Defect SummaryToyota is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 highlander, model year 2009-2010 corolla, venza and matrix passenger vehicles. the accelerator pedal can get stuck in the wide open position due to its being trapped by an unsecured or incompatible driver's floor mat. this recall is an expansion of a campaign of 3.8 million other toyota vehicles announced in 2009 for the same issue (see 09v-388).
Consequence SummaryA stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.
Corrective SummaryToyota will modify or replace the accelerator pedals on the subject vehicles. floor surface modifications are also being considered and will be included for any model for which it is deemed appropriate. initially, dealers will be instructed on how to reshape the accelerator pedal for the repair. as replacement parts with the same shape as the modified pedal become available, they will be made available to the dealers for the repair. customers who have had the pedal reshape remedy completed will have the opportunity to receive a new pedal if they desire, after replacement pedals become available. in addition, toyota will replace any toyota all-weather floor mat in a subject vehicle with a newly designed mat, free of charge. for those customers who have the previous design all-weather floor mat but do not need or want the newly designed all-weather floor mat, toyota will recover the previous design all-weather floor mat and reimburse its price. the safety recall began march 16, 2010. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
NotesToyota recall no. 9lg/90l.owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov .

Defect SummaryToyota is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 avalon, model year 2007-2010 camry, model year 2009-2010 corolla, corolla matrix, rav4, model year 2010 highlander, model year 2008-2010 sequoia, and model year 2007-2010 tundra vehicles. due to the manner in which the friction lever interacts with the sliding surface of the accelerator pedal inside the pedal sensor assembly, the sliding surface of the lever may become smooth during vehicle operation. in this condition, if condensation occurs on the surface, as may occur from heater operation (without a/c) when the pedal assembly is cold, the friction when the accelerator pedal is operated may increase, which may result in the accelerator pedal becoming harder to depress, slower to return, or, in the worst case, mechanically stuck in a partially depressed position.
Consequence SummaryThe accelerator pedal may become hard to depress, slow to return to idle, or, in the worst case, mechanically stuck in a partially depressed position, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will install a reinforcement bar in the accelerator pedal which will allow the pedal to operate smoothly. gm will notify owners for the pontiac vibe please see 10v-018. this service will be performed free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin early february and will be completed in late april 2010. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

I am driving my car going approx. 45 - 55miles a hour when suddenly the check engine light comes on. when this occurs the car gradually begins to slow down and will not allow me to accelerate. i can press the pedal down but the car does not read that i am pressing the pedal. stability control light begins to blink and car gradually comes to a full stop. when i pull over the rpms are revving above 1 rpm but i am not pressing the gas. this has been going on and the dealer simply told one time i needed a new battery. i bought it from them. they said your alternator is bad and i replaced it and check engine and stability light come on again. i shouldn't have so many problem with a car that was bought brand new and is not even 2yrs old. *tr

This vehicle uses a drive by wire (dwb) accelerator. when you press on the gas the car lurches forward. this happened on a rental car in 2010 and still is a problem on the used toyota i purchased. when i contacted toyota they stated there was no recall information. they asked me to have the vehicle diagonized at my expense, which i refused to do. this is a problem and based on information on the net others are having the same problem. i have owned many cars and not one has had such a touchy pedal. *tr

While driving my corolla, even i do not hit the gas pedal, the rpm stays around 2000 and sometimes it started to stuck around 3000 rpm for 15 to 30 seconds than goes to normal. i had difficulty to slow down in busy traffic, because even i hit the breaks it does not cut the gas so the engine still tries to run and the car still tends to go, so i am not able to slow down or it takes time to slow down. i am driving my toyota in the 5th gear and around 3000 rpm. when i need a sudden stop, i let go the gas pedal and hit the break. the etcs commands high idle even i hit the breaks; the pistons are still working (the engine is still running in gear) with 3000 rpm so i am not able to slow down or stop. this is a serious safety problem. how come ecm would command for high idle from time to time? how can i stop the car or slow down in need while ecm is commanding high idle? it is impossible to have a proper control on the car when ecm commands high idle. who can give me guarantee that it would not get stuck in higher idles? (because it used to stuck around 2000 rpm and right now it also started sticking around 3000 rpm). when i get close to a curb or to an exit i stop hitting the gas pedal assuming the car will get slow but since it stucks at high rpm,s the car does not get slower when it is in the gear.

