Airbag light indicator in the dash started blinking until now. from what i have read, some airbags may not deploy in the event of an accident due to this, thus, a safety issue. i have read in the forums that this is a common problem for the type/model of my minivan. my minivan is already out of the warranty and personally think that there should be a recall for this issue. if fear for the safety of my family whenever we use this minivan.

Air bag light turned on at 78,080 miles. took it to dealer and was told the passenger side air bag and floor harness needed replacement. repair was quoted at around $1500.00. after discussions with dealer and trying to get an explanation as to why an air bag would need replacement with just normal operation of the vehicle, my dealer was able to get the parts covered by toyota and i paid for labor $861.00. in january 2013, the air bag light turned on again at 84,132 miles. took it to the dealer and was told the driver side air bag needed replacement and the harness could be fixed. my dealership offered me the same deal as toyota would pay for the parts and me the labor $796.00. i had my car fixed because i did not want to compromise my and my family safety but had every intention by then to file a complaint with toyota which i did on january 24, 2013. i told them i should not be responsible for any of the costs of the repairs; faulty air bags should be the responsibility of the manufacturer. i also told them i did not understand why there was no recall on those air bags after everything i read online. toyota researched my case, talked with my dealership and after 3-4 conversations in about 1 week period, my claim was denied. they took no responsibility, reminded me that they had already provided the parts (because i was a good customer at my dealership) and offered me $500.00 towards my next car purchase should i be in the market for a new car in the next one to two years! funny!! as there will never be another toyota in my driveway. *tr

The airbag light went on and blinking. took the car to the dealer and was told it cost $852 to fix the wire harness issue. i checked on line and realized there are many complaints on this same issue. it is a common safety issue and should be taken care by toyota. by the way, the same airbag light was on in 2008 and the airbag sensor was recalibrated by the dealership under new car warranty. i thought they replaced the airbag as they told me because it took more than one week to get my van back. but when i looked into this now, the repaire was actually recalibrate airbag sensor

At 68000 miles, the srs light on my 2006 toyota sienna came on. it went off for about 2 hours then came back on. after the second time that it came on, i brought it to the dealer and they said that they diagnosed the problem as the connectors being bad and that the air bag had gone bad. there are thousands of complaints online about this exact same problem and model on both driver and passenger sides, yet toyota has not made a single recall for these problems with the airbags. what will it take for us drivers concerned about the safety of our children to get a recall for these faulty wirings and airbags? *tr

Upon starting the vehicle, the srs warning light kept flashing. the dealer where the vehicle was purchased indicated that the vehicle needed to be brought in for an immediate inspection. after the inspection, the dealership determined that the wiring for the passenger side airbag had a short and needed to be replaced. cost for the repairs was estimated at $1,500. the dealership's service manager informed me that toyota would carry the cost of the repairs under warranty, even though the warranty on the vehicle expired at 60,000 miles. while the dealership's handling of this incident is certainly appreciated, it also made me suspicious. a quick google search showed various results indicating that an airbag issue in the 2006 toyota sienna is not an isolated incident. i would like to report this issue to the nhtsa for further investigation and a possible nationwide recall. airbag wiring should not need to be replaced with this sort of low mileage. thank you. *tr

The srs light began to blink. i took the van to the dealership to diagnose the problem. they said it was due to an open air bag in the front passenger seat which would cost $2000 to repair. i have since searched the internet to find several other complaints about the same problem. the yellow harness under the seat could possibly be the problem. if this wire is wiggled, the light goes off for a period of time. however, it returns later. i feel like srs safety should be covered for the lifetime of the vehicle unless the vehicle has been in an accident and they deploy (as they should unless there is a faulty mechanism such as mine has). toyota should do their part to keep customers safe, especially after we have spent thousands on a vehicle in hopes of having a safe vehicle to drive. *tr

The srs light started blinking on when driving approximately 65 mph. the light remained blinking for a few days then the blinking stopped. the blinking began again after a week. i took the vehicle in to a toyota dealer who diagnosed the problem. they said that toyota has a bulletin out on it: t-sb-0162-10 srs light on - b0111/b0116 - open side squib circuit the repair at the dealer was quoted at $3682.22. i felt this was unreasonable that toyota knew about this safety issue and others have had the same problem but it was not deemed a recall. i contacted toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and spoke with a representative. i voiced my concern and they made a case number: 1203051801. they admitted that there was a bulletin out on the issue but that it was not a recall. i was very upset because we did not cause this defect and it puts our family of 5 at great risk! we cannot afford to have this defect fixed at this time and feel that toyota should own up to this problem that is affecting many and putting family's at great risk! we purchased the van new with working air bags - they have never be deployed, and we have never done anything to access or modify their workability so this should not be our problem. highway safety requires air bags in all vehicles and should hold toyota accountable for this defect.

The front driver airbag light showed up on the dashboard and began to blink about 2 weeks ago. took the van into a toyota dealer to have it checked out. sensors need to be replaced for $700! after researching on the internet, it appears that the 2006 toyota siennas has had numerous complaints for the airbag defects. i'm thinking toyota needs to be responsible for this safety defect and issue a recall for the airbags to be repaired/replaced. many consumers are driving the 2006 siennas with faulty airbags since it is too expensive to fix which is a safety issue that someone needs to be concerned about and address with toyota!

My wife and i got into our van on the 19 of may and when we started the van the airbag light came on. when i took it to the toyota garage i was told i would need a new passenger airbag and two wiring harnesses for the van at a cost of $1200. i felt this was a safety defect from toyota and have contacted toyota customer relations on several occasions to remedy the problem. as of yet it has not been resolved and is under review according to the last email i received from them. i have seen numerous complaints on the web about this same airbag issue and i as well as other customers feels that this is a defect that toyota should fix before people are killed due to faulty airbags.

Yet another airbag /srs warning light fault to report on the sienna 2006. code detected is b0116. airbag wiring harness has to be replaced at a cost of $3000. this is not wear and tear it is clearly a manufacturing defect affecting thousands of this model of van. toyota must accept responsibility for this before there is a fatality caused by airbags not activating.
06/03/201299950
While driving the car, i noted that the air bag warning light (man sitting with balloon) was on - do not exactly know at what mileage it started, but the mileage was 99,950 when i noted the light. have noted this to be a common problem on this vehicle (make, model, year) as there are many many complaints about this problem. will be contacting a local toyota dealer for diagnosis and repair, but am afraid i may have to pay a lot of money for this repair after i research this problem in detail.

