The car completely shut off when driving, without any warning! luckily, the driver was not rear- ended!! the car was towed to toyota where we were told that the inverter needs to be replaced for $9000! the car is in otherwise great shape and has been serviced at toyota regularly . the last check up was last month at 118,000 miles! this is exactly the same problem reported for the 2006 toyota highlander hybrid, which was recalled.

I was on a slight incline, as i was approaching a traffic light, i hit the brakes. while i thought the vehicle was going to stop, it began to accelerate. i hit the brakes numerous times and eventually came to a stop. when i brought my vehicle to toyota, they simply dismissed the issue indirectly saying i didn't know how to drive. i was then lowballed when i attempted to sell the vehicle back to them. i've noticed steve wozniak has been able to recreate the incident.

My suv starts itself without anyone or the key fob being anywhere near the vehicle. it has done this at least 9 times and happens anywhere and at any time of day or night. it is too dangerous to park in my garage so i leave it outside all the time. toyota factory nor dealer have offered any suggestions to correct the problem. i want it recalled or bought back. it is unsafe to have a car that does this. car has done this since nov 2009 that i have noticed.

I own a 2008 toyota hybrid highlander.i have experienced a lag before the brakes kick in and it seems like the car is accelerating as i am braking. it ifeels as if when it happens i am hitting the brake and gas pedal at the same time. it is somewhat frightening. it has happened at least 5 times since i have owned the car. i believe it is the same issue as the preius. it feels like a brief surge. please investigate as toyota is not recalling the hybrid highlander. i believe it is the same technology and issue the preius is experiencing