My sister was driving when she was about to park the car in a parking lot when the accelerator got stuck and she was not able to step on the brake pedal when it crash a tube. which she procede to report to the insurance agancy and did the report and call the police, but police said had to call the isurance. this was the first time that this had happen when using the car. then i took the car to a toyota agency to have the car be fix by this factory default. which they told me were only going to fix the factory issue with the pedal but wouldnt fix the front bumber damage that the car presents because of the crash. i didn't agree in that since this was the car factory defect which led to the crash and the angency had to be responsible for the damage of the car and all that involves. which i contact directly toyota and they only told me to access this website to do the complaint online.

I bought a toyota corolla 2010 le on 04/03/2010, and when i drove it on the freeway first time, i was shocked/scared the way was stirring/handling. i almost had two accidents with it because of the stirring issue. when i drove it on the freeway i saw that the car is loosing balance (the back car shakes), i found stability problems (as if i drive in strong winds), and big steering problems (as i learn to drive a tricky bicycle). to get and maintain an almost control on the car direction i have to focus my actions as my corolla has only two wheels like a bike. i almost act as an equilibrate for a rope dancing. the experience of driving my corolla showed that i have limited control over it, and most control i lost when i had to use sudden brakes at high speed - it was like on the ice. back jumps and i stir in same direction; back jumps again in the other direction and i change the steering in the other direction too, and so on. these events occur almost every time i drove with speed around 60 miles/hour on the freeways that are not straight. the consequence is that i am afraid to drive my new car because i am not able to control it, and i risk an accident. i went to toyota dealer, they said that they know the situation from other costumers too, but nothing they can do about it. please investigate this issues until is not too late, and people make accidents and injure. thank you. *tr

I have 2010 toyota corolla (vin# [xxx] ) purchased on oct 31 2009 from sansoneautomall, nj. there is a problem with the steering column initially which started with some unique sound, then from feb 2010 i was seriously facing steering freeze (will get harden) only 15-20% of steering moves when in 0' speed, for this i have visited my dealer service center 3 times but there is no use. only with lot of disappointment and arguments saying what is the reason to buy a brand new car to get problems i was requesting to solve my problem. they simply said, there is nothing we can do if you have no other mean to commute its upto you and if you want you call toyota head quarters for this. i even spent lot of time in calling main toyota nr but simply i get voice message that there is huge volume of call waiting please wait. i really wonder when i/anyone buy a car from dealer and if they cannot receive me assist me properly where from i get the justice????. recently i found two more new problems they are: in a slope road car picks-up acceleration and maintains speed as if it is cruised and once i apply break after a while the speed comes to normal position other prob- fuel indicator stuck up to full level indi' even the fuel is low. with this i'm day by day getting depressed as i spent quite lot of savings (money) on the car to avoid any hassles buying a used car, but unfortunately its a disaster to me. i request to provide me needed solution to fix my depressing situation. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Approximately one week ago, my 2010 corolla surged forward approximately 6-8 feet after i placed in park in my work parking lot. the tachometer went to above 2000 rpms, and the cars speed went over 20 mph before i was able to jam on the emergency brake. my foot was not on the brake or the gas pedal. i almost hit a tree. my head was thrust backwards. three hours later the paramedics had to come to my office and rush me to the hospital as i had a tia as a result. this is the third acceleration incident with my vehicle since february 12th. the dealership has even had a specialist look at my car, and they said nothing is wrong with it. i brought the car back to the dealership today because of the above incident. the general service manager said to me quote unquote we can find nothing wrong with your vehicle, and can not verify your complaint. you have brought the car to us four times for this same acceleration problem and there is nothing wrong with your car. we have not charged you any of these times. if you bring it to us again for the same problem, we are going to have to bill you for our time. they also charged me for the rental car today. he also stated that the media is blowing this way out of proportion, and that there is nothing wrong with any of the toyota vehicles. he said the problem is one of two things. i asked him what those two things were. he stated that they are the drivers are bad drivers and the other is it is fraud. so i said are you implying i am a lier or a bad driver and he refused to answer. i then said i am neither of the two and that i resented the implication to both. i told him my car is a death mobile and unsafe to drive, and also that i had been hurt 3 or 4 times already.