The air bag light warning of my 2006 sienna (only 45,000 miles) started blinking and didn't stop. according to dealer who run a diagostic (open circuit b0111 open squib) the circuit wiring harness needed to be replaced. total cost over $2,000. i used my insurance and had it fixed. the car stayed in the dealer for a whole month since according to them the part was being ordered directly from toyota and it was comming from japan. the problem reocurred the very next day after i took the car from the dealer after fixed. took it back to the dealer and was informed that according to toyota service bulletin a kit needs to be installed at the harness located under the front passenger seat and that the front passenger air bag needs to be replaced. the total cost will be another $1,000. i was advised to contact toyota customer service to learn what toyota could do since this is a safety issue caused by a faulty electrical component from manufacturing. i don't believe my insurance will cover for this extra cost. checking online i noticed that hundreds of other 2006 siennas are having the same issue. i believe toyota should issue a recall on this particular model and fix it. i was a happy and satisfied toyota customer until now and depending on the outcome of my call to toyota i might not consider toyota in my next car purchase, unfortunately.

We purchased the van used in 2009 with 12000 miles on it and made our purchase decision based on the reputation for quality and safety that toyota had at the time. in july 2009 the srs warning light began to illuminate. according to the dealer the air bag wiring harness and system was known to have issues. luckily the dealer convinced toyota usa to cover the repair. in november 2011 the light again came on and did its blinking thing. currently we have a little over 48000 miles on the van and the dealer said that because we are past warranty that it won't be covered. a private mechanic tested the system and determined the airbags are not functioning and that toyota has published a bulletin acknowledging the issue but refuses to repair this safety concern. when the light is blinking or on, the airbags will not deploy, putting everyone inside at risk. a van with 48000 miles should not have to have the airbags replaced twice. looking at online forums there seem to be hundreds if not thousands of other sienna owners experiencing the same problems and yet toyota still refuses to recall the product or offer a reasonable repair. i am afraid that it will take a traffic collision resulting in a death or multiple deaths to push toyota to fix this systemic problem. a second concern which seems to be problematic with our van as well as others is the welds within the driver door breaking. the vehicle has not been in an accident nor any other major incident to cause them to break. according to the private mechanic, it is a manufactoring issue and that the weld should be one of the strongest parts of the vehicle and shouldn't break.

I own a 2006 toyota sienna which started displaying an airbag warning light at about 90,000 miles. i had an independent airbag technician run diagnostics. he found a history of increased resistance in the connector under the drivers seat. he stated that he had seen this in the driver and front passenger connections of many 2006 siennas. i found online that this is a widespread problem of a critical safety system for which toyota is not taking responsibility. owners are paying thousands of dollars for repairs only to have it fail again which suggests that toyota has no idea as to the root of the problem. hopefully, i have solved my problem by applying penetrox (an anti corrosive zinc paste for electrical connections) to the connectors under both front seats and connecting and disconnecting each about 25 times to clean the contacts. the fix has lasted 2 months so far.

Purchased vehicle used in august 2011 with approximately 52,000 miles. upon starting vehicle in late december 2011 (approximately 56,000), air bag warning light began to blink. the next day, the light did not blink and appeared unlit (normal). the third day, the light began to blink again and has not stopped. there was no unusual bumping or impact that could have caused the light to illuminate. i took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis. dealer told me that the airbag wires had been tampered with - apparently by the previous owner (vehicle has prior salvage title, but has been repaired, inspected, and approved for service again). the deal quoted $2,500 - $3,000 to replace faulty wiring harness. i declined the service in the immediate, to consider the safety and cost repercussions. although i declined service, the air bag light ceased blinking - even though the vehicle was not repaired. additional research has revealed hundreds, if not thousands of 2006 toyota sienna owners who have had a nearly identical experience. there are tsbs related to this issue. a recall seems necessary for this important safety issue related to an apparent faulty air bag wiring system.

The airbag warning light on my toyota sienna illuminated when the car had about 60,000 miles on it, well before the expiration of toyota's extended warranty. two local dealerships told me that it was a wiring harness problem and would cost somewhere between $2000 and $3000 to fix, as it was not covered by the warranty. fortunately, the light went off after a short time. now with about 90,000 miles on the car, it has come back on. a quick internet search has revealed literally hundreds of complaints of this same failure, many of which are occurring with very few miles on the car. i cannot imagine why toyota has not issued a safety recall. beyond that, i cannot fathom why nhtsa hasn't yet demanded one. this is clearly a defective design and toyota is not being held accountable for it. please do something about this. just do an internet search for 2006 sienna airbag complaint. you will be shocked at the number and consistency of complaints about this problem.

Sienna 200-2006 has three major problems: 1) the door check mount cracks (so as for the welded parts inside the door to crack from each other by itself). 2) from time to time the airbag light keep blinking, and upon investigation, there is a problem with the airbag socket that can disconnect anytime upon changing the position of the driver seat. 3) the paint of the body fades fast (as for a 6 years old garage kept car the paint to fade, is something unique).

The air bag warning light came on. i took the vehicle into the dealership to have it looked at. the result was that the wiring harness for the seat sensor on the passenger side has corroded creating an open circuit. they gave me an estimate to replace the wiring harness and air bag (which has been apparently damaged due to the corroded harness) to a total of $3,000. wiring harnesses do no

Airbag warning light appeared on dashboard suddenly. dealership ran diagnostics and said that a loose connection below the car seat could be the reason, as that fixed the warning light issue. car's extended warranty expires in about 8months, and reading the most complaints on this mini-van being airbag issue, i am worried that the actual error (requiring replacement of the whole system $2k-$3k+ that others are paying) would appear right after my warranty expires. toyota should really consider this as a re-call, or, extend the warranty of the airbag systems to 10yrs (regardless of mileage) to provide the security to 2006 sienna owners.

Air bag light on instrument panel flashes on and off. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed a defective air bag sensor, which needs to be replaced along with the air bag and airbag harness under the driver's seat since the air bag would not deploy in the event of a crash, which could result in serious injury or death. vehicle has only 47000miles on it but since it is over 5years it is not covered under warranty. this malfunction is not the result of any accident or bump, it started on its own. this issue has been reported on numerous vehicles and for no apparent reason. this is a serious defect in the srs and a critical safety issue. it is in fact a clear violation of basic federal safety standards that should be taken care by toyota.

