The driver-side mirror with dimming, blinker, hest snd folding in capability has failed. the motor that controls the mirror constantly runs and the mirror opens and closes with the wind direction. i tried to find a replacement part but all the replacement parts have the same motor problem. the dealership requires a entire mirror replacement and repaint.

Power sliding door on passenger side does not always latch. it appears that the motor is too weak to make the door latch fully. this does not happen all the time, and it seems to be random. have noticed that the door seems to move more slowely when it has the latching problem.

2006 toyota sienna rear hatchback shock failure causing rear door to slam down so hard it shattered the glass. toyota said the shocks are defective and will be replaced for 6 years unlimited miles. this is a major hazard as the door is very heavy! all units should be replaced before people are hurt or killed. toyota # pol-08-01 they refuse to pay for the damaged window but will replace the shocks.

I have a 2006 toyota sienna le with less than 40,000 miles. the rear hatch strut has failed and the hatch will not stay open on it's own and comes crashing down with intense force if not held open. when it first happened it came crashing down on my back and hurt it. i am quick to move out of the way now when it closes because it can cause serious harm to anyone in its way. this is of serious concern to me with a 5 year old and a 3 year old. i contacted toyota about it and they want to charge me $400 to fix their problem. i have seen there has been a recall for the 2006 sienna with a power door but not for the other models. my guess is that they might use the same strut or the strut is having the same issue. please investigate this as i have seen numerous people with the same problem. *tr

In november 2006 i purchased a lowered floor toyota sienna with automatic wheelchair ramp. the purchase was made through mc mobility in mentor ohio, modifications done by braun corp in indiana. first the gas tank had not been changed which caused malfunctions in the emissions system and associated electronic systems. this took several months to diagnose and fix. then an ac tube running from front to back had not been strapped in properly, causing it to wear through. this took about two months to resolve. the most persistent problem is with the ramp. since the spring of 2007 it has intermittently malfunctioned. the ramp will deploy as designed, but then sometimes the ramp will not stow back in the vehicle. obviously the van cannot be operated with the ramp extended. assistance is needed to manually work against the automatic system to stow the ramp, and assistance is not always around. the malfunction may happen just once and be fine for weeks on either side, or it might happen continually for weeks with obvious impediment to employment and other life activities as well as serious potential for injury as a lone disabled driver has to try to cope with the problem. under vehicle warranty mc has done numerous repair attempts but nothing so far has worked permanently. this is a continuing problem.*tr

I was driving approximate 25-30 mph on a dry, level street. a car stopped in front of me to make a left hand turn. i applied the brakes and nothing happened. i released and reapplied the brakes again and again no response. i was able to swerve to the right into an empty parking lot to avoid hitting the car or another collision. after swerving and reapplying the brakes a 3rd or 4th time i was able to come to a stop. my kids and i were serverly shaken, but not injured. we decided this problem was due to the master cylinder. we replaced it and have had 3 more incicents since replacing the master cylinder. 1 was in reverse leaving my drive way. i wound up hitting and embankment across the street to stop me. this was a slight down hill roll in reverse. i went from parked to out of controll. i never touched the accellorator and hit the brake multiple times and even tried shifting back into park (knowing that's bad for the transmission), nothing worked. after getting stopped and pulling forward everything seemed normal again. my husband was driving in traffic and we were approaching a turn and had to merge in to perpendicular traffic. approx speed 25-35 mph. the brakes again completely failed and we had to swerve through a traffic light in to a free lane of traffic to avoid a rear end collision with the cars infront of us. we ordered another master cylinder and were preparing to install it. today the brakes failed again at a stop sign (approx speed 5-10 mph) i had been stopped and started to ease in to the main road when i saw a car coming from the left.

Master head unit, including navigation, rear camera, bluetooth, and stereo, stopped working. it makes a clicking noise but the screen is dead and does not respond at all. appears to be from a design defect that causes overheating of the unit over time. multiple reports of similar failures are all over the internet. this is a significant safety issue as the rear camera, bluetooth, and navigation are all important items for extra safety in operating the vehicle. i think most people would expect that a non-mechanical part (like the radio/head unit) would last longer than 6 years, especially when it cost several thousand dollars. *tr
