The drivers side seatbelt where it attaches to the base between the seats is loose. the tailgate hatch assembly broke off. this is the only way to open the trunk and it is a cheap piece of plastic attached to the hatchback with 2 screws. as i was trying to open the trunk, the whole assembly came off in my hand. i have seen this in several other scions around town.

Hello to whom it may concern: this has happened twice first time it was fixed they (dealer) never explained just what they fixed, second it happened again both times it broke upon opening they(dealer) the second time wanted 285 bucks to repair it appears to be just simple clips that broke? this is is clearly safety related for emergency exit if locks fail or airbags fail to deploy or even if the bags deploy the electrical component(s) may have a system failure and exiting out through the rear or even doing an emergency evac if there is a engine fire opening from the outside is more than likely not possible even if it's possible how about break ins? i have a question any mandates for repairs at dealer cost of the rear door latch handle and lock?

On 4 separate incidents, my car accelerated on it's own while sitting still. the last incident was on march 23rd while i was sitting still in a mcdonald's drive thru. my foot was on the brake and the car suddenly acted as if i had stepped fully down on the gas pedal. i had to really push my foot down on the brake to keep it from lunging forward. i immediately pushed it into park and the car stopped accelarating. this is very dangerous and i am extremely worried it will happen again!

The rear hatch handle on my 06 scion xb has broken off on the right side and now just hangs there. i can hardly ever get into my trunk because of this. i am worried that it will come off completely as i am driving down the road and become a dangerous hazard for another driver. also the rear latch button rubber cover becomes so hot that it begins to melt. when you push the button it will leave black reidue on your hands. this prevents the button from working and unlatching the back hatch. not sure if it is melting due to electrical problems or the sun. worried could get to hot and catch fire sometime.

A rock went thru my grille stright into the air condition compressor. although not a safety issue, this same thing happened to my granddaughter who lives in another state. the repair costs are around $700.00 i believe there are more of us out there and that the grille is an unsafe issue for my car

I was driving very slowly in a parking lot and had braked at a 3 way. i turned slowly with my foot gently on the gas pedal to go into a parking space and the car suddenly accelerated and went into the abutment of the parking space. i was able to brake.

Jan 31, 2011 - 2006 scion xb with appx. 38,000 miles stalled on the freeway at 65 mph with no apparent cause. i was able to safely coast down an exit ramp and waited appx. 5 minutes before restarting the car. it performed perfectly after that. after looking into it on the internet and realizing that i am not the only one who has experienced this problem, i have now contacted the dealership and am awaiting a response. no corrective action has been taken to date.

Accelerated (took off) while driving at highway speed (5 incidences)...originally i thought it was a problem with my aftermarket cruise control. i called dealership and reported that they should not recommend aftermarket cruise at the time...they claimed no other problems. after 2nd incidence cruise control was replaced by installer and he called the company...none was familiar with the problem on my cruise module (he showed me how to disconnect cruise under the hood since current still runs through mechanism since cruise was in off position during 2nd incident)...the problem then happened again (3 times in same day on way to airport)with new cruise mechanism. no problems in last 2 years, but it's a daily gamble...now i have to wonder if the cruise was ever even part of the equation in the problem with all the accelerator and other problems i've read online. i checked with the dealership again this year and they deny any problem with scion accelerators or brake not depressing (it always felt like my brake and gas were fighting like if you 2 footed in a manuel equally, but i own a automatic...it's very scary).

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota scion xb. the vehicle was parked when the contact observed the vapor canister located above the rear axle failed, due moisture coming from the filler tube. the manufacturer and dealer stated there was no recall related to the failure or warranty. the failure mileage was 79,900.