2010 toyota corolla accelerator was stuck at 40 miles per hour. just missed hitting another car on the entrance ramp in front of me. this car was supposedly fixed by westbury toyota in westbury, ny on february 9th. the car was brought back to the dealer today, march, 10,2010. where the dealer told me that owners are making this whole problem up, and tried to charge me $100,00 for an electronic diagnostics test on the car. he also refused to give me a loaner car or rental car at toyota's cost while they checked the car out for a sticking accelerator pedal problem because the recall fix was already done on this vehicle. obviously the fix did not work at all. i am afraid to drive this vehicle because it could happen again with fatal results. *tr

I have a 2010 toyota corolla that is part of the accelerator pedal reinforcement bar recall/installation. i have noticed another problem that appears to also involve the accelerator. this vehicle has a 5 speed manual transmission. the problem occurs in both 3rd and 4th gear. this problem is not consistent meaning it is not always noticed every time i drive, i would maintain that it occurs at least 50% of the time however. problem: i attempt to maintain a constant speed for instance in 3rd gear at 30 mph, the vehicle feels as if it wants to speed up, i then remove some pressure from the accelerator, the vehicle then slow by jerking, i then attempt to accelerate and the vehicle jerks again, bottom line is i can not maintain a constant speed. the road conditions do not matter, flat, hill, bumpy, smooth, wet dry, 30 mph, 31 mph, 32, mph etc. i cannot maintain a constant speed in 3rd and 4th gear. i am not sure of an approximate date, it has happened numerous times since i purchased the vehicle in august of 2009. i will just enter a random date below. *tr

 1. regular driving under normal condition, sometimes for several minutes, sometimes for a few seconds. 2. speed control does not seem to be consistent. rpm meter would go above normal 2000 revs per minute even when the car is in neutral. 3. was repaired by dealer as part of the gas pedal recall. the problem continues. 4. i do not think it has to do with the gas pedal, it appears to be a problem with the throttle control as the rpm meter clearly shows the revs are way higher than normal. in fact, after the gas pedal recall repair, our 4 months car now burns more gas than before. *tr

I drive toyota corolla ls 2010. i was driving to work today approximately with 45m/h. i was getting ready to take an exit from the highway, i saw couple cars were stopped in the middle of the exit approximately meter away from me. i decided to reduce the speed and getback to the highway(to get around them so i can take my exit. i hit my brake slightly to slow down my car did not even change speed, i tried couple times nothing happened. then i decided to step on the brake all the way my car did not change the speed at all it was going at the same speed. my car was traveling straight road for 7-8 seconds, then i had to make a quick decision so i will not hit the cars that was onfront of me(they were stopped in the middle of the road for some reason) because i was getting too close. i decided to get back to highway so i willnot hit anyone. but after i tried to get back to the highway i totally lost my control of the car. the car moved with no control for several seconds then i and up in the middle of the highway. i was lucky everyone was behind me and they stayed away from my car. i just took my car to be fixed from the sticking acceleration problem. i believe my breaks did not worked at that point and my car was moving with the same speed . afterward i was able to move my car and my brakes were working. i am worried to drive that car. i do not feel safe. i could of hurt the lady and her kids that were behind me. *tr

This is the second time i am contacting you regarding a complaint with my 2010 corolla. i first called the nhtsa 800 number with this written complaint and was told i would receive a hard copy in two weeks (i have yet to receive it). so once again i am putting this complaint in writing, so i have proof that it was filed and sent. i hope that something gets done with it once and for all. the complaint is regarding toyota's new pedal recall part. it does not correct the acceleration problem. my car accelerated over 80 mph on feb.12,2010. toyota put in the recall pedal that morning after i brought the car there. on the way home from work on feb 12, the car exhibited more acceleration issues. that was when i called to report it with the nhtsa. the car then accelerated again on feb15 with the newpedal recall in. i was driving up a long onramp onto the interstate at approx. 35-40 mph, and the car took off to over 80 mph. i was injured. i called again to your agency to report this on feb15th. i got the car back from toyota on feb 19th. they said the car was fine. it is normal for corollas to accelerate to 80 mph. that is total bull! the car's pedal started sticking on sunday, february 21. this called more rpm & acceleration problems with the car. also the brakes are going down to the floor. the car has gone thru a 5 way intersections stop light and a stop sign. i have had to use the emergency brake to stop the car. *tr

Purchased my 2010 toyota corolla s in july and it has been recalled 3 times. had accelerator pedal fixed weeks ago. yesterday while brushing snow off car it began to rev and accelerator pedal had depressed itself and stuck. i had to manually pull up the pedal. i use this car for work and drive approx. 2500 miles per month. i transport clients and children. i bought a toyota for safety and resale value! i do not feel safe in this car. i have tried to trade it in and dealers will not take it. it is unsellable and unsafe. i want toyota to take this car and give me my money back. it is a bad product! *tr

