Last week, as i was driving on a paved road, i heard that maybe i hit a small rock, however, i did not see any rocks on the road. the next day, my ac stopped working. i found a posting on the internet that the a/c condensers on 2005/2006 corollas are not protected and there was a technical service bulletin issued by toyota- number ac002-06. toyota has redesigned the corolla to correct this problem in 2007 leaving 2005-2006 customers in the dust. i spoke with the toyota dealer in chantilly on 8/17/12, and he said that the technical bulletin was issued only for toyota mechanics' use, and that my car was no longer under warranty, even though i only have 35,000 miles on the car. he also wanted to charge me with $130 to diagnose the problem. i went to my personal mechanic instead, and he replaced the a/c condenser, charging me $556 for his service. he also said there was no way to protect this condenser so this does not happen in the future. the vehicle has very few miles, and toyota is aware of the problem. i request that a recall be issued so this problem is corrected and other customers like me do not have to pay for the temporary repair of the improper design. thank you. *tr

My 2006 toyota corolla was on a recall list for the ecm. i was watching the car's behavior closely for warning signs/ problems related to the ecm. surprisingly instead of problems starting, harsh shifting or stopping while driving (all listed as possible symptoms of ecm issues)- the opposite problem occurred. my car tried to accelerate when stopped! when fully stopped at traffic lights/stop signs, with my foot on the brake pedal, all of a sudden, my car engine revved and the car tried to accelerate.i quickly pushed down even harder on the brake pedal to stay stopped and not crash into the car in front of me or go the intersection. other instances occurred when parking after a short drive doing errands. again, the engine revved up and attempted to accelerate while stopped, preparing to put the car into park... and once again i had to hold it with the brake.thesebehaviors happened so frequently that i finally resorted to putting the car in neutral to be safe when i was stopped. i also remembered from news reports that car mats could possibly shift and interfere with pedals so i had removed my mats(original mats attached to hooks) to ensure they could not be an issue although it seemed obvious they had never moved off their hooks towards the pedals. i called customer service at toyota corporate to seek their advice and fully described the problem as i have here.they said toyota mechanics would have to get the car to replicate the problem in order to fix it. i assured them it was really happening, but it was not predictable. soon after this,my local toyota dealership called to let me know that there was an opening for me to come in and have my car looked at since they had been made aware that i was having a problem with my brakes ! i let them know that my brakes were not the problem but was with acceleration when i was stopped with my foot on the brake.

The a/c blows cool air not cold for about 20 minutes and stops blowing cool. you can turn the a/c off for a few minutes and then turn it back on and the air blows cool again for a few minuets then goes back to warm. i've noticed a slight smell (not bad) coming thru the vents sometimes and when i have the ac on, it seems to fluctuate between cool (never cold) and lukewarm. i also feel like i have to have it on the 2nd setting to feel air moving.

Air condition - the air condition stopped working. it is very difficult to travel in summer without air conditioner working in the car. toyota has issued a technical service bulletin indicating that the a/c condenser is not properly protected; the number for this report is ac002-06. it costs $300 to repair the a/c condenser and $300 in labor for a total of $600. appreciate, if toyota can recall the vehicle and fix the air conditioner problem.

On august 6, 2008, i was driving down hwy 61 to clarksdale, ms when my accelerator stuck; i tried using the brakes, but it was too late and i hit a large animal and lost control of my car. my car flipped over and turned on it's side and then landed back down. i couldn't believe what happened and i was scraped up and shaken up really bad. this could have been a terrible tragedy, but i survived this crash with only minor scrapes and bruises. i didn't call the police because the car was driveable and the accelerator wasn't sticking anymore. the same week i took the car to a toyoto dealer to check out the accelerator, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. my car received over $1,300.00 worth of damages as a result of the crash.