My 2006 toyota sienna had to have 3 airbag components replaced in the first 17 months because of failure of the sensor, ecu and airbag assembly. these were replaced under warranty. now that the car is 5 years and 1 month old the other front airbag assembly malfunctioned and toyota has refused to pay to repair it. the warranty was for 5 years and 50,000 miles. i now have no functioning airbags because when 1 airbag does not work the computer turns all of them off.

Air bag light on instrument panel flashes on and off; took it to the dealer, which determined was a defective air bag sensor, which needs to be replaced along with the air bag and airbag harness under the driver's seat. total estimate for the pair including labor: $3000.

Air bag light would sometimes come on and stay on, but usually only for a day or two. in november 2011 the light came back on and stayed on for several days. we just took the van to leith toyota in raleigh, nc for a diagnostic and said they found historical codes for the front left passenger air bag and current codes for the front driver air bag. they said the only fix is to replace the entire air bag assembly for $3000 (per side). the van is worth maybe $12,000 and now we are told we have to spend a total of $6,000 for both sides to completely fix the problem. turns out the 2006 toyota sienna has hundreds of complaints filed at various locations for the same air bag issue. toyota has a tsb out for the issue and some people has talked about getting a redesignd wiring harness to correct the issue from toyota, but no recall. this is a serious defect in the srs that should be covered by toyota. a recall should be issued for this problem. this system should not just break down over a few years of life nor cost so much money to fix. the cost to fix the problem is more than what most people can afford.

I bought a toyota sienna 2006 certified used vehicle last dec. 09, 2010. after driving for just less than 4 months i noticed that the srs light started to blink while driving to work. i informed my dealer 4 days later through email. but the lights went off a day after before i came down to his place and had been working normally for about 7 months. then the issue came back again, brought it down to south coast toyota and was told that code: b0116 driver side airbag and wiring loom need to be replaced for $3426. toyota was informed but said it was not covered by warranty. i am severely disappointed as the reason i bought a certified used car and pay the price was the assurance that i will not get a lemon. but i was wrong and toyota's assurance on quality of certified used car is purely crap.

The air bag warning light illuminated, and continued to flash. i took the van to the local toyota dealership the next business day, as a faulty safety system was concerning. the service department handed me a $3,000 estimate to replace a faulty wiring harness and air bag assembly, along with the news that the platinum extended warranty i purchased would not cover the repair. it seemed odd for a critical safety system to fail while the vehicle is relatively young, so i checked online. one site alone showed 85 owners of 2006 siennas with this same problem. from a reliability perspective, a critical safety system should last longer than this. this is especially true when repair of the system is prohibitively expensive. the items affected were a floor wire harness and side air bag assembly, part numbers 82161-08330 and 73920-ae031.

We have owned '06 sienna for many years and have enjoyed the comfort and safety that it provides but we have been faced with an unusual problem with srs airbag system that seems to be a major safety issue. upon investigating the issue online, this appears to be a very common and a wide-spread problem. == the vehicle srs warning light comes on and keeps blinking when vehicle is first turned on. it remains on or blinking entire time the vehicle is driven. this happens for no apparent reason or fault of the driver and there is no explanation anywhere as to why this happens. once this fault occurs, the vehicle is no longer safe to drive. toyota dealers have diagnosed this issue with dtc b0111/0116 and verified this to be a warning light indicating a problem with airbag system. they have also confirmed that the airbags will not deploy in the event of an accident. once diagnosed with this problem, majority of times the customers are faced with hundreds or thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expense for the repairs. the repair seems to be anywhere from bad connector for srs sensor to bad wiring harness to complete replacement of front/side airbag system. == these vehicles clearly violate basic federal safety standards 201, 202, 203, 208 & 214. if this issue has been reported on numerous vehicles and if fault occurs for no apparent reason then there is obviously a defect in the material or the way this airbag safety is designed. toyota has a service bulletins out for this issue but no recall. this is unacceptable by any vehicle safety standards. this issue needs to be investigated and the vehicles recalled by toyota as a defective or non-functioning airbag system is a major safety defect and could result in serious injury or death.

I wanted to report that my 2006 sienna with 97,070 miles came up with a b011 code for the front passanger airbag and wire harness. to my total shock i was quoted 2,900 to fix the problem at my local dealership. after further investigation i have found that this seems to be a reoccuring problem with this make and model. i called the customer service area of toyota and had a non commital response from them. the standard canned answer. that there was no recall on this issue. i would have further expected that with the past safety issues toyota had that would have looked into this.
09/11/201163000
Our srs warning light came on during a road trip at approximately 63,000. the dealership stated that this code b011, is the right front airbag and the wiring harness needs to be replaced at a cost of $2400 and about 3 days of labor. of course our extended warranty does not cover this, either. it is possible that the air bag will not deploy if we are in an accident. toyota customer service only documented my complaint, and would not tell me if there is any investigation related to this issue since each case is confidential. i see multiple complaints related to this exact same issue. how many complaints does it take before toyota is forced to do something about it. seems like this has got to be a manufacturing defect. we have never been in an accident. our van is kept in a garage and i feel we've taken good care of it. i really wanted this vehicle to last for many more years, but this is very concerning to me and i question we will ever purchase another toyota, given their poor publicity lately.

The airbag indicator light came on in my 2006 toyota sienna. i went on line to see what it could possibly be. to my surprise i read that there have been numerous complaints about this same issue. apparently there is a problem with the airbag that requires repair that also involves the wiring harness. the fault code is b0111. there is a service bulletin (tsb 0162-10) regarding this problem. the frustating part for me and many of the other 2006 sienna owners who have filed complaints is that this issue happens just after the toyota restraint system warranty expires at either 60 months or 60k miles. my 60 months expired exactly 16 days before the light came on and now toyota is telling me that my warranty is expired and it may not be covered. the cost of the repair is between $2000 and $3000. this problem renders the airbags useless. i don't understand how this is an ongoing problem for 2006 toyota sienna owners and a safety recall has not been imposed. this seems like a systematic failure built into the system to generate repairs and revenue. something needs to be done about this!

