Re: vsc trac, vsc off, brake, abs lights... all on, all at once. how do we add our name to the complaint? i have a 2003 . vsc & trac lights started coming on around 112800 k. i found out many people has the same issues and same problem with toyota sequoia. the lights continued to come on constantly i took it to the dealer & they said it needed 2 computers-$2700. i told them the problem was documented and asked them to contact toyota but to no avail. i hope nhtsa would do something about it. *tr

Re: nhtsa recall # 10v176000 i took the vehicle to the dealer for this recall but the same lights stayed on after the dealer suppose to have fixed the problem. i inquired this with the service advisor and he told me that toyota will not replace the ecu since it does not effect the performance of the vehicle. i discussed this issue with several mechanics and they all agreed that toyota needs to replace the defected chip. after reaching online, i came across this government website. under nhtsa recall campaign number: 10v176000, it clearly stated that if the reflash cannot be completed on a particular vehicle, the ecu will be replaced with a new one. i need your help to have toyota to replace the defected ecu in my vehicle which was not done under the recall. *tr

I just purchased a used 2003 toyota sequoia a month ago from the dealer. although, the vehicle comes under no warranty, i would like to file a defect that has been reported by other 2003 toyota sequoia owners. the problem - vsc trac light on, off, brake light , engine light stayed on. i took my vehicle to the dealership and was told that they changed the air/fue; sensor for the check engine light and the vsc trac light were cleared. however, driving the vehicle back home, vsc trac light on/off and brake light came on steady. i went on line to researched the cause and defect and found out that there are quite a few owners experiencing the problem i have. please investigate and hoping to resolve this malfunction. thanks.

Tl- the contact owns a 2003 toyota sequoia. the contact noticed that the vsc/traction control warning light would illuminate when the vehicle would vibrate and he would lose control of the vehicle. also, the brake system would become inoperable. the dealer or manufacturer had not been notified nor was the vehicle inspected or repaired. the current and failure mileages were 105,000. the vin was unavailable. bw

There were no particular events leading up to the failure of our toyota sequoia 's 'yaw sensor'. the car was being driven in normal conditions when the vcs and abs warning lights came on and the vehicle seemed to shake/shift when this happened. fortunately, there was no injury or incident other than needing to take the vehicle into the shot to have the issue diagnosed and repairs completed. repair required the installation of a new yaw sensor to be installed by the dealership. the old parts have been requested from the dealer for us to retain.

In december 2010 we took our toyota sequoia 2003 to fix the defects mentioned in the ea09006 nhtsa action number vicksburg toyota dealership in vicksburg, ms. at the moment the dealership informed us that the ecu could not reflash. however, the ecu was not replaced as specified in the recall. a week ago, once again, the vsc ecu lights turned on. again we took the car to the dealership and have been told that the ecu is completely damaged and i have to incur an expense of $ 650 to replace the unit. i've been trying to talk with toyota, however, they have indicated to me that the new problem has nothing to do with the recall 1. toyota evaded their responsibility to change the unit so that the problem was never corrected recall 2. if the recall required the unit was replaced by a new one could not reflash the unit. toyota is putting the safety of my family and those close to our vehicle drivers when driven 3. we hope that the nhtsa can protect our lives and those who face these problems of lack of accountability of toyota and its dealers

I have owned this vehicle for only 10months....vsc trac, vsc off has occurred a few times including twice in the last 10 days. in addition, the first time the vsc lights came on the brake light was also on. it seems that when the vehicles vsc trac and vsc off lights come on, they can be reset temporarily by turning vehicle off and then back on. my first phone call last may to toyota i was told that my vehicle was a part of the recall. i received nothing in the mail, so i call back in july after i had my first occurrence with the vsc problem. they then told me that my vehicle did not qualify for the recall. this is obviously frustrating for many 2003 owners that are not a part of the recall who are having the same problems as those that do qualify for the recall. if my dash lights are on, is my vehicle safe? complaints all over the internet with same issues i am having. i was a lifelong toyota man, but not anymore because they refuse to recall all of these 2003 sequoias with the same problem.

The vehicle , while starting and pulling out onto the road, would seem to try to take over and pulsate and apply the brakes. very dangerous! i paid for computer analysis to be done, which verified the c1231 abs control system fault, but toyota does not want to reimburse me for my prior expenses due to their defect. frustrating!

Toyota sequoia sr5 2003. problem with trac/vsc and abs system are always lite up on the dashboard. this has been serviced by the dealer several months after i purchased the vehicle and several years after that. continues to be a problem, it always is temporarily fixed by dealer and then reappears at a later date.

Electronic stability control system is too sensative. vehicle will not accellerate as the escs will acitvate and apply brakes not allowing vehicle to accellerate normally by applling brakes and cutting power to the engine.

2003 toyota sequoia - the vsc, trac and brake light all illuminated with a grinding sound coming from under the car. the car shuddered to a stop during acceleration. barely avoided an accident by quickly pulling the car over. just checked with toyota and my car is not included in the recall for this identical problem. please explain your reasoning behind not including all sequoia's with this dangerous problem.

2003 sequoia : 1. vsc and engine lights went on three times, have car in service dept, but no root cause has been identified. 2. dealer charged for each repaired time , serveral parts have been replaced but the same porblem reappeared after few months.

I own a 2003 toyota sequoia and have problems with the engine light going off and on due to the vsc/abs trac light related to the skid control computer since i bought it brand new. now the light stays on and it's a safety issue now that it is out of warranty. i only have 56,000 miles on my car. during an internet search i find that multiple owners have had the same problem and have either been in accidents or almost in an accident. there should be a recall on this problem due to it safety issue. it is also very costly and the toyota company doesn't seem to care. i have not been in an accident yet and hope i never will but it is safety concern

Brake lights on toyota sequoia comes on without warning, stays on till iginition is turned off. however, brakes seem to work fine, but vehicle slows when making a turn, including minor turne at low speed and the roll over light comes on, with the wheels hardly turning. vehicle is 2003 but less than 50, 000 miles (approx. 48 689).

I was driving to interstate 10 going to san antonio, texas and make an exit and then turn left and turn left going back to interstate 10 east bound. my tires skid at the rough road (little stones) and my toyota sequoia sr5 2003 lost control and very hard to stabilize for about 5 to 10 seconds. i just hold the steering and did not pull right or left, and did not step on the brake until it was stabilized. i did not report it to the dealer, thinking the track off system was off. we were lucky that no other vehicles on my side and at the rear. probably it was april 2009. now i am having problem with the track off system and abs system lights on the dashboard. i replaced the 4 tires and disk pads (rear and front) last october 2009. maybe that is one of the reason. i brought it to the dealer and the problem was the skid control system and the yaw rate sensor which will cost me around $1,600.00. the code was 1223 and 1244. i did not go ahead for the repairs since i can not believe for the diagnosis of the car. i barely used this car with 42,000 plus miles on it. besides i don't have enough money for the repair. *tr

2003 toyota sequoia vsc light (vehicle stability control) and anti skid brakes light illuminate. first intermittently now on all the time. toyota dealer does not seem to have expertise to scientifically determine the problem. toyota and dealer seem to be indifferent and also will not honor extended warranty. been back to dealership on multiple occasions. 2003 sr5 model, garaged since purchase in 2003, lightly driven with 30652 miles on the vehicle. no accident involved. after a careful review of other owners identical complaints this vehicle is unsafe to drive. design flaw or engineering defect with the stability control system or anti lock brake system. reporting issue to go on record in the event a recall does get issued. *tr
