My toyota sequoia sr5 is showing some lights in dashboard. first it was the vsc solid light coming on then off on it own, after some months, the airbag light came on then off then solid on, i went to the toyota dealer to get it check out, and they couldn`t find what is making the airbags light to come on. more recently, i started having a cruise control problem as well. the cruise control will sometimes work and also some other time refuse to work unless you turn the steering wheel over and over again and then it will sometimes kick -in. i have also noticed that the car will loose power while simply driving it, when it does so, the system will will still be running but simply will get weak no matter how much gas you`re giving to the pedal. i hope to have this issues investigated since toyota doesn`t really address them when i call them. warm regards,

After making a left turn the vsc trac, slip indicator skid, and malfunction indicator lamp lights came on and have remained on. today the brake warning light has come on and remained on. concerned with the large number of complaints from other 2004 owners and toyota lack of interest to resolve the problem in timely and fair manner. it appears this problem has been known for many years, changing owners many expensive repair bills and vehicles remain unfixed. toyota owners relying on toyota to provide a quality product and stand behind the that product when a problem like this occurs. *tr

The vsc, trac and brake warning lights will all come on at the same time for undetermined reasons. when this occurs the anti-lock brakes shudder and can experience a loss in power. this issue raises many safety concerns. based on my research this is chronic issue for this model vehicle, but yet no recall from toyota. *tr

My wife was driving vehicle and she had noticed a bang or thump coming from the car. she had noticed prior that the brake warning light had come sporadically. the trac, vsc, and abs lights came on and have stayed on since. the front brake rotors have been turned twice since then because for whatever reason the rotors are warping. the front brakes grind now and the only way to stop it, is to turn the rotors. checked into the repair, but unable to afford $2,000 to fix a known problem with this vehicle. we love the vehicle but hate the problem that we are having and disappointed with toyota. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 toyota sequoia which was purchased brand new. while driving at speeds of 60 mph there was a popping noise in the vehicle. the vehicle then made an unintended 80 degree left turn in a swift jerking motion and proceeded to hit a cement pipe in a ditch. the driver's side front tire was knocked off the vehicle. both the driver and passenger were knocked unconscious at the time. the passenger and driver awoke and the crash was still occurring. the vehicle continued to pick up speeds; however the contact did not notice the exact speeds. the vehicle was on three wheels and continued to proceed. the passenger was knocked unconscious a second time. the passenger awoke to someone flashing light into the vehicle. the contact sustained a broken tibia, seven broken ribs, fractured sternum and a fractured vertebrae. the driver sustained a concussion, bruised face and a small left hand fracture. both were taken to a nearby hospital. a police report was filed at the scene of the crash. the vehicle was destroyed. the failure and current mileages were 84,199.

Vehicle loses control of acceleration when turning and causes other vehicles to nearly crash into my vehicle. the vsc (vehicle skid control) system activates in error during normal driving on dry pavement due to faulty system (this is know problem with toyota sequoia). secondary problem related to this, the vehicle skid control system does not disengage while in snow and it gets stuck. *tr

Vsc/trac off lights illuminated on 2004 toyota sequoia. problem occurred while driving in rainy conditions on i-10. lights have remained illuminated despite 2 computer resets. according to multiple internet chat rooms, this is a common problem on the '03 and '04 sequoia. the most common fixes have been to replace the traction control computer and/ or the steering angle sensor in the steering column. *tr

Just bought a 2004 toyota sequoia and the vsc skid control computer has to be replaced. its $1500 to replace. apparently this is not covered by the powertrain and this is a safety issue. *tr

*******2004 toyota sequoia ltd vsc computer failure, wheel lockup on left********* brake light, vsc and trac light all came on. i was driving approx. 20 mph and the left front wheel locked up and the car pulled sharply to the left. the brake pedal went to the floor and i lost brake pedal effectiveness. i turned the car off and restarted it and all lights went out and brake feel and effectiveness appears ok. i took the car straight to the dealer for inspection. for the last 2 years the brake light would come on and stay on and when i turned off the car and restarted it the light would go off. for 2 years my local dealer in butler, pa could not get a failure code. when i took the car for diagnostics, the cause was the ecm part number 89541-oc062 at a cost of about $1377.00. they replaced it at the great dealership in langhorne,pa. i have 55,659 miles on this vehicle. since the repair the brake warning light has come on one time and stayed on, when we restarted the car it went away. i will return to dealer to have this checked again next time it comes on. it seems to me that this lockup of the wheel and loss of braking effectiveness is a real big safety issue on these vehicles. please get back to me to tell me if nhtsa is looking into this situation. thank you! *tr

Brake light, vsc and trac light all came on. initially the brake light would come on and i was turn off the car and restart it and the light would go off and occasionally the vsc light would come on but lastly all came on with a weird sound as if the anti lock brake was activated when i was going to a stop at an intersection with a stop sign. the brake pedal felt as if i lost pressure and the car did not stop. when i took the car for diagnostics, the cause was the ecm part number 89541-0c062 at a cost of about $1800.00. i have just ran out of warranty several month back and i only have 38970 miles on the vehicle. *tr

My complaint is basically identical to one already on file for another sequoia 2004. when slowing down to make a turn, our vehicle has on a number of occasions lost power. there is a second or two where the accelerator fails to provide any response and then it recovers. once when i was making a turn in front of oncoming traffic i thought i thought i would be hit before the vehicle recovered. i have asked the service people about this twice but they say they cannot do anything if they can't duplicate. however, one service man said he had heard of similar complaints from other customers. they mention something about a firewire that affects the throttle but with no remedy in sight. it seems to me that it's just a matter of time before this results in an accident for someone. *nm

Vsc (vehicle stability control) system intermittently shuts off the accelerator on my 2004 toyota sequoia. it has nearly caused an accident on three occasions, one of which my entire family including two small children were traveling across state for christmas. i have read numerous complaints across the internet of similar vsc computer failures and toyota's knowledge of the problem. it is time that the nhtsa applied the appropriate pressure to toyota to get them to initiate a recall and repair program for the problem before someone gets killed. *tr
