Pushed switch for power rear tailgate window, window assembly broke and window fell down into door. upon examination, all components - regulator assembly and all connecting parts were severely corroded which led to failure. less than 12 months later, rear tailgate outside handle broke; again under examination the entire interior latch assembly was severely corroded which caused failure. this in my opinion is a design or assembly defect. water is not supposed to be leaking into the interior of the tailgate. from the extent of corrosion, this condition had been occurring for many years - most likely in my opinion immediately from the time that we acquired the vehicle new. the failure, while caused from a defect from the beginning of vehicle life, manifested itself after the vehicle warranty period and toyota is refusing to address. from some online research, i have found this to be a common problem.

Almost every time i go over a bump or dip at 2-3 mph the traction control light comes up, the vehicle slows down and i am unable to accelerate for a few seconds, then all comes back to normal. it happens every day and a few times i nearly got in the accident due to unexpected slow down.

He rear door latch failed, making the door inoperable. use of the door for entry and exit was impossible, creating a safety hazard. repair of this latch failure is expensive ($400 - $700) and inconvenient. the design of the part and the material used (plastic) appears to be at fault. a heavier duty metal part is now available from after market parts dealers. the problem appears to be common and widespread judging from a discussion with a local toyota dealer service center and judging from the number of complaints and information on the internet.

Power brakes quit working while driving. approx 8 times, when coming to a stop or backing out of a parking space, the power brakes go out. sometimes, codes appear on the dash and sometimes they don't. i usually have to restart the car to get it to work again. i have taken it in to the dealership twice and they can't find anything wrong.

I have a 2006 toyota sequoia. the vsc & trac lights as well as the brake light and the tire pressure light started coming on in the morning, usually when cold. not sure exactly when this started but it has been happening for years now. the lights usually go off when the engine is shut off and usually the only time it is an issue is when the weather gets the slightest bit cool. after researching this issue online, i am seeing that this appears to be a very common problem and apparently there have been some brake related issues (vehicle not braking properly) also associated with these lights, although there has not been a recall to date.
