managed to get the car to safety without any real injury to myself. i am still in daze with this freak occurrence. i have never experience d anything like this. i would like to hear from others., but mainly i would like to know what caused this. the car had been hit in the rear approximately 6 months prior, in which the whole trunk area and back had to be replaced. could this have been a factor? i really need answers. keep it mind, i have driven this road for 40 years without an accident. i can't understand this with a new car and new tires.*ak