While driving a 2010 toyota corolla le the steering wheel unexpectedly jerked away from my control. in addition, the power steering and braking system is making strange sounds, such as hissing, pings and cracks. i took the car to toyota dealership and mechanic stated it is probably the electrical system. he also stated that toyota will probably recall car due to complaints with powersteering. due to the above issues and recent recalls on my car, my wife and i don't feel safe and secure in car. we are scared of dying like other toyota owners have in the past. we would like a full refund of $17, 209.97 from toyota motor sales usa. *tr

I pulled out of a gas station. the car began to accelerate on its own. i stepped on the brake but the car would not stop. i steered back into the gas station and stopped by going into a snow bank. i lost complete control of the car. the car was towed to toyota and i called the 800 number. they told me not to have the car repaired by the local toyota. the car was towed to my house. after repeated phone calls. no one has looked at it since. *tr

Toyota corolla s 2010 [xxx] with extra stabilizer bar kit, purchased 11-30-09 with delivery in 12/09. 1) approximately 1 month after purchase ,the car starting to veer sharply right then left when driving on the highway, it was/is difficult to control requiring a tight grip on the wheel. it feels like strong winds are moving the car but winds are absent and road conditions are normal. this event comes and goes unexpectedly, generally lasts the duration of my commute once started, sometimes occurs with the tire pressure gauge but not always, sometimes occurs after rapid braking. it does not feel like an alignment or balance problem, the car darts from one end of the lane, to the median of the lane on its own. on this date 2-24-10 my local dealership filled the tires, and made a slight change to the left alignment they could not duplicate the problem and stated this could be a matter of personal preferences regarding how i felt the car drove when this occurred. the toyota manager also told me today that they understand there could be a problem but they have no direction on how to repair it. when asked then if he could guarantee my safety and that this would not occur again he stated no, but there was nothing for him to do. no injuries to date. i do not feel toyota is making reasonable efforts to quickly eliminate this problem, acknowledge a problem, and do not wish to resolve this with statements regarding my personal preference for the drive, and since this in their opinion is not reproducible for them it is not a viable problem for them to repair. 2) on approximately 2-11-10 i had to use my brakes in an emergency situation in which my brakes were temporally non-response. i had to downshift the gears, remove my foot totally from the gas pedal ,and maneuvered the car away from the other stopped car. no abs was felt, the brake pedal was depressed fully, this occurred at hwy speeds. no acknowledgement of problem or remedy proposed by toy currently. *tr

I drive a 2010 toyota corolla. there is something wrong with the antilock brake system; especially if i am trying to apply the brake to slow the car and am making a right turn(even slightly turning right). it's like the brakes lock up and the steering gets like a mac truck. this also happens when i go over a bump and/or pothole. it most recently even happened when i was driving down the highway and there was a slight right curve in the road and i wasn't applying the brakes. i took the car into the dealership today and they could find nothing wrong. within an hour of leaving the dealership; it happened twice yet they couldn't duplicate the problem. i have a brand new car and am afraid to drive it. supposedly my car wasn't recalled for the gas pedal because it was made in japan but feel like the gas pedal is sticky at times. i am very upset because i just put all this money out and i have an unsafe vehicle to drive. my daughter and i were going to try and drive across country this summer and now we cannot possibly for we donot feel safe in this car. toyota should have to buy back the vehicles. i believe there is a much bigger problem causing all this that they are not admitting and/or have not found yet. i didn't complain or take the car back right away because i had similar problems with the scion xd and was told there was nothing wrong again and again. this is an ongoing problem. *tr

While driving on the interstate in speeds in excess of 75 miles an hour, my 2010 corolla shakes violently in all conditions. i also have an issue when slowing down where the gas pedal will take longer than what is expected to return to an acceptable area and stop accelerating. this second issue has nearly caused several accidents. i have brought this up to the dealer where i purchased this vehicle some three months ago and was told a solution is not readily available and i will be contacted when one is. both problems have convinced me to carpool to work until a solution is identified. *tr

Our 2010 corolla had a sudden acceleration problem while driving on the highway. the car was put on cruise control and shortly there after, suddenly accelerated to a frightening speed. the brake thankfully worked. we haven't used cruise control since. this was terrifying. the date is an approximation. we reported it to our dealer and they just dismissed it. *tr

