The head lights shine in a pie shape at night. they should shine straight across. if you make a right turn where there are no street lights, and we have a lot of those around, you can not see if you are going to hit a person or the ditch. i go in the left lane to avoid an accident as long as there is no on coming traffic. this is the first care of many that had this problem.

The autodim rearview mirror does not reduce glare from headlight of cars behind my car. autodim functionality is not affected by turning the autodim feature on or off (it is the same either ways). the only option i have to prevent glare hitting my eyes is to turn the mirror away so i do not see anything. toyota customer service says that i should have it checked by the dealership. the dealership shines a flashlight on the rear view and reports that it is working fine. the problem is that the shape of the car's rear glass and spoiler prevents the headlinghts from hitting the sensor on the auto-dim mirror.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 toyota prius. the contact stated the rear view hangs down to low and it blocks the view of the driver. the contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told that it part of the new design on the 2010-2011 model. the contact states the mirror hangs to inches lower than other models and blocks the drivers view to the right. the contact stated they own two other model years of this vehicle and those do not have the same visual flaw. the current mileage was 10,000.rl

I purchased a 2010 prius level 4. included in this pakage is an auto dimming rear view mirror with homelink. the auto dimming function does not work properly. it seems to be very distance dependent. there is a narrow focal range that the sensor reacts to. if a vehicle is to close or to far away the auto dimming function does not really dim very much. considering how low the vehicle is this is incredible annoying and un-safe. also this vehicle has split rear glass in the hatch back. the center bar i believe also blocks the light from headlights from reaching the sensor. if you tilt the mirror up so that you do not see the center bar (only the top portion of the rear glass), the mirror seems to work better. as a side note, i purchased a manual flip mirror witht the correct part # for a 2010 prius from my local toyota dealer and the new mirror has a different mounting style.

The rear window on 2010 toyota prius , while driving at night, generates the vertical light bars attached to the source of light , ex: headlight of the folowing vehicle, thus image of the cars traffic on the busy highway is totally distorted by the presence of the these unwarranted light efects. this defect introduces the safety issue while driving in heavy traffic, the driver is presented with the light effects that totally blurs the back view .the issue is augmented if the rear window is tinted . the issue had been been verified by round rock(texas) toyota and appears to have been a test escape. however the dealership refused to address the problem arguing that there is insufficient field data that would justify action to be taken. being the user of the multiple toyota product in the past, i can express the heavy concern about the potential safety breach while driving at night, primarily in heavy hiway traffic.

My toyota prius has the problem that has been reported in the news. the vehicle has brake/stability control issues as soon as one of the wheels leave the suface of the road. the anti-lock system seems to be too aggressive and thereby is dangerous. there is nothing that the driver can do to avoid this. it is a traction-control/brake issue. also, rear vision is about as bad as looking out the rear of the oscar mayer weiner mobile. the side mirrors need more rear vision. *cn

On my way home from work i had the sunroof opened and a rock hit the deflector (a piece of tempered glass) and shattered it. i took it to the dealer and it was replaced at a cost of $907.66. my concern is that this deflector and sunroof are unsafe...being only tempered glass and not safety glass. the entire roof is made of this glass. i had assumed that the vehicle was safe. i fear that any falling object (like a stone or hail) poses a danger to my safety. *tr

The problem that is causing the head lights to burn out simultaneously needs to be resolved. it is a safety hazard for this to continue. purchased a toyota prius 2010 in december 2010. since that time, the head lights have been a problem. each time there is a problem, both head lights burn out simultaneously. the first time the head lights failed was august 7, 2012 when there were five of us in the car driving 15+ miles with about a third of the drive on many residential streets that were not well lit. the dealership in florida was called and it was explained that both headlights burned out at the same time and that it must be something other than the bulbs because headlights do not burn out together at the same time. the service representative quoted that the cost of the repair to replace the head lights was about $150. he did not ask if the car was under warrantee and he did not acknowledge that it could be something in the electrical system. he did not suggest that the car be brought in to have them put it on diagnostic machines to verify where the problem may be.we opted to replace the bulbs ourselves. the second time both head lights burned out simultaneously was october 21, 2012 and we again, replaced the bulbs ourselves. the cost of the bulbs including tax is $54.36. this morning is the third time both lights have burned out at the same time again. the prius has 35,840 miles. this is not reasonable. we have already spent $108.72 to replace the bulbs twice. it is unreasonable. it is extremely unsafe not knowing when and where the head lights will burn out. we have teenage drivers and it is upsetting to know they are not in a safe vehicle.