Prior to january 1, 2010 started hearing squealing noise coming from engine. at regular maintenance intervals brought to the attention of service departments and was told this was not unusual due to moisture build up on belts. accepted explanation at toyota dealerships. noise continued to get worse so took in again on january 17, 2010 - mileage @ 50,496. tensioner assy. was replaced (not under warranty) @ a cost of $368.18. a couple of days later the same noise returned. continued to bring to the attention of service department at regular maintenance interval 3/27/10-mileage @53,192 and they could not duplicate the noise i was hearing. noise continued and got worse - took back to dealership on 8/16/10-mileage @58,411, again they could not duplicate the noise? noise continued every day - all the time. took back to dealership on 11/26/10 - mileage @61,521. they replaced tensioner assembly @ no cost and was told my timing chain tensioner was leaking oil ?and the belt tensioner was leaking too? what the hell? service manager suggested i call 1-800-331-4331 to file a complain, i did so on 11/29. case #1011291376. i was told the tensioner assembly (3 year/36,000miles) was not under warranty at the initial repair and the timing chain repair is not under warranty either (5 year/60,000 mile) which will cost me $173.00. my point here is that taking into consideration all the recalls for toyota vehicles -- toyota can't possibly hold the consumer to the warranties they have in place. it is apparent to me that the parts are defective and i don't feel i should have to pay anything for these repairs. as of today, i am still hearing the same noise when i crank my car from the tensioner assembly just replaced on 11/26. toyota should reimburse me for all the defective parts/labor/and my personal time/mileage to get this repair done and the repair to the timing chain should be at no cost to me. there should be a recall on this too.

I had my foot on the brake turning into my drive when suddenly the car accelerated and ran into the apartment building wall. i pushed harder on the brake but it would not stop and was still accelerating after running thru the wall . the police report said it slung dirt from the front tires, 24 feet.

April 2010 - tachometer started 'jumping' around. cel would illuminate on and off and the car would occasionally act like it wanted to stall and acted sluggish. june 2010 - brought to local shop that said it might be a computer issue and to take to toyota. took to toyota, toyota said that it was just a bad tachometer and that i could choose to replace it. i did not. cel light continued to go on and off. vehicle would sometimes shift very hard or seem to have trouble. september 2010 - the vehicle almost stalled at 45mph when it seemed like it was trying to switch gears (auto transmission). when going highway speeds the rpms would not get over 1800 when normally it runs around 2300 (at 65mph) when i would step on brake, rpms would drop to around 1000 and then to the point of stalling. sometimes i have to drive with the left foot on the brake and the right foot on the accelerator to not have it stall in stop and go traffic. sometimes at a light, i put it in neutral and continue to rev the engine. some days the vehicle seems to be running fine, other times it is very stressful to drive when it is having issues. october 2010 - received recall letter from toyota regarding the ecm (engine control module) and that parts will start to be come available the end of november. called toyota corporate and they said they did not currently have a fix for the problem. continue to drive this vehicle because it is my only means of transportation.

While pulling into parking space, experienced sudden accleration, while foot on brake . unable to stop car, it jumped the curb and hit a tree. the tree stopped the car, however the wheels must have kept going, as there was dirt torn up and spewed behind the tires. air bag did not deploy. toyota notified. car towed to dealer. toyota investigation pending, which according to toyota may take up to 2 months. toyota said this 2006 corolla was not on 'recall' list. they also said they will investigate but do not expect to find it to be their fault, as they said they have never found themselves to be 'at fault' when the car was not on the 'recall list'.

We bought a 2006 certified corolla le on june 19, 2010 from a dealership in northern virginia. on august 18, 2010 my daughter was driving the car and while at at stop light earlier that day her car hesitated and didn't want to move. that evening around 8:30 pm as she was driving her car, the road curved slightly to the right but she was not able to turn the wheel or depress the brakes. she crossed the on coming lane and the car was totaled. she was able to walk away from this with only hundreds of small cuts from glass. the initial thought was that she had hydroplaned but after further talking to my daughter she said that she tried to turn the steering wheel to follow the road but she couldn't because it was too hard and the brakes would not depress either. i had my mechanic go to the yard where the car was stored and read the computer and this is what he found: check engine light find p0430 evap system pressure sensor high input and in the history he found 2 codes: the same p0430 and b2799 engine immobilizer system fault. so as it seems now the car did shut off and she was not able to control the steering or brakes due to not having power. i have read that this is not the first report of this happening. something should be done before someone gets hurt really bad or there is a fatal accident. i would like to know if being a certified car, should this have been detected before the car was sold? also, is the computer read before the car is sold to see if there has been or is a problem? if it is not read, then maybe it should be a new policy for the dealerships.