In august 2011, the airbag indicator light came on in our 2006 toyota sienna. i took the vehicle to a toyota dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that the following error code was reported: b0111 (open in side squib - rh). i was advised to replace the right side wiring harness and passenger front seat air bag. total repair cost was quoted at $2,200. i was advised that until the problem is fixed that none of the airbags would deploy. a check online showed that this is a common failing of the 2006 toyota sienna. there were numerous complaints from other vehicle owners. the common theme seemed to be that the failure occurred after 60,000 miles. my service technician agreed with me that this wiring harness failure is not the result of normal vehicle wear and tear. this failure represents a manufacturing / design defect. the toyota representatives that i spoke with offered no assistance with the repair cost. they advised that a recall had not been issued, and the vehicle was out of warranty, therefore they had no obligation or willingness to assist. toyota is aware that this is major safety issue with their vehicles, but they have failed to address it. no doubt the financial cost of a recall is a factor in their decision.

Airbag light warning light was flashing, started just after 60k mi. went to dealer to have diagnosed. b0111, b0116 codes. computer at dealer states that driver's side wiring squib is defective and needs to be replaced. seems to be a known issue because repair instructions were available without taking apart my vehicle. warranty on this part was extended to 60k, but dealer will not cover repair at 61k. looking into it further, dealership chose not to cover because my vehicle had not been serviced at that dealership (35 miles from my home and over a mountain pass). only owned vehicle for a year. quoted price of $2600 to repair. in the meantime, entire airbag system on vehicle is disabled. part is back-ordered, dealer did not have a sense of when it would be available.

The airbag warning light lit and did not dissappear for about 3 days. two days later the light appeared again and stayed on. the vehicle was taken in to a toyota dealer who said that the airbag sensor and airbag were faulty. the vehicle was just a month over 5 years and only had 45000 miles on it! from researching the internet this seems to be an issue for this make and model.
09/12/201156000
Air bag light began flashing in my van. checked manual and was advised to take immediately to dealer for service. dealership pulled a b0111 code from the van. we were advised it would be approx $4700 for replacing the sensor in the passenger seat air bag and wiring harness. neither item is covered under warranty and i was recommended by the dealership to contact my private insurance company to cover the item. private insurance will not cover the issue due to no damage to the vehicle. our van has 56000 miles and has never been in an accident (thank goodness) or been damaged due to flood, fire, or anything else. my wife was also told of a tsb by the dealer out on air bags for toyota, but our sienna did not meet the classification of the tsb. after researching the problem we were told the high costs were due to extensive labor for removing the front end of the car in order to replace the harness. obviously due to number of complaints on this issue there is a major problem with this harness. the harness seems to be failing at an alarming rate and all shortly after 50000 miles. after all the other problems toyota had with safety issues it would seem that this would be an issue they would address, but no one at toyota is giving it much attention.

Van presented a flashing srs light that remained flashing during operation. vehicle manual recommendation was to take to dealer. took vehicle to dealer 9/6/2011. was informed that code b0111 was pulled during analysis. vehicle needs driver side airbag replaced and floor wire. estimated cost $2573.49. without repair, airbags are inoperable. toyota issued a tsb (el001-08) february 27, 2008; however, the tsb did not extend warranty coverage for this failure. no recall has been issued. this is an apparent defect due to the numerous complaints found online.

Airbag light is on so i had my van looked at, at the dealership and i was told i need a new passanger airbag and harness. its not under warranty because i have to many miles on my vehicle. which the mileage has nothing to do with the airbags. its a saftey issue and should be a recall. i've never been in an accident so i don't understand how the airbags could go bad. i also had another mechanic look at my van and he told me that a tbs# came up which means that more than 200,000 people have had the same issue.

Air bag light flashing since car was new. dealer found no codes in system and turned light off, said nothing was wrong. light continued to come on for a month or so and then go off, then repeat the process of coming on and off, for the next few years. now dealer says it needs a new air bag for $4,000

Airbag lights starting flashing on an intermittent basis early in the life of the vehicle. i brought the vehicle in for service under warranty. repairs were attempted, but the airbag light still would flash intermittently (but often for short periods, say one or two days). in july, 2011, the flashing of the airbag lights went from intermittent to permanent. dealer quoted a repair estimate in excess of $4,000 and stated the vehicle was no longer in warranty. but the failure of the airbag component(s) has been intermittently evident (through the indicator light) from very early in the life of the vehicle. warranty repair attempt was unsuccessful, and intermittent of warning light made it impossible to obtain effective service.

I recently bought a 2006 toyota sienna. i hauled my daughter's belongings to college and after we unloaded the van the airbag light came on. i brought it to the dealer since it was a 2006 with 40000 miles on it i thought it would be covered, however since the car was put into service 11/05 it was not covered. they said they had to replace the airbag ans wiring harness for $2500.00. after researching your website i realized there were a total of 102 airbag complaints for that year while all other years combined there were 80 (average 6/model year). i did contact the customer service manager and am waiting for a reply to see what they will cover before i have the repairs. the manager did say there was a service bulletin and does not know if a recall will happen in the future.

Air bag light is continually on. researching the internet we have found that many other 2006 toyota sienna's have the same problem and i feel that it is a safety hazard that toyota should have recalled before now....we have found that in most cases it will cost thousands of dollars to get it repaired.as senior citizens, we cannot come up with that kind of money...has a recall been issued , or ,is an investigation into this matter been done?

2006 toyota sienna air bag light came on and took the car for 60,000 service mentainance at 62,000 and the dealer said passenger side wire has to rewire and quote me 2400 to fix. it it is a wire harness failure, it is a manufacture defect and toyota has to recall and fix the problem. this is a major safety issue and nhtsa has to follow up the complaints about this.

Immediately after warranty work on driver side door, the airbag warning light came on (on the way home from dealer). dealer claimed that there was no connection between their repair work and the airbag problem. they replaced the driver side airbag for total cost of $740.00. the warning light went out and stayed out for a few months. when it came back on the dealer said the wiring harness also needed to be replaced at cost of at a cost of $2,250. almost $3,000 for the all the repairs. the dealer cannot explain why the part would fail, or why they replaced the airbag since it did not solve the problem. failure occurred within the 60 months of the warranty but over the 60,000 miles. dealer refuses to pay for any of the repairs. this vehicle has not been in any accident.

