I started my car and drove off, and i noticed the vsc trac lights stayed on. the vehicle appears to drive fine, but the vsc trac lights stayed on. upon doing my own research online i discovered that many sequoia owners have experienced the same issue, but toyota has refused to do a recall. this issue with vsc trac is a huge safety concern. through my research i discovered that the vehicle could lose power at any time, and many owners state they hear a grinding noise as the vehicle pulls to the right or left.

The vsc, trak light and abs lights came on which in turn made the check engine light come on. they stay on continually. at first no code could be found. then dealer stated that the ecu had to be replaced as well as air pump - both totalling over $3000. this is not the only sequoia to have this happen. other years have been recalled so why not the 2005 - or any other year since it seems to be an issue. i emailed and talked to toyota. they have not heard of this problem and can not help with it's solution. last toyota i'll have. *tr

My vsc trac, vsc off comes on all the time and don't go away. this appears to be a manufacture issue.

Vsc, trac off, and emergency brake lights all stayed on after car was started. for the next week or so they would go off then come back on and then stayed on continually. i took it to my dealership on june 16, 2012 and they said the skid control computer needed replaced and they had to order the part. on june 19, 2012 they replaced this part at a charge of $1013.56. on june 22, 2012 all these lights have again come on. i was told at the time of the initial diagnosis there had been a bulletin issued about this issue. i ask why it wasn't recalled if it was a known safety issue and they just said it was a bulletin not a recall.

Break lights have been coming on and off for about three months. on 05/6/12 the engine began making a whining noise which sounded like the fan. turned on and off the car three times and the whining sound went away. next day same problem then the check engine, vsc track &trac off lights came on. took it to toyota dealer who is quoting a price of $3k to fix. i am noticing quite a number of these same complaints is this a recall issue for toyota?

The yaw rate sensor is defective. this causes the vsc trac to engage and slows the vehicle right away, also causes power failure in the aspect of when it engages engine slows and can ever shut off.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. the contact was driving approximately 35 mph and approaching a traffic stop. as the contact engaged the brakes, the transmission began to jerk with hesitation. in addition, the vsc off, vsc trac, check engine and brake warning indicators were illuminated. the warning indicators remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. the vehicle was then taken to the dealer where they advised that both the vsc computer and transmission were defective. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. while driving approximately 25 mph he noticed the defroster, the windshield wiper and the rear window to the hatch was not working. he stated the power rear window would not go up and down. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact stated the dealer advised him that the vehicle was fix. the contact did not know what the dealer did. four to five months later the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for the failure. the contact stated the dealer fix the vehicle but he did not know what they did. after 6 to 7 months the failure happen again and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the vehicle was not repair since the vehicle was no longer under warranty and the cost was $800 to repair the vehicle. the contact stated that he was advised that the dealer was pressing a button and shutting the hatch down hard to fix the failure. the vehicle had not been repaired. the contact stated that there was a electrical short that was causing the failure. the vin was not available. the approximately failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 106,000. vwb

I was on my way home from work when the engine light came on for a few seconds then disappeared. two days later the engine light came on again and the vehicle started to ride rough like it need a tune-up. the engine light disappeared and the vehicle drove fine until i reached home. the engine light, vsc off and vsc trac all came on and the vehicle was riding really rough. i took it to firestone so they could look at but they couldn't figure out the problem. so i took it to toyota so they could fix the problem. they thought it was carbon build up around the cylinders, so they cleaned all eight cylinders but that didn't work. i still had to pay for it. the finale solution was for them to tear down the engine. they claimed that piston #3 wasn't working at its full capacity after running a compression test but they're not 100% sure. the cost for them to take the head off would be $862 and another $862 to put it back together plus what ever real problem is. the service guy at toyota said that he has seen three similar problems like this and it cost the customer around $3000. my dvd player wasn't working so the tech tested it and stated that power was going to it and that it should work. three weeks later the dvd player worked but now my back window didn't. when i push the button for the back window the back wiper comes on.

