I was entering a parking space, i approached the space about 5 mph. the vehicle suddenly accelerated, the steering locked and the brakes went to the floor. the vehicle jumped the curbing and hit the truck in the next righthand space. it connected with the trucks left front fender.that stopped the vehicle.

Leased a 2010 toyota prius 3 mths ago. right from the start gives very low mileage: 39-41mpg and have been tracking it between every fill up. always filled up 10 gallons and reset trip meter every time. gives only 390-410 miles per fill up. complained to the dealer service center at greentree toyota and they say that nothing is wrong with the car and the mileage should improve after 10,000miles. right now the car has over 5200miles. for the last 2 mths, i started noticing that the speedometer is reading higher too. if the roadside radar shows 35, the prius speedometer shows 37 as the speed. an overage of 2 miles. so, if when i have driven the car 900miles in actuality, the odometer would read 1000miles and hence the car is aging at a faster rate as far as mileage is concerned and also that the fuel economy is affected even further since the car is not giving even the 39-41miles per gallon. the dealership manager charlie moneco tells me that it is normal industry standards for the speedometer to be off and that these are not certifield speedometers. the dealership service center manager chris morgado tells me that there is nothing wrong with the car and that it is within legal limits for the speedometer to be off. the dealership service center techinical manager nicky blank tells me that they test drove to like vehicles and found that both vehicles did the same mileage and hence the conclusion that there is nothing wrong with my car. i questioned the testing process since there is no outside source like a radar that is clocking any of the cars to tell which one is at what speed. called toyota motor corpn. at 1-800-331-4331 and spoke to sophie soorafai and she says that if the dearlership and its service center is saying that they can do nothing, then they stand by the dealership. toyota cannot help me any further. the case number from toyota is # 1012061191 lodged today 12.06.2010.

Toyota prius 2010 going downhill pushing the brakes to stop before red light in the uneven pavement the car suddenly loses all fours wheels brakes for a fraction of a second . when the wheel that passed the road bump the brakes come back again and stop the car. it happened three time in the last 4 months that i have the car. same car defect in the fuel system. after leaving in the garage for 5 consecutive days, the car did not started automatically as it should do. it made for several seconds a metal to metal noise before the engine finally started to funtioning as usual. seams like the engine starved of fuel. same car excessive vibration on the driver side door panel when the radio or music is on. it stops when i hold with my knee tha panel. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota prius. while driving 5 mph she smelled a strong gasoline odor. the vehicle was inspected and there were no visible leaks. the dealer authorized the tow truck to retrieve the vehicle since she was afraid to drive it. the dealer test drove the vehicle and did not find any leaks or detect any gasoline odor. the failure and the current mileages were 7,000. updated 03/09/10. *lj updated 05/12/10.8jb

I was on a trip to arizona and when driving in my 2010 prius from flagstaff to phoenix during the evening, the batter display's top segment glowed red many times in the descent from flagstaff. it was a very diffcult to drive to keep the top segment from turning red as the vehicle was coasting and i did not want to exceed the speed limit so i realy did not now what to do. i decided to shift to neutral so the engine was not brakng. hwever in neutral i was wearing out my vehicles brakes which also worried me because of the pssibility of overheating the brakes. i looked in my vehicle manual but nothing as in the booklet about this type of occurence. so i asked my toyota service personnel at rudy luther toyota in golden valley, mn and they had not heard of this problem. he gave me a the telephone number for customer service representatives at toyota and after discussing this incident with many people in customer service at toyota, the end result was that the battery was fully charged and when this occurs the top bar will glow red but this will not effect the battery. i do not know if this is true or toyota is just putting me off but others at the following toyota forum have also experienced this problem. is this a safety problem, i do not know. is it a battery warranty problem, i do not know. but please look at this forum thread and maybe you can discuss this more fully with toyota. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-main-forum/67994-all-bars-battery-indicator-4.html on the return trip and here in minnesota i have not had this problem occur as there are not many long descents.

I own a 2010 prius. after putting 10k miles on it, i have yet to see the 50+ mpg. i could have easily bought a honda civic, saved $15,000+ and still gotten 38mpg. i have taken the car to the dealership on a few occasions and they cannot tell me why i have lost almost 20mpg. all they can tell me is that it is probably the gas that i am using. i can see how this might make a slight difference like 3-4mpg, but not 20! i believe the 50mpg benchmark given by toyota is bogus. i want my money back! *tr

I own a 2010 toyota prius, 3rd generation. when i am braking and hit a pothole or a manhole cover, the car surges forward. i took it to the dealership today and they checked the car and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. they also said they had no knowledge of any kind of braking or surging problems with this vehicle. our dealer was eastern shore toyota in daphne, al. this has happened approximately 6 different times since we bought the car in 2009. it started to occur approximately in july 2009, with the most recent episode in january 2010. *tr

2010 toyota prius - when braking, if you hit a bump or pot hole in the road, the car lunges forward (accelerates). you have to really pay attention for this occurrence or you will rear end someone. i has happen about 5 times now. this seems to be a electronics issue not a pedal problem. *tr