While driving my 2006 toyota corolla s (sport) at around 60 mph, the engine lost power without warning and began rapidly decreasing traveling speed to 10-15 miles mph. then, the check engine light came on. i attempted to apply gas to correct the problem, but the car continued declining in speed. after pulling over to the side of the road, i turned the car off, and then restarted the vehicle. the car started and began operation as if nothing had occurred. i had the car checked at an auto parts store, and was instructed to take it to the nearest dealership. i researched the issue online and found a preponderance of complaints with the exact experience to mine from owners of (2005-2007). outraged owners expressed that it was common knowledge among dealers that there was engine computer issue, and a subsequent technical service bulletin was issued without notifying owners of this matter. i relayed this information to the toyota of easley dealership. the service manager gave me a lot of pushback on the matter, said i was 4,000 miles over their free replacement period (8 yrs/80,000 miles). i responded that the mileage wasn't the cause it is commonly known to be defective. finally, after speaking my call to the toyota helpline and his district manager, the parts manager agreed to cut the fee 50% from $724 to $352. at this point, they charged me $85 just to look at the car so i had no other recourse but to pay to have them fix this since the car was beginning to lose engine power in this manner every 10 to 15 miles. upon leaving toyota of easley and returning to my apartment, i called a few other dealerships that i had patronized previously. the response that i received from another dealership was bring the car in immediately. this is a common problem with the 2006 corollas, and even if we can't do this for you for free, toyota should be able to refund you for this matter because its so commonplace.

With no warning, car stalled in middle of road, restarted moments later with no power, not revving over 2000 rpms. 15- 20 min later will run for short time, 3- 10 miles, but then stalls again. the engine gives no warning it's about to stall. leading up to this series of events was no warning at all. scanned obdii code p0607 came up.

On april 23,2010, our 2006 toyota corolla shut itself off without warning while we were driving. we only had a few seconds to pull off the road before it coasted to a stop. the car was doing fine before this incident, and we had no idea anything was wrong. on april 27, the engine computer was replaced at a toyota dealer. the parts salesman and the service receptionist told me that the computers chronically fail in these cars and they keep all possible types in stock to replace them.

I was driving my mom's 2006 toyota corolla ce tonight. i was stopped at a red light waiting to turn left. the light turned green, i pressed the gas pedal and the car stalled and it would barely move at all and the check engine light came on. i was thankfully able to get off to the shoulder of the road without being in an accident. after i got to the shoulder off the road the car sounded like it was about to quit running and just die out. i turned the car off and restarted it. the check engine light was still on and i was terrified about having to drivethe car home, about 2 miles from my destination at that time, but i tried it and when i pushed the gas pedal, after i restarted the car, it done okay and did not stall. however, the check engine light never went out even after restarting the care. this is a big safetly risk and needs to be fixed by toyota. someone could have hit me in the back end and it is definately a safety hazard and needs to be resolved! i was very upset when this happened not sure what i was going to do. please investigate this issue. i no longer feel safe driving any toyota product. again, i was driving my mom's 2006 toyota corolla ce. i am the owner of a 2007 scion tc and i am thinking about trading it off because i no longer feel safe driving anything made by toyota. before today, i wasn't really worried about driving my mom's car since none of the incidents where the vehicle speeds up and you can't stop it affected her model but after this incident today, i will not be driving her car at all. i feel like my life is at danger when in a toyota. please help protect my safety and families around america. toyota needs to make a recall regarding this because it is a safety risk!!!! despite what toyota says. they haven't been in the situation thiemselves. it is absolutely no fun. if they can't fix the problems, they need to just shut down. people's lives are at risk.
