On september 26, 2007, toyota filed a defect information report and notified nhtsa that some of its model year (my) 2007 and 2008 lexus e350 and toyota camry vehicles could experience unintended and uncontrolled acceleration due to interference between the optional all weather floor mat offered on those vehicles and the vehicles' accelerator pedal.this decision was influenced by an office of defects investigation (odi) engineering analysis.this recall was designated 07e082.two years later, on october 5, 2009, toyota filed a defect information report and notified nhtsa that a number of its my 2004-2009 lexus and toyota vehicles may also experience unintended and uncontrolled acceleration due to interference between the accelerator pedal and the driver's floor mat.this recall was designated 09v388.several months later, on january 27, 2010, toyota filed an amended, or supplemental, defect information report and expanded the population of vehicles to include additional my 2008-2010 toyota and lexus vehicles.since this expansiontook place in a different calendar year, this recall was designated 10v023.separately on january 21, 2010, toyota filed a defect information report and notified nhtsa that certain toyota vehicles and certain pontiac vibe vehicles contained a safety defect in the accelerator pedal assembly that may cause the accelerator pedal to become harder to depress, slower to return, or in the worse case, mechanically stuck in a partially depressed position.nhtsa designated this recall 10v017.in total, the four recalls cover over 7.6 million toyota and lexus vehicles as well as the pontiac vibe product made by new united motor manufacturing, inc., a venture of toyota and general motors corporation.nhtsa requires additional information from toyota to more fully understand and evaluate, among other things, whether the scope of the recalls identified above (makes, models and model years) is sufficiently broad.the agency is seeking to determine whether toyota viewed the underlying defects too narrowly as interference between the accelerator pedal and the driver

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 toyota corolla. she stated that while attempting to drive the vehicle, there was an unusual noise causing her to turn the vehicle off and restart it again . whenever she applied the brakes mainly in wet conditions the vehicle did not stop completely. the engine light illuminated and she had the vehicle towed to the dealer who advise that the sensor light from the gasoline tank was on causing the engine light to illuminate. there were no repairs done. the vehicle had not been diagnosed for the failure of the brakes or the noise. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure and current mileages were 18,393.

After toyota recalled and worked on my gas pedal, it got stuck once, which literally caused me to bump slightly into a car in front of me) then escalated on its own sporadically. one dealer agent told me would submit paperwork and it would take an hour to check, and the gas pedal would be replaced. when i tried to bring the car to be checked and worked on, he said not come till he called when he was ready. for 1-2 weeks he never called. when i went to ask, they said the car was not to be worked on for a while. i called customer service to change to another dealership. this dealership asked me to wait for 2 weeks, and said would need to keep my car for two weeks to check. i called twice but no one called back. i finally went to a dealership where i happened to be near where i worked one day. they checked to make sure my car was okay at least then. i asked them help me put my carpet in place as after detailing the first dealership did not put them back in order as they were wet. this dealership put hook on my carpet to make sure they were in place as i did not have the hook as they were supposed to be, and advised me to call customer service, not knowing i have already called and they were referring me to dealership that took forever. i was by another dealership where i worked the next day. they checked, and ordered the gas pedal immediately. in just 2-3 days they told me they had the part and had me over and got my car fixed. the carpet in the driver seat is fixed, but not the others yet. the gas pedal of my car was a risk to the safety of me and my car and other people and cars around me. the delay of the first two dealerships and customer service seem to not care for the urgent need for the pedal to be replaced immediately to ensure absolute safety. the latter two dealership were helpful to spot the problem of my carpet and took preventive measure immediately, and then got the gas pedal replaced immediately. should take care of problem better.

This is a follow up to a previous complaint. i felt compelled to do so after reading other issues people were having with there toyota corollas (s). i purchased this car june 1st 2009. three weeks after purchase i noticed something was wrong with the paint. i took it to the dealers, the service dept manager looked at it and said it was due to the environment, the sales guy told me it was due to tree sap and the third time i took it the sales manager said it was from bird crap ( it's garaged most of the time). weeks later i was hit by a concrete truck, at first thought it was the trucks fault but not real sure now because of the difficult steering with this car. at the time of the accident there was no air bag deployment. i had the car repaired by a private shop, they couldn't understand why the airbag did not deploy. while my car was there they looked at the paint. i have a black car with large white spots and was told there was a problem with the clear coat and it would cost around 4,000 to fix it. i again went to the dealership and was told this time that's what happens when you buy a black car. i have filed a complaint with toyota and we all know where that has got me. i filed a complaint with the consumer complaint agency and toyota failed to respond. boy, for a reliable care the only thing i can rely on is poor quality and a death trap. i have a dodge and will drive it before this death trap. good luck trying to do a lane change and looking into the blind spots. i have almost hit cars on my right while attempting to do a lane change more times than i can count. *tr

When the car is turned on, it has a foul order, particularly in summer, when the windows have been rolled up. it seems to be coming from the ventilation system. we do not use the recirculation button, as the fresh air seems like a better idea since the ventilation system already smells foul. the smell makes my upsets my stomach. we have tried replacing the cabin filter, and that did not help. we have also used products like febreeze all over the car, but that is only a temporary help.

I was going to turn into a parking spot in the work parking garage. as i moved my foot from the gas pedal to the brake, my foot knocked the floor mat causing it to jam under the gas pedal. this caused the car to accelerate into a concrete pole despite both of my feet being on the brake. i had the recall fix done to my car to insert the plastic pieces to hold the mat in place properly and was assured by the dealership that this would never be a problem; however, they were small pieces of plastic and the mat was completly disattached from both of them. the car continued to attempt to accelerate after it was stuck on the barrier until i was able to pull the floor mat out from under the accelerator. the pieces were only inserted into the carpet and not the floor boards, and the responding officer said they pulled out really easily. he was also concerned that the airbag in the car didn't deploy in this situation due to the acceleration and amount of front end damage to the car and suggested something might also be wrong with it.

We purchased a 2009 toyota corolla last spring from coleman's toyota in rockville, md. in august, we had a frightening experience. the temporary driver's floor pad became loose and crept over the accelerator, making it necessary to stop the car and remove the pad. at that time, we had not heard or seen any news about a recall, but were told by our coleman's salesman that we would have to pay $200 for front seat floor pads that would be clipped on the floor. he said toyota did not consider attachable floor pads standard equipment in the price of a car. he finally sold me attachable pads for $40 on sept. 18, 2009. we have not had a problem since then, but we wonder why nhtsa would allow a car dealer to sell any car without firmly placed floor pads are part of the sticker price. it is now feb. 12, 2010, and we have not received any recall notice for the accelerator problem. my wife is frightened to use the car on any major highway. *tr