My air bag light blinks continuously. i have researched this topic on-line and have found that when this light blinks, it means the air bags will not deploy correctly in the event of an accident. there are hundreds if not thousands of complaints about the airbag wiring harness being defective, either under the passenger seat or drivers seat. currently there are no recalls by toyota to address this issue. this is a safety issue that needs to be rectified. it seems that while the 2006 model year sienna is the primary vehicle with the problem, there are also some 2005, and 2007 model years with the same problem. the dealer wants $2000+ to fix this problem. there are stories of back orders on this part being up to 4 months. toyota knows there is a problem, but now needs to step up to the plate and do a recall to fix this problem. i don't like driving a family vehicle that is supposed to be safe, but is not because of this fault in the airbag system. very frustrating.

We have a 2006 toyota sienna, and the srs airbag light just began blinking. took it to the dealership and they said the entire wiring harness needs to be replaced because of a faulty wire, and none of the airbags would deploy in the case of an accident. they want $3000 to replace. we are not going to fix until we call toyota to find out if they plan on issuing a recall on this defect.

My 2006 toyota sienna with 66,000 miles on it has a faulty driver side air bag and harness. toyota wants $3,325.00 to fix.

2006 toyota sienna had flashing airbag light on dash in 2009 at 48k miles. bad sensor was discovered by toyota dealer service dept and repaired under warranty. 2 years later and 88k miles, airbag light flashing again and toyota dealer service dept diagnoses an open circuit and cause being a faulty wiring harness for the airbag system. estimated cost $1800 since vehicle is 6 months past warranty. i contacted toyota for posible appeal to cover cost of repair of safety system. have not heard back from toyota if they will cover the cost of the repair.

Air bag warning light flashes. taken the car in twice already to fix it. went on again last week. now i am out of warranty.... hope they will fix it again since it is an ongoing problem. it is scary to drive the car if you think the air bag may go off at any time ! toyota needs to tell the dealership how to fix this problem! isn't replacing the part two times enough already?? my car has 80k miles on it.

2006 toyota sienna (approx. 89,000 miles) suddenly had flashing airbag light come on april 25, 2011. vehile is single owner, personal use. never involved in any accidents. took to dealer, was told that air bag harness and front airbag wiring was bad, entire system would need replaced for about $2,400. spoke with toyota corporate office, they offered to by for 50% of repair. had service manager at dealership contact district service parts manager to appeal for additional funding from toyota, again was told that only 50% of cost would be covered by toyota. this issue is related to faulty wiring/parts and not to milage, which is what i am repeatedly told is the reason the repair is not covered (out of 5 year/60,000 mile warrenty window).

My wife started the car and the air bag light started flashing. so we looked up in the owner's manual and it said to bring the vehicle in asap because the air bags could deploy on their own. we took vehicle to miller toyota in manassas, va and they repaired the vehicle by replacing 2 passenger side air bags and the harness at a cost of $2353.70 to us. srs warning light continued flashing after start up. dealer confirmed error code b0111. passengers air bag and harness needs replaced. these items are covered with updated parts in a toyota tsb 0162-10, dated 02/27/2008, covering sienna model years 2004 through 2008. over one hundred similar occurrences are found on various safety related and owner based internet sites. this is an obvious oem defect of a critical vehicle system that toyota has been aware of for some time now.

Airbag srs light began illuminating without any prior event. van is currently at dealer awaiting service, harness wiring parts are on backorder. dealer advises that toyota is really stepping up on this and has offered to pay for half the cost of the repairs = $1200

The air bag light began flashing a couple of month ago. i took the van to the dealer who told me there were two error codes and that since they weren't sure exactly what was wrong, the entire system would have to be replaced. total: $4400 and change. the rep also told me he'd only heard of this happening once before, and his recommendation was that i simply trade it in and buy a new toyota (of course). i have 8 payments left. it only has 83k miles and is five years old. the complaints about the 2006 sienna air bags far outnumber the other problems with this van.

Approximately 2 weeks before scheduled service, air bag light came on and remained lit. after normal maintenance service was performed, the dealer did not notify my that the air bag system was not functioning properly. i found this strange, since during other service events, we were solicited for recommended services. i performed some research and determined that there are others experiencing the same problems. i am concerned for my wife and kids, since this vehicle is our only form of transportation. i would think the dealer should act in good faith to notify me that there is a potential safety problem with my vehicle. vehicle is almost five years old nad out of standard warranty. due to toyota's recent track record. i beleive an investigation is needed.

The air bag warning light is flashing. per information online, this indicates a problem with the airbags -- either failing to inflate in a crash or inflating erroneously while driving. this seems like a very serious safety issue. correction of the problem can cost up to $4,000 and should be considered a safety defect and subject to recall.

Air bag light is on and flashing. diagnosed by toyota dealer on 02/09/11 as code b0111, needs r/seat airbag assembly & floor wire harness. estimate $2160.00. i contacted toyota customer experience line, the contacted dealer and agreed to pay $700 towards repair. i still cannot afford the repair as i am still paying on the auto loan. this is a safety failure and should be recalled. i am now without airbags. airbags have never been deployed - no accidents. vehicle is only 5 years old and 81k miles.

My 2006 sienna xle has less than 55, 000 miles. just before the new year, the airbag light started flashing continuously. we got the car in on dec. 30 and were told the flashing light was due to a faulty wiring harness in the front passenger seat, which is covered under the regular (and my extended) warranty, but that the parts were not available at the time so i would have to bring the car back. i specially asked if the vehicle was safe to drive and was told my the initial service rep that it was. the service rep failed to follow up with making an appointment as promised, so i called one week later to find out that the parts were going to take in excess of 4 weeks to arrive! i was highly suspicious that the airbag was in working order, so it was no surprise that when i threatened to sue toyota if the airbag failed or malfunctioned in any way in an accident or otherwise, that i was then told my car was unsafe to drive and the dealer would provide a rental at their cost. an order was placed on january 6th for the part which was scheduled to come in 6 weeks later, feb. 9th. after waiting six weeks, i found out yesterday my order was accidentally canceled and that the manufacturer can't keep up production, so presumably, i'm starting my wait time again. i have lodged a complaint with toyota hdqt and have a case id with them. there are hundreds of similar complaints here and on the internet but no recall or notice from toyota about the fact that folks are driving around with flashing air bag lights that mean your airbag may not deploy in an accident and is deactivated because of the faulty wiring harness system. my dealer had 6 complaints alone, six weeks ago. this is outrageous!!! i am calling nhtsa as soon as i finish this complaint.

February 13 2011 just bought a used toyota sienna... driven less than 200 miles and the srs indicator light started blinking. there was no real reason that this light would've been triggered. just drove the car as we normally have done.