Steering and gas throttle problem. sometimes having difficulties steering the vehicle straight and it feels like you 're not in control with the wheel. even sometimes at lower speed. regarding gas throttle there are times that the gas pedal is not responding while you are steeping the gas pedal. it's like driving on a neutral gear. we have not reported the steering problem but we have reported the gas pedal issue twice to the dealer. it so happen that the 2nd complain we did was the time they started doing the recall. gas pedal where change as the recall required.the steering problem is now a newer concern for us. we have experienced the problem with steering before but we just ignore it. because it's been raining in our area during the fast few weeks. we where thinking that the roads are just wet and somewhat it is slippery to drive but even the weather had changed we sometimes experienced the same problem with the steering. last encounter with the steering problem is today(02/20/2010). *tr

On february 15, 2010, i drove my 2010 toyota corolla for a short errand near my home. i stopped at a red light. when the light turned green, i proceeded to make a right turn. to keep the car under control, i gently pressed on the accelerator a little then pressed gently on the brake. when i removed my foot from the brake to return to normal speed, the car immediately accelerated without my touching the accelerator. i pushed hard on the brake and stopped the car. then the car returned to normal operation. all this occurred within 10 minutes of leaving my home. at no time did i go more than 25mph. the pavement was dry. the car has less than 250 miles on the odometer. no, i have not received any letter from toyota about the recall. after the incident, i called their customer service in ca. their response, oops i should have gotten a letter but admitted none was sent. they will contact my dealer. 2 observations about the experience, if my hard braking did not work the car would have kept accelerating, the surge was powerful. also, the engine did not rev, the car just seemed to get a signal to accelerate to a certain speed. yes, the experience was scary and dangerous. before, i was willing to give toyota the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard to see how my gas pedal would get stuck after 240 driven miles. please, do your job. toyota should permanently take back any care experiencing this acceleration. these cars should be permanently off the road. *tr

We have a 2010 toyota corolla. we bought it for our daughter to commute to college. it was purchased in may 2009 from freedom toyota in harrisburg, pa. after questioning her about any problems with the gas pedal, she said the 'stuck pedal syndrome' happened to her also this past fall. it was taken care of by a dealer in allentown, pa. she then also mentioned that the steering wheel 'jerks out of her hand' when driving. this has happened to her more than once. the dealer in allentown was told of this, along with the fact that she had a problem with her driver side window not rolling down when the switch was activated. this happened to her once. this dealer could not duplicate the 2 above mentioned other problems. i told her she is to document any future issues with this car. i am estimating the incident dates. she said they took place in the fall semester. i do not have the information available as to what her speed was at the time the steering wheel had a habit of jerking out of her hand. i do know that there is highway commuting involved along with non highway driving involved. *tr

On 27jan10, i drove home and parked the car under the carport before an ice storm hit oklahoma with no issues. on friday 29jan10, i had to move my car to shovel the snow from the driveway and the car would not start. i made sure everything (defroster, fan, etc) were off and tried again. it wouldn't start and sounded like the engine was almost starting but not quite. i tried a 3rd time and it finally started. all three attempts were several seconds long. the dashboard would not light up and after about 5 seconds, it finally lit up but the engine check light and vsc icon light were on and the vsc off light was flashing. i let it warm up for a while and the lights still did not go away. i moved the car to get the snow out of the way and parked it in the same place again. the following monday, 1feb10, i drove to work with the same 3 lights lit up on roads that had some ice. i fishtailed in two intersections and i've felt the vehicle speed control kick in on wet roads last year but it never kicked in that day so i know for a fact that i did not have vehicle speed control. i drove to work and fired off an e-mail to the local dealership but i could not come in until wednesday 3feb10 and by then, the lights went away on their own. they did, however, find a code and they told me that it was a camshaft timing code or something of that sort but the original code that caused the engine check light to come on was already kicked out of memory. this was the first and only time this ever happened. the dealership reset the code for the camshaft timing code but nothing else was done except record it in my file at my request in case it happens again. i did some research and found that some people have had this problem come up when it's cold and wet. for your information, the oklahoma mesonet site says that the high/low temperatures are: 27jan10 66f/43f, 28jan10 46f/28f, and 29jan10 25f/19f. we had rain at first, then sleet, then snow during that period. *tr

