Car was parked after being driven in normal conditions. when car was started, stability control, trac off and check engine light were lit. took car to repair shop. lights were reset, indications were there was a loose clamp. two days later, the same thing happened. the mechanic stated there was a possibility i had gotten bad gas. prior to all this, i had purchased a full tank of gas, but noticed as i was coming home from work after making the purchase that the car seemed sluggish at times, almost to the point of stalling out. it never stalled out. he suggested putting an additive in my fuel tank, reset the lights and i went on. the next day, the same thing happened. went back to the mechanic. he did a deeper diagnosis. again he stated the same 10 fuel-related codes came up. he stated i should go to the dealership to confirm the diagnosis of a canister problem. i went to the toyota dealership. they confirmed that the evaporator canister was in need of replacement, as well as the fact i needed a new gas cap. i purchased a new gas cap, and am currently waiting for the evaporator canister to come in to get the car repaired. i am hoping it will be repaired 4/1/11.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota scion xb. while driving approximately 20 to 50 mph, the headlights dimmed and visibility was reduced. the lights would illuminate again moments later. while driving 30 mph uphill, the vehicle accelerated to 60 mph. the brakes were applied, but would not function unless they were engaged at a rapid pace. occasionally the engine shuts off, the front end shakes while driving 20-50 mph, and the cruise control switch failed to engage. the vehicle continued to burn an excessive amount of fuel after the oil was changed and the check engine light illuminated. the radio failed and the dealer stated that they would replace it when the parts arrive. the mechanic stated that the back of the bumper was split, which caused it to fall off of the vehicle. the dealer also offered her $14,000 for the vehicle only if she paid them $5,000. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure; however, they stated that the failures were electrical. the failure mileage was 400 and current mileage was 12,000. updated 02-14-08. *kb

Sometimes when i need quick response power from the engine it doesn't not have power to accelerate. i have to step on the accelerator a few less than full and the vehicle run like a turtle and after 4000 rpm the power start to come. this is a problem at intersections, traffic lights when i really are a low speed car at traffic when start to run. also the automatic transmission change up to overdrive at 35 mph too quick getting worst the acceleration when you are normal driving. is not check engine indication but one automotive mechanic after he drive says than the engine have a bog problem too lean fuel mixture. when he turn off the a/c the problem is less he says is because the idle control valve don't by pass air at throttle and it's less air getting at the engine without tps registration. *jb