Air bag light on 2006 toyota sienna came on. dealer did diagnostic, and quoted $1800 to fix wiring harness and sensor. they did not have the parts in stock and said it would take several weeks to get parts. when i left the dealership that day the light went out, and now only comes on for 5 seconds at start up (which is normal). i did not pay for the repair, but wonder if it might come back?? found an internet discussion group and found that other owners of 2006 toyota siennas that had similar problems. vehicle is out of warranty, but you don't expect these thing to fail this quickly.

Airbag light on 2006 toyota sienna is on. dealership says left side airbag and wire harness need to be replaced. dealer will not cover it under extended warranty even though it is a safety issue. many other people have reported this on www.aboutautomobile.com.

The air bag indicator light on the dash flashes when the van is turned on. the toyota dealer said that the air bag wiring harness needs to be replaced since the air bag would not deploy in the event of an accident. my sienna is inoperable until repaired. there is a long wait, one to three months, to get this part replaced as it is on back order from toyota. the dealer stated that there are more than 400 air bag wiring harnesses on back order for our region alone. an internet search shows multitudes of other 2006 toyota sienna owners with this same air bag malfunction. air bags are included to help save lives, but they do not work properly on the 2006 toyota sienna. a recall should be instituted to fix this problem so the air bags in all 2006 toyota sienna's' will work properly. unless this defect is fixed, the 2006 toyota sienna is an unsafe vehicle.

We have a 2006 sienna xle awd with ~38k and the airbag light turned on in the fall 2010. took it to the dealer on 11/28/2010. there is a problem with the wiring harness and as of 1/4/2011 they will not have one available for at least another month. they told us this is a common problem nationally and as a result, there is a back order for this part. assuming the part comes in the next month, they will have had our car in the shop for over 2 months. this is a major safety issue (obviously known by toyota) and should warrant a recall, especially if this is common enough to have a back log of demand for that piece and the airbags will not work with this defect. in addition to the safety concerns, most of us could not tolerate not having access to the family car for over 2 months. there are many other people with similar complaints documented on the internet. http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2006/toyota/sienna/airbag

In 2008, the airbag dash light on our 2006 toyota sienna began blinking. we took our van to the dealer, who advised that the driver seat sensor was bad. after several repair attempts, the dealer replaced the entire driver seat, but the light continued to blink. after an extensive wait, the entire wiring harness was replaced and the light no longer blinked. in all we were without our van for nearly 3 months, awaiting parts. because of the safety concern (airbag not deploying or deploying when it shouldn't) and because the van was under warranty, the dealer provided a loaner van while we awaited parts. on november 4, 2008, the van struck a deer and the driver's airbag deployed. following airbag replacement and other insurance-covered repairs, the airbag dash light again began blinking. dealer advised that the passenger seat sensor was defective and a replacement part ordered; we were advised the part would be available january 4, 2011. toyota advised that, as van is no longer under warranty, no loaner vehicle is available. on january 4, we were advised that the problem is the wiring harness, which will not be available before february 9, 2011. toyota has offered $35 / day toward loaner / rental vehicle. once again this will be a 3-month out-of-service situation for a safety issue. there are many reports of 2006 toyota sienna airbag indicator / sensor / wiring harness problems reported on the internet. we believe this is a serious safety issue that toyota has avoided addressing as a system / recall issue, corporate behavior consistent with earlier accelerator safety issues on its vehicles.

The driver's and passenger's front seat air bags both failed. there was no accident or impact. the only indication of a problem was the illuminated air bag indicator warning light in the instrument cluster. both air bags required replacement at a cost to the owner of $1,273. toyota denied any responsibility and required the owner to pay the entire $1,273 charge. after the owner contacted toyota national customer relations, a $500 toyota merchandise credit was offered, which the owner is unlikely to use due to the owner's reluctance to purchase any toyota product in the future.

I own a 2006 sienna with 90k+ miles, i'm out of warranty, although i have platinum extended warranty my repair was not totally covered. i took my van in to dealer because my airbag light was flashing, after diagnosed i was told 1 of the seat airbags was bad and also the entire airbag wire harness was bad. service manager at dealer contacted toyota headquarters to help me out, which he did, they will pay for parts and i will pay for repair, $1327. i contacted toyota headquarters myself, i was told that in fact my airbag system was defective and that since i was out of warranty, them paying for the parts was the best they could do. i was then contacted by a toyota parts specialist who advised me that the wire harness for my van was on order, expected to arrive at the repairing dealer approximately 12/15. the reparing dealer contacted me as well and told me that the wire harness was placed on order expected to arrive on 12/15, and that they had put in as a rush. on 12/15 the same toyota parts specialist left me a voicemail on my cellphone advising me that in fact the part (wire harness) showed as shipped to dealer in their database, however this was not accurate he said the part (wire harness) has not been even manufactured yet. although toyota has put me on a rental car, it is very concerning to me and my family that toyota has not been able to come up with a fix involving a safety issue, with a malfunctioning wire harness the airbags are inoperable. i think that toyota shouldn't be bragging about safety and security as in my case, they have a manlfunctioning part which has never been used and cannot be used, worst yet they can't fix.

The air bag light keeps coming on, i have taken the vehicle to the dealer on several occasions and as of today the light is still going on. is my air bag working? no one has been able to answer that question. the dealer has re-set the light and from what i understand changed the air bag, this has been and on-going problem .

Airbag light came on in my 2006 toyota sienna w/ approx 80,000 mi. dealer informed me that the passsenger side airbag and harness need replacement, but the harness will not be available until march 2011. they offered to replace just the air bag, but would not guarantee that this will solve the problem. i am forced to either take a chance and spend money on just the air bag, not knowing whether it will work, or take a chance to drive the vehicle for 4 months with an inoperative airbag and hope that i never am in a situation where i need it. i am uncomfortable with both choices. i am very concerned that toyota does not have the part available. if so many people are needing this part, would this not necessitate a recall?

On oct 15, the airbag warning light began flashing in my 2006 toyota sienna. i took it into the dealer and was told my airbags are defective and the squib and harness would need to be replaced. they called toyota to see if they would cover it since my warranty was 6000 miles over, and they said they wouldn't. said it could cost around $3000 for me to replace. this needs to be included in a recall.