Trac off, vsc trac and brake light on. all three lights come and go at will. i had simlar problem during warranty. for last 2 years it has come and gone. but this time it is more on than off for last 10 days.

Brake warning light comes on periodicaly. vsc light shows on and off. all three lights come on and off. traction control is activated without warning. i am reluctant to take in to the shop, since many of the compaints have spent much $$ and no results. this is very similar to the issue the 2003 models were having, which toyota recalled the problem. this needs to be addressed on all models and all years that are affected. this vehicle is used by my wife and three kids. it is stressful knowing that this vehicle could potentially harm my family.

Brake light, vsc light, low tire pressure light, abs light, and one other light come on when it's cold. they go off when it's above 40 or so degrees. replaced brakes and fixed parking brake (drove with it on because i got so used to ignoring all of the lights). lights were off for about a week. 21 degrees out today and all the lights are back on. will call toyota and discuss why i just spent $900 and the lights are still coming on. *tw

I was leasing an 2005 sequoia through southeast toyota. i purchased the vehicle 6 months ago and at the time it was certified. since i have had the vehicle i experienced the brake light going on and off. it never stayed on long enough to take it in to be checked out and would often go away after the car was turned off and then on again. recently, the check engine, vsc trac and trac off lights came on and remained lit after the car was started - the brake light would also continue to come on after driving and would not always come back on after the car was turned off and started back up again. i took my sequoia into the closest dealer and was told that i needed a skid control ecu #89541-0c070 ($2206), master cylinder pressure sensor #89637-0c020 ($477.86) and a knock sensor bank 2 #89615-06010 #17171-50030 ($741). my research has showed that i am not the only vehicle owner with this problem. the service department has confirmed with me that there is nothing wrong with my vehicle; however, because the sensors are malfunctioning, my abs and trac is not working. i have called toyota corporate. they were only willing to help me out with approx 20% of the cost. i made my first call yesterday. i called again to day and was told that i should hear back from a manager by 6pm pst tomorrow. an investigation needs to be started on this problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. the brake lights, check engine light, and vcs track light illuminated intermittently on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately nine times. the dealer replaced the brake booster the first time, checked the emissions and cleared the codes the second time, cleared the code the third time, replaced the fuel filter neck the fourth time, and replaced the brake booster again the fifth time. while driving at an unknown speed, the brakes failed and the dealer replaced the computer skid control. the current mileage was 20,000 and failure mileage was 6,802.

Our 2005 toyota sequoia limited has had several problems since the day we brought it home. however, we recently had an electrical failure and it was the second such event. my wife, mother-in-law and our 2 small children(ages 3 and 1) were in the car and while moving the car just stopped. it would not accelerate, pushing the gas pedal did nothing, the check engine light was on along with the vsc lights. my wife could only let the car coast to a safe stopping point and there was a distinct burning smell at that time. had this problem happened on the freeway where they had just been moments before, i hate to think what would have happened to them. my wife called the dealer and was told to have the car towed. the car was taken to the dealer where it has been now for 3 weeks. in that three weeks we have had several different stories on what is wrong with the vehicle. we were told that the manufacturer had been called in and that no one had ever seen this problem before except on our vehicle when it happened the last time. we sent letters to the service advisor, service manager, service director and manufacturer. we feel this vehicle is unsafe and we wanted them to tell us in writing what happened, why it happened, what they did to fix it, why this vehicle has had so many other problems also, and why we should feel safe with our family in this vehicle. we were told by the manufacturer that we would have all of those answers in writing and we would receive a phone call from their customer relations manager. neither thing ever happened. in the last week, the story has changed every 24 hours. and we were even told that someone from the manufacturer came to get the old parts for further diagnosis. they are saying the car is fine and ready to take home. but we have not been provided any answers in writing, they wont tell us who made the decision that the car is fine now, they keep using terms like could not duplicate. now, we don't feel safe putting our family in this car. *jb