I own a 2010 toyota corolla, which my 19 year old daughter drives, which is involved in the gas pedal recall. she also describes an steering problem -- difficulty keeping the car from veering, has to hold steering wheel tight to keep it straight, describes it like car is sliding on ice. when i asked our toyota dealer service dept advisor about it he said to check the tire inflation. i now see that this is a complaint from others. i am concerned that this car is not safe for her to drive! she drives it to and from college on interstate 95 and says this problem occurs at all speeds, especially 45 and over. *tr

As i was coming downhill on steep mt. helix and stepped on the brakes, the car accelerated instead of reducing the speed, at that moment i could clearly hear the rotation actually increasing. i had to press it harder and control the wheel to get it to reduce the speed. this has happened 3 other times while driving downhill in the 2 months i have owned this 2010 corolla. the next morning i took my car to the dealership and waited for about 1 hour for the car to be inspected and the pedal accelerator recall issue fixed, but the service staff told me that the brakes were fine and they had run out of the recall parts. they could not give me a time table when the parts were going to arrive. i also contacted 2 other dealerships later that day, and the only answer i got was that we were all in the same boat, nobody knew when said parts were expected to arrive. *cn

Toyota corolla le 2010 did not respond to brakes properly for 100 feet when slowing from 10 mph at intersection. road was slightly damp but not frozen or slippery. abs & vsc lights went on brakes ground so loudly as i applied more pressure, it sounded as though they'd break off. 2 toyota service depts have dismissed my concerns saying the roads must have been worse than i thought. i've been driving for 35 years and have never experienced this kind of out of control vehicle. i believe there is something in the chip or software or complete brake/vsc/gas pedal combo. very concerned toyota gas pedal fix is not the complete culprit. *tr

In november of 2009 i purchased a new toyota corolla sport and within 2 days noticed the tachometer racing even when the car was in neutral. i also noticed that when i would take my foot off the gas and press in the clutch the tachometer would accelerate as much as 2000 rpm and stay there. i have taken my car back to the toyota dealership where it was purchased three times in 2009 and once in 2010 regarding unexplained acceleration. even when i am not in the car and the car is idling all of a sudden the engine suddenly accelerates from .6 on the tachometer to 6.4 on the tachometer. the dealership says they can't replicate the issues and have advised me not to drive the car. when i took the vehicle in the last time i had 5 recording on my cell phone where you can clearly see the tachometer over 6,000rpm with no one in the vehicle. they have told me they can't help me at this time. i am concerned about how long this action will take as i need my car. *tr

I had an accident on january 27th 2010 , i have a toyota corolla 2010 with faulty accelerator pedal(recalled) my car bought on december 13 2010 from toyota dealership. i was pulling my car from my garage as usual very slow holding my foot on the brakes but this time suddenly my car accelerates so fast that the next thing i knew i was in garage door of the house across the street. i was unable stop the car immediately even after i pressed the brakes very hard. by the time it stopped the car broke the garage door of the house across the street. luckily nobody was injured. along the way the car brushed off the bumper of another parked unattended car and sheared off the license plate. license plate was damaged, the bumper was scratched. my car was damaged and my farmers insurance paid for repair of my car and car parked on the street. the owner of the house needed to use her car parked in her garage urgent and told me to repair garage door immediately. same day the new garage door was installed by garage master inc. garage door was broken beyond repair. i paid immediately by check to the garage co. i also paid for door painting. i reported this accident to the dmv. i was able to reach toyota customer experience line only in two days on january 29. finally i was informed that my car has a faulty accelerator pedal. case manager told me inspection will be scheduled soon. my case number #1001151635 . since the accident i am not driving this car for safety reason. it has been parked in the garage since february 8. i am requesting compensation for all my expenses. but toyota told me to wait for an inspection as they are very busy. today is march 5 and nothing has been done by toyota only words and promises. they are not returning calls. i asked for the e-mail of the case manager - e-mail only for local usage refuse to provide email please help as soon as possible thank you. updated 03/17/10

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. while driving at various speeds of 3 mph or more, there would be a sudden increase in the rpms without warning. while depressing the accelerator pedal, the pedal would often return to the idle position very slowly. there would also be instances when the vehicle would feel as if it was losing power while traveling downhill, at any speed, also causing a sudden increase in rpms. the dealer installed a cut metal bar to the accelerator pedal per nhtsa campaign id number: 10v023000; component: vehicle speed control:accelerator pedal in an attempt to correct the failure. the failure persisted. there were no further repairs performed on the vehicle. the failure and current mileages were 2,376.