My airbag light began blinking on sunday, 10/17/10. my vehicle is a 2006 toyota sienna. i took it to a local mechanic on 10/20/10 and was told the center squib needed replaced ...upon replacing on 10/22, was told that another error code was displayed indicating airbag replacement needed by a toyota dealer. my car has just went over the warranty period at 62,000 miles. i am unhappy that not even 4 years after buying this vehicle in december 06, i am faced with repair costs that are large for a major safety problem that has been reoccuring from what i have read online with others driving an 06 sienna. and as a mother of 3, i am unable to use my vehicle safely until this problem is fixed. i see a service bulletin for this but no recall..which it seems there should be for such a major safety problem.

The airbag light on my 2006 toyota sienna went off. when the van was less than 6,000 miles over my warranty. the dealer says there is a short in the wiring harness of the airbag under the driver's seat. this disarms all the airbags. i have been waiting 5 weeks for the replacement part. the repair costs $3200.00, but the dealer discounted it to $1,900.00. they say the wait is because there is such a demand for the wiring harness! many drivers are driving without their airbags! this seems to me should be a recall, as it is a safety issue and an undue expense to owners.

The srs indicator light began flashing on my 2006 toyota sienna on 09/20/10. the owner's manual states if this occurs, to take the vehicle to the dealership immediately. i was recently advised by cobb county toyota that my airbag is defective and needs to be replaced for $2400. since my 2006 sienna has 76k miles on it, toyota wouldn't cover it under the warranty. i asked how an unused airbag could be defective, i was told that it is an electrical component. that was the complete answer. so, i checked online. and, sure enough, hundreds of people all over the country are facing the same problem with their 2006 sienna. and, no one has been able to explain the reason. i called the toyota corporate office and the (no) customer service rep said that all she could do was document my concern. no manager could call or assist me. no one could send me a letter stating why an unused airbag is suddenly defective after only 4 years.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the contact stated the airbag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where unknown repairs were made to the air bags. upon starting the vehicle, the air bag light was still illuminated. the dealer made a second repair to the air bags. since the repair, the air bag warning light illuminated on two separate occasions. attempts to correct the failure were made a total of four times, all at the contacts expense. the manufacturer would not provide any assistance, claiming they had not received any similar complaints on her year, make and model. there were no recalls. the approximate failure mileage was 21,000 and the current mileage was 69,000.

We have a 2006 toyota sienna. on march 19, 2010 the srs airbag light came on and began to flash. we immediately called the dealership (fred anderson toyota in raleigh, nc) and scheduled an appointment. on march 27th we were told that there is an open circuit with our passenger side airbag. the airbag sensors are not communicating with the computer. we were told that in order to fix the problem they would need to replace the airbag. our car is 3 years old. we have 77,000 miles on it. it is our main vehicle for work, school, transporting our two children. because of mileage we are over our warranty and they refuse to cover the cost of replacing the airbag. we have been researching this problem online and have found several other people who have had this same problem with their toyota sienna. they got their airbags replaced only to have the problem occur again and again. we were also told that because the light is on, there is a chance that none of our airbags will deploy if we are in an accident. this is a very frustrating situation. toyota is once again having problems with sensors on their safety features on their cars. this is not an isolated incident. we are very concerned about the safety of our children when they ride in this car. we asked to speak to the service manager and were told today (march 29) that there was nothing they could do for us. we will have to pay $411 for the airbag and parts and then $340 for the labor or choose to risk our safety and the safety of our children if we are in an accident. when we asked how this happens on a car that we have only owned for three years (bought at the beginning of december 2006 brand new off the lot), we were told that there is no rhyme or reason for this defect. toyota can't even explain how an airbag goes bad in three years. this is very concerning.

Hello, this is my second complaint about a 2006 sienna that i purchased. there seems to be a problem with the air bag light going on and off. when this happened earlier, i immediately took it to the dealer to get it fixed. now, it has come on again and just recently it turned off. i don't know if this is normal, but i would like to know what else can i do so that my family will be secured in case of an accident. also, the automatic slide door on the right that came equipped with it is not working properly. this happened about a 6-7 months ago. this door used to make a beep noise to let us know the door was not shut, and now when we close it, it acts like it is going to close but it opens. in other words, it does not shut unless you force it to shut which is dangerous to my youngest child. *tr

I bought a 2006 sienna 10/30/2005. july 2, 2006 air bag light was on, making the airbag not working. 3 times had to bring car back, they fixed with garbage tie told by advisor. now i have a problem with the same thing and all i get is a run around, and i am told it's not under warranty. how can a 2 year car with apparently an electrical problem not be covered? on a safety issue? wouldn't it be considered a shop comeback, since the dealership tried fixing it 3 times prior, and i was told to go back there, and not treated any better than in the past. toyota motor co. called up before i got there, and after waiting to be acknowledged, then waiting an additional hour, they hadn't even looked at it. i am a realtor. i do not get paid if i am not working. *tr

In july 2006, about two weeks after purchasing our new 2006 toyota sienna, the airbag off light came on. before we could take it for service someone broke into our mini van and it was in the shop for a month being repaired. the light came on again about a month later, but the dealer, balise toyota in west springfield, ma, reset it during an oil change. in mid october, my wife was broadsided in her door by a honda civic. none of the airbags, including the side curtain airbags deployed. the mini van was in the shop for another month, and the dealer again reset the light, which had come on, apparently during the crash. since october the van has been serviced five or six times for this problem. the dealer's service manager told us in january that toyota in compliance with federal regulations, designed the airbags to permanently turn off if a heavy person rode in the car. the dealership refused to turn the airbags back on again, and claimed that there was no fix for this because it was intentional. other dealers want to charge us for this, even though it should be under warranty. last week, a person at moore of toyota customer care told me that the company's official position was that the airbags were not broken, but rather that my wife and i did not deserve the protection because of our weight. they claimed that they might be willing to buy the vehicle back, but i didn't want them to buy it back. i just want the mini van to work the way it supposed to without having to reset the computer every week. besides, if they were telling the truth about this being a federal law, there were no cars in america that were safe for us to drive. i could not even get my brand new mini van inspected this year because an airbag light was grounded for disqualification. toyota knowingly sold me an unsafe vehicle, one that was designed to be unsafe for 30% of people oh, and now the windshield cracked by the rearview mirror.*ak

Airbag light came on dash and stayed on; took to toyota dealer to have checked. after $99 diagnostic was told technician pulled dtc code b0111 open in side squib b circuit harness. open in harness between right front side air bag and ecu. advised us that airbag harness and air bag needed to be replaced; cost was $2,300.00. service advisor called dspm who authorized coverage on parts only but that we would still have to pay for the labor; $800.00. part numbers needed are 82162-08340 and 73910-ae031. this is a 2006 sienna that we purchased used in february 2007. currently have not repaired/replaced airbag harness and airbag as we were just notified yesterday about findings. having gone on line and read about numerous other 2006 sienna with same problem it appears to me that it should be covered by a recall as it is a very important safety factor that seems to have a major defect in the airbag harness and airbag. we will be watching the nhtsa database to see how this situation is concluded.

