| 2006 toyota sienna. consumer writes in regards to repair cost concerning air bag and seat belt issues *tgw the consumer stated the air bag light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an inspection. the service advisor, informed the consumer it would cost $ 3,985 to repair the air bag issue, but stated it was a seat belt issue that required a floor wiring harness which needed to be replaced. | |||

| Passenger seat belts on the right side in middle and rear row tighten, or retract, when passenger sits back. then they do not release when the passenger leans forward. this means that the seat belt gets tighter and tighter until it is very uncomfortable. our kids complained about the seat belts being too tight but they seemed to be working properly when i checked them. it seems to be an intermittent problem. when i finally experienced this myself, we were just out of the warranty period. quote was $500 to repair each one. *tr | |||

| One day i found that the seatbelt had torn in half in the rear folding seat. i suspect that a couple of weeks earlier it had gotten caught in the mechanics of the folding seat. the folding seat had gotten stuck for some reason and needed a lot of force to open it back up. maybe it got a small tear then which grew. i don't know. regardless, one day i found it completely torn in two and unusable in the rear drivers side. *tr | |||

| Toyota sienna 2006 1. normal driving with absolutely no accidents in the history of the vehicle. 2. drivers's side front seat belt will not retract, making is absolutely useless for its intended purpose. this is a major safety issue. 3. contacted toyota headquarters who claims that the vehicle is outside the normal 3 year warranty period. | |||

| Tl-the contact owns 2006 toyota sienna. the rear middle row seat belt buckle is not latching. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the seat belt was working when they inspected the vehicle and stated there is nothing they can do to repair the problem until there is a failure. the toyota manufacturer was contacted stating they will call the dealership and have them contact him in a few days. the failure mileage was 42,785....mw | |||

| Our 06' toyota sienna front passenger seat belt won't retract. dealer says it needs to be replaced. the same thing happened in our 02 toyota sienna and the same thing happened in my 1995 toyota back seat on both window seats.in 1996. | |||

| Couple things happened- right after we both sienna, about 1 month later the brake light went on. it was late sunday night, so the dealership was closed. we went there the following week. they couldn't find a problem, cause the light went off. when i left the dealer, the light went back on so i left my car thereand told them i'm not going to drive until they find a problem. i have 2 small kids and their safety is first. they fix it and said that some sensor unfortunately was damaged during the delivery and they replace it. then i got problem with my power side door- will still be closing even if you try to stop it. solution from the dealer- lubricate and that's it- it still happen from time to time. next- front passenger and second row seat belts- lock during the trip. dealer solution- they don't see the problem. now about 2 months ago my accelerator got suck while driving for about 15 seconds. i did not made a big deal out of it, because i was sure it suppose to happen, but nw after hearing what going on with other toyota models, i'm just not sure. the gas pedal did not got stuck to the carpet for sure- i would see it, it was like it got stuck at 70mph... i love my sienna and husband drives corolla too and we both love toyotas. i just think now it's not about love for the engine, it's about safety of our children. if necessary i have documents regarding the brake sensor replacement, seat belts complains, etc. i spoke with the dealer about the gas pedal and said to me that my model its not in the recall and it could be something else, but did not offer to check what could it be... *tr | |||

| Letter from congressman coble on behalf of constituent re seat belts in 2006 toyota sienna - safety complaint #10280400. *nj the consumers son was sitting in the back seat when all of sudden, the middle seat belt had wrapped around his neck 3 times. the seat belt was wrapped so tightly around his neck that it wouldn't budge and every little movement made it tighter. the seat belt had to be cut by emergency personal. the consumers stated he had been playing with the seat belt. *jb | |||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the vehicle was parked when the contact observed the defective rear center seat belt. the child was properly secured in the rear driver side seat using the seat belt system. the seat belt entangled around the occupant's neck. there was difficulty disengaging the seat belt. the contact cut the seatbelt and freed the occupant. the vehicle has not been repaired for the failure. the failure and current mileages were 60,628. | |||

| My 4 year old son and his 7 year old cousin were sitting in the back seat of our toyota sienna van, each on either side with the middle seat empty. all of a sudden, my son gasped, help me, please help me. my mother, who was driving, looked back through the rearview mirror and saw that my son had the middle seat seatbelt wrapped around his neck three times (that belt hangs from the ceiling in our sienna van). he could gasp a bit of air, but it was tight and getting tighter every time he moved. my mother whipped the car into a driveway and jumped in the backseat to free him. the belt was wrapped so tightly around his neck that she couldn't budge it and every little movement made it lock in tighter. she wedged two fingers between his throat and the belt to try to keep it loose enough for him to breathe and got my nephew to get her cell phone. she called 911 and they came and had to cut him out to free him. when we questioned my son afterwards, he said he had just been playing with the belt and didn't think it would get stuck around his neck. *tr | |||

| I, together with my family had a car accident that happened in stamford, ct. a car struck my van perpendicularly at the left rear wheel which caused it to spun 180 degrees. as the collision occurred my seatbelt suddenly unbuckled which resulted myself slamming on the side door and incurring multiple contusion. i filed a report to toyota motors about it, and they sent someone to look at it. according to their inspector there is no malfunction to my seatbelt. he concluded that i might had accidentally press the release button at the time of the accident. i have not touched the release button of the at the time of the accident. so far i haven't heard anything from them as of now. by the way, my van is a 2006 toyota sienna le awd . i was at the right second row when the accident occurred. *tr | |||

| A 2006 sienna. the seat belt in the middle of the third seat has to use the cars ignition key to unlock it. this is in accordance to the owners manual. usually this seat is used for a child. in an accident, there is no way to quickly release the seat belt in this position. in the case of a car fire or need to quickly evacuate the vehicle, the person in this seat wouldn't have a chance. a situation fraught with potential for disaster.....*jb | |||
