2002 toyota sequioa 4wd. check engine light, vsc off, vcs trac lights are all on and vehicle is nearly impossible to drive in the rain. after checking with multiple sources online and by phone, it appears the skid control ecu with actuator is the problem and this part runs over $2000 dollars! i understand repairs come with the territory, but when there are literally thousands of these sequioas with the exact same problem, i just assumed there would be a recall. not so according to toyota. they deem it a rare occurence and a customers problem if no longer under warranty. i bought my vehicle from car-mart and they wont help either. i'm just a working stiff folks. i can either get the vehicle fixed or feed my kids. guess i'm walking the 45 minutes to work each way when things go bad if toyoyo gets their way. thanks. sorry for venting. *tr

2002 toyota sequoia limited 4wd. air conditioner stopped working after 71,000 miles. as a result, the defroster does not work. windshield and side mirrors fog up during cold/rain. cannot see causing dangerous driving conditions. have to open windows in snow/rain/cold. need new air compressor. toyota said they are aware of the defective compressors but i am responsible to replace at a cost of over $3,000. i feel the compressor should not have broken after so few miles and toyota has a technical bulletin out that they are aware of the problem. many, many others online have reported the same defective compressor. i feel toyota should pay for all or part of the repair on a $45,000 truck that has so few miles. *tr

Tl- the contact owns a 2002 toyota sequoia. while driving at the speeds of 70 mph when there was violent vibration and also a loss of power . he was able to pull over and turned it off. after he was then able to turn it on and it drove perfectly fine. this has occurred 5 additional at lower speeds. the dealer was contacted and they diagnosed it stating that it was the yaw censor that needed to be replaced. there have been no repairs as of yet to the vehicle. the vehicle identification number was not available. the failure mileage were 140,000 and current mileage were 150,000.cv

In 8/06 i noticed a roaring/grinding noise coming from my end. l. bearing replaced x2. problem remained. then replaced the right front bearing. still to no avail. i then took my car to toyota in tampa who stated the replaced bearing had been pressed in too tight. i took my car back to the mechanic who then took the entire assembly over toyota in clearwater to replace the entire assembly. still no resolution. tire problem? so, i took it back to the tire kingdom who put on new michelin cross terrain suv tires. problem remained. so i took it back to them and they then put on a new set of michelin ltx tires. problem remained. so, i then took it to collisiontec in clearwater, thinking that perhaps tire kingdom might have bent something when they originally rotated the tires. (the certified toyota mechanic had previously inspected everything under my car when he first had it but had been unable to detect any damage). collisiontec drove the car and did an initial inspection, but could not detect anything. they have asked to have me bring the car back so that they can keep it for a week and do a complete inspection. in the meantime, my check engine light came on and the vsc/vtc light came on, so i took it back to the toyota mechanic. the o2 sensor needs to be fixed/replaced. to fix the vsc/vtc toyota doesn't sell the one part needed, only the complete set for $900! this is all on top of the original roar/grinding/vibration problem which still exists!! reapairs now up to 2k & no resolution. also, my car was recalled for the ball joint problem. there is no sticker indicating ball joints replaced. if the ball joints were not replaced as they should have been, could this be the source of the roar/grinding/vibration? this roar/grinding/vibration is coming from the front and occurs only when the car is in motion. *nm

Some time the vehicle skid control light activete and most of the engine power is instant cut. the power not restored until the vehicle has completely stopped moving, or when you push trac off button. when this malfunction on the middle of intersection is very danger cause you can maintain a speed consistent with the flow of the traffic and it may get hit either behind or on the side. dt

Strong smell of sulfur inside of car. occurs even when ac system is set on recirculate. concerned about passenger safety if exhaust fumes are entering vehicle. toyota service department said at first that it was normal and would disappear within 3000 - 5000 miles of driving. when smell was still there at 10,000 miles, was told that the smell is normal and is related to using low octane gas. i now have 25,000 miles and switched to 93 octane gas and still have continuing problems with smell, it may even be worse now than it was at first. it is very embarrassing with passengers in the car.*ak

My 2002 toyota sequoia is emitting a foul, rotten egg, sulfurous smell from the exhaust. my vehice only has 2000 miles on it and the catalytic converter has been replaced once. i cotacted the manufacturer and was told that the smell is a bi-product of the sulfur in the fuel not being completely burned in the converter. i was asked to use higher octane fuel and that did not solve the problem. the manufacturer is telling the dealer that they are aware of the situation and they are investigating it. i did notice the smell on other sequoias.