In april, 2010 and june, 2010, my airbag light began flashing in my 2006 toyota sienna le, after i started my car. the diagostic code was b0111. the first repair in april, 2010 was a $600 repair paid out of pocket because my car was out of warranty and my extended warranty did not cover air bags. thankfully, my second repair was covered under the warranty of the first repair. this car is only 4 years old, and, although it has excessive miles, the air bag should not be malfunctioning at this point. in doing some research, i see that i am not the only one with this problem, and the the 2006 toyota 4runner has a recall for the same diagnostic code. to me this is inexcusable. obviously there is a problem, and one that will not correct itself with replacing the airbag over and over again...

Since december, 2009, my 2006 toyota sienna's airbag light keeps coming on, then going off, coming on, going off, etc. i took it to the dealership when it first happened and was told i needed a new driver's side airbag. i was told it would not be covered under warranty. why would an airbag need replacing after only owning my van barely three years? i might add that while my van was still under warranty, they had to previously fix an airbag sensor. when i realized the light would go off and stay off (sometime for a week or more at a time), i called the dealership back (twice). the first time the lady said, oh, it may come on again, but maybe you'll be lucky. what kind of answer is that? today, i again called the dealership, mentioning how many other people are having this exact same problem with their toyota siennas and the service guy claims to have not heard anything about it. the dealership claims i need to replace the entire airbag. if the entire airbag truly needed replacing, why would the warning light go off for a week or two at a time and come on and go off intermittently? and i also had a previous issue with the airbag while the van was still under warranty. i'm left wondering what the real problem is and the fact that i have now been on several different web sites where other people are complaining about the exact same thing makes me wonder if this should be a recall issue. this problem has been going on for 2-1/2 months. *tr

I purchased a 2006 toyota sienna, new. in late 2007 the passenger airbag warning light came on. i took the van to the dealership. they checked and recalibrated the system to turn the light off. the light came on at least two more times in 2008. the dealership did not know why the light was coming on. a service rep. told me that the sensor under the front passenger seat was being jarred and making the light come on. the dealership did say that there had been similar issues with other sienna's and that a new part being sent to correct the problem. in addition, or as part of adding this corrective part, the dealership replaced the passenger airbag. the light illuminated again in early 2010. again, i took the van in. the service rep. checked the sensor wires under the front passenger seat. the light went off. i asked if the light illuminating meant that the passenger airbag would not deploy

2006 toyota sienna - 40,000 miles. involved in a frontal impact with a tree from a peak velocity of 40-45 mph to an estimated impact speed of 20-25 mph. the vehicle hit square in hood center, deforming everything backward symmetrically 1-1.5 feet. insurance company classified vehicle as a total loss (damage > $16,000). driver suffered multiple left arm injuries including wrist dislocation and fractured forearm bones - resulting because airbag never deployed. i have been in contact with toyota customer service reps for a week and their explanation at first was that the impact speed was not great enough to deploy the airbags. after viewing the pictures, they changed their position to state that because it was a concentrated impact not centered about the impact sensor, and not an evenly distributed load impact, the sensors would not have deployed. unacceptable. i asked the cs rep if we had hit the tree in the exact same spot at 100 mph, would the airbag have deployed and her answer was 'theoretically no'. whether this lack of deployment was by design or not, i feel this is a horrific impact protection philosophy. none of us would choose to be in an accident, and certainly none of us are going to have control over when and where and how fast and at what angle we will make impact. that is the definition of an accident. i guess i am inquiring about the legitimacy of this explanation to me by toyota, and also about the regulations for impact sensor deployment. would it not be wise to employ a third impact sensor at vehicle center, possibly with a higher detonation speed? that way it would not be activating every time there were a 5 mph bump in the grocery store parking lot, but would still deploy if subjected to the type of impact we have just seen. thanks in advance. *tr

On march 14, 2009 my husband hit a tree head on with the van while trying to avoid a deer. the airbag did not deploy. he hit his head on the steering wheel and broke a bone in his hand. the airbag tried to deploy but failed. part of the section on the steering wheel in front of the airbag separated but the bag did not inflate. *tr

Air bag light has been a problem since april 19, 2006. july 2006, and august 2006 dealer had this car to repair. november 2007 light went on again, which makes my vehicle unsafe, since airbags will not deploy if needed. dealer and toyota motor corp are aware of this, and say that i drive my car to much, and .is not covered by them. was told last repair was fixed by dealer with garbage ties. *tr

06 toyota sienna air bag sensor lights up intermittently. dealer says problem with loose connector for side airbag on passenger side. the connector cannot be tightened or individually replaced. we must replace entire airbag at cost of $2,500. no airbags will deploy with light on. many complaints in internet for the same problem. this is a serious safety issue and should be addressed with a recall.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. while the contact started the ignition, the air bag warning indicator illuminated until the engine was turned off. the failure occurred sporadically. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. the trouble code detected a passenger side air bag failure which would prevent the air bags to deploy during impact. the technician informed the part was unavailable. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000. js

2006 sienna airbag light flashing. tech identified defective passenger seat airbag assembly although auto was never in an accident. no reason for failure given other than you never know about electronic systems. the only way to reset the light is to replace airbag assembly at a cost of $940+ with diagnostic charge and with that you only get a 1 year warranty on equipment that originally lasted slightly over 4 years. as a consumer you would never think that you would have to replace an airbag unless there was an accident or possibly if you owned the auto for maybe 10+ years. in addition, the whole airbag system is inoperable although it has only been determined that the passenger side airbag is defective. consequently, there is no option other than to replace the defective assembly. it is hard to comprehend why equipment with minimal wear and tear would break but from other reports this seems to be a not so uncommon occurrence for toyota siennas. *tr
