I noticed the vsc trac lights stayed on. the vehicle appears to drive fine for a while, then loses power. dealer could not find any codes and reset it. how it does it all the time mostly about the 2 or 3 day after unhooking the battery. after doing my own research online i discovered that many sequoia owners have experienced the same issue, but toyota has refused to do a recall. this issue with vsc trac is a huge safety concern. through my research i discovered that the vehicle could lose power at any time, and many owners state they hear a grinding noise as the vehicle pulls to the right or left. they recalled the 2003, what about us, a friend had a new computer epu put in at $3000 and did it again in 6 months...toyota knows about this and other problems...we need a recall or have it fixed.

When backing out of garage and applying brakes, the abs motor was heard and then the brake light came on. then the vsc trac, vsc off and abs lights came on. the brake pedal felt mushy so a visit to dealer was made. the concern was addressed with service, and they came back with : test drove car and inspected brakes. found dtc's c1223, c1244, c1247, c1310. provided estimate for updated skid control ecu @ $905 + tax. as the customer, i declined to schedule. then during a past winter storm, backing out of driveway again, the same thing occured. very concerned that this braking system is defected in any wet/snowy/ice weather. i have had to divert to driving my 1998 honda accord in snow instead of the sequoia. i am very concerned driving this sequoia with my kids in car and braking at anytime. i feel an updated software/logic in ecu or an updated skid control ecu is valid enough to say they have a known issue that is 'safety' related, and toyota should buck up covering this as warranty. i have contacted toyota motor sales, usa, inc. and my case is filed at their headquarter office under my name and file #1302120501. they stated their is no customer compliance issued recall/bulletin or warranty available to cover my concern due to its age and mileage.

We have a 2005 toyota sequoia sr5, and brake light continues to come on. i have done searches on google and several people have complained about a similar problem. the light goes off once the car is turned off. the problem comes back on everyday and goes out off when car is turned off. i took it too the dealership and they said it has to do with the computer problem, and needs to be replaced. the question is why is toyota not liable for this, why do we have to wait for someone to die? read more: http://www.justanswer.com/questions/1gwf5-brake-light-continues-to-come-on-2005-toyota-sequoia#ixzz0gz0d6p2j. *tr

We just purchased a used 2005 toyoyta sequoia sr5 4wdon 01/23/2009. almost immediately noticed that the brake warning lights kept coming on intermittently so in the intrest of our safety we took it in to a toyota dealer and got it looked at. the dealership said the skid control ecu was bad and throwing the codes c1223 and c1247 and the cost to replace the ecu is around $2400 dollars after doing a few google searches i find out that this is a very widespread problem and cannot understand why there hasn't been a recall for such an important and exspensive part of the vehicle. *tr

2005 sequoia - this is now my 2nd formal complaint. vehicle has skid control, check engine, brake, ect lights on and multiple times lost braking control in traffic. i took to the dealer 3 times and finally they replaced the ecu ($1000) and assured me that this was the problem. guess what? problem is back after just a couple months. now it is said that the brake booster needs replacing($1000). toyota has recalled this problem on other years but not the 2005. the time is now! this is a very dangerous vehicle for my family with 3 young children, plus it is costing us alot of time and money! toyota.....please try and keep your reputation and help your loyal customers.

Toyota - there is very serious problem with the vbs, skid control, braking system with the toyota 2005 sequoia!!!!! my brakes locked up and i had no control of the car in terms of handling or braking power - lucky for me i drive like a cautious grandmother and was driving slowly stopping at a routine stop. this event happened after months and months of taking the car in. after this serious event i knew that it was not a problem not to be worried about.... toyota replaced the skid control computer - close to 1000. i was told this was a 99% fix. fastforward and the light is on again about a month later....now they claimed the master cylinder was at fault for another near thousand dollars. the repairing dealership serviceman assured me they finally got it and said he would feel very safe for me to travel out of town. i was hesitant, but did leave to go out of town....only to find myself at yet another dealership with the same brake lights coming on.....and then going off when they went in to the service stall. they still have the car as i refused to take it back and they state until the problem recreates itself they are at a loss to date. to me to take the chance to recreate the loss of control of the car....and the braking system is utterly nuts. in short, i will not be driving that car ever again. nor do i want any other person in that potential death trap. if the national highway safety does not step in.....i am telling you....there will be deaths!!!!! i have no question in my mind over this issue!!!!! please contact me and recall this for the life of somebody.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. the contact stated that the abs and traction control warning lights were illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic testing which located the failure at the skid control unit and master cylinder, which would both need replacing. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 40,950. kmj

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. while driving at approximately 45 mph, the emergency brake service light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the traction control computer was replaced. about a year later, the failure reoccurred but was not taken to an authorized dealership. while the emergency brake service light was illuminated, the contact was driving at approximately 15 mph when she applied the brakes but they did not engage and the vehicle would not stop. the contact stated she could hear a grinding noise while the vehicle was attempting to stop. all of the service lights illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership to be inspected. the failure mileage was approximately 43,000. the current mileage was 72,056.

The brake light constantly goes on and off. i notice the light permanently stays on after leaving the freeway when the engine slows down (not even stepping on the brakes yet). then, the light doesn't disappear until after the engine is powered off. we brought the vehicle in when in warranty and stated the problem. the first 3 years, all they did was inspect the brake system but nothing was done. we were verbally given an example what they did for a previous customer (changed all the sensors and the system board) but still no fix. at the last service check, another service rep said, don't worry about it because we checked the brakes and they're okay and this is a common problem. these last two weeks (off and on) at the intersection waiting for the red light to turn green, i notice the brake lights are on and suddenly the engine is trying to accelerate and then it stops. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. the brake lights, check engine light, and vcs track light illuminated intermittently on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately nine times. the dealer replaced the brake booster the first time, checked the emissions and cleared the codes the second time, cleared the code the third time, replaced the fuel filter neck the fourth time, and replaced the brake booster again the fifth time. while driving at an unknown speed, the brakes failed and the dealer replaced the computer skid control. the current mileage was 20,000 and failure mileage was 6,802.

When our driveway is slippery, our 2005 toyota sequoia will not stop on a very slight incline. the front wheels lock up and the rear wheels keep pulling the vehicle until the roadway is reached. toyota claims this is normal and the vehicle needs to be in four wheel drive with the center axle lock on! i don't know what they recommend for a two wheel drive sequoia. i have a video of the vehicle in action if you would like to see it. thank you. *nm

Vsc, abs, brake lights flashing and abs light stayed on two of the times while other lights went off this happened 4 -5 times making the car unable to drive. also i went sliding through a stop sign unable to brake. lost total control of vehicle while trying to stop. 3) had it towed to dealer in moline, illinois. they could not find a problem. two weeks later, it happened again and i had it towed to dealer again in moline, illinois and they still have the vehicle. they are having trouble diagnosing the problem. they have replaced a computer in front thus far. note: the service rep. is working on this problem diligently. however, this is a serious problem and a major safety issue. it has happened to hundreds of toyota sequoia owners, therefore, i am speaking out in hopes you will take notice in efforts to correct this problem and avoid killing innocent people. *nm

While entering a busy intersection my wife applied the brakes to avoid a collision, and they did not properly respond and dashboard warning lings came on. the toyota dealership diagnosed the problem as a defect in the car's computer system, stating the computer provided false signals to the brakes.*ak
