I was driving in august and could hear something banging on the underside of my van, i would stop and it would go away because the tread would fall on road and then start a day later with more tread coming off. it was the tread coming off of my tires but didn't know that at the time and getting caught on the underside of my van. this went on for 2 weeks. my tire sensor never came on. i drove to ohio on i-75 october 21, 2012 and my front 2 tires blew out at the same time - br 001522 tires. a big slash in one tire a small hole in another. i pull over and see a lot of the tread is completely off of both tires. i get to a tire store and they said it look like the alignment caused the wear. i replaced all 4 tires and have the tire co put the 2 in my back van. i go to belle tire to get a refund for my tires with 29,000 miles on 65,000 wear tires. they said they would call bridgestone. bridgestone denied my case for a refund. i got an alignment 11/14/2012 and it shows my alignment was ok a little off but would never have caused that kind of wear with tread just coming off both tires at the same time - they are defective tires. the white spikes were showing on both tires - the tread came off completely on both tires around the edges.

Failure of sidewalls of two bridgestone insignia se200 215/65r16 tires at 5693 miles of normal driving conditions on 2006 toyota sienna van-dot # ob6ve224711 located on tire sidewall. tires sold by monro shop # 190 in christianburg, va. same tire brand, model and size replaced at shop #349 in cheshire, ct at cost of road hazard coverage contract at cost of $87. 80 to cover all four tires. i am very concerned that the other two tires purchased at the same time with the same dot designations may also develop sidewall bulges and be the cause of a serious accident. is there a manufacturing defect on this tire that should be looked into?

Toyota siena had a recall of spare tire and placed the spare tire in the back of the van without securing it. the tire has not been secured and is a security risk in hard braking for the passengers in the backseat with one seat folded down. toyota refused to address the issue. they asked me to file arbitration and also told me that they do not have a plan to harness the tire.

I had a failure of a goodyear integrity tire with only 29,000 miles it. it had uneven tread wear and the wire strands poking out from a broken steel belt. this tire was on the right rear position of my 2006 toyota sienna this defective tire caused my sienna to wobble violently with speeds above 35mph. this violent wobble also caused abnormal tread wear on the inside surface of all four tires on the vehicle. this tire was one of two goodyear integrity tires i purchased from fox river tire and supply on 5/10/08, when the vehicle mileage was 21,059 miles. these two tires were on the front axle until i purchased two more goodyear integrity tires at abe and doc

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) i purchased four firestone fr710 tires on august 27, 2009 from a local firestone dealer for my 2006 toyota sienna. recently we noticed that the front right tire's tread was delaminating all around the perimeter of the tire where the tread meets the sidewall. in some places there was 1/2 of separation. upon closer inspection it was found that two of the other tires were also starting to separate. this was evident due to small hairline separations running around the perimeter of the tires in the same region as the worst tire. these tires were all made within a week of each other with date codes of 1909 and 2009 (19th and 20th week of 2009). the dot number is w56v710. the vin of the vehicle is [xxx] . the mileage at purchase was 49,328 and the current mileage is 61,491. photos of the tires are available. *tr

I contacted toyota customer service on 01/16/2007 (file #200701190685) about vehicle defects of my newly purchased 2006 toyota sienna but didn't receive any response except the notice of reception of my complain. problem: run on low tire pressure (22 psi instead of indicated 35 psi) for one year from the time i purchased this vehicle from the dealer till that i found out the problem. reason: the dealer (universal toyota san antonio) admitted that they needed to lower the tire pressure of the vehicle during transportation from factory to dealership but someone forgot to set it back before it was handed out to customer. the maintenance dealership (cavender san antonio) also didn't do their job to check the tire pressure until one year later i asked them to do so. toyota solution for this problem: the manager of cavender san antonio promised to give me a free tank of gas and a free maintenance next time. i accepted. however, i asked the dealership to replace the four tires because they were damaged, but they didn't agree, arguing that even under low pressure, these tires should be fine. consequences: three of four tires on this vehicle were deflated on highway in less than one year (3/22/2008, 9/6/2008, 3/20/2009). the last tire deflation was terrible and almost caused five lives on the vehicle because it was sudden and the vehicle was lost of control. the tire pressure alert didn't even light up at the beginning. after this accident, i decided that i can't take any chance with these tires and replaced all four tires. i kept all these receipts. my requests: compensate the cost of these tires, the damage to my vehicle and toyota's neglect for so long until it became a big problem. *tr

Run flat tires needing replacement only after 2 years of owning the car. 2 blowouts on the freeway due to no direct tire pressure sensor to alert us of the flat tire. the light only goes on after the tire is blown. the first blow out, i drove it directly to the dealer. total cost of replacement $350 for tire. i then had problems with the indirect tire sensor light coming on. i called the dealer back, he told me to ignore the light because the cold outside was causing it to go on. i drove it back anyway, they checked the tire pressure, put some more air in and sent me home with my sensor light still lit. i took it back to the dealer a few weeks later, they said it was a leaky valve. they replaced the valve, filled the tire with air and sent me home. less than 5 days later, another blowout on the freeway. i drove it to the nearest tire store. they could not do the repair because the tire would ruin their machine. it's harder to break down and take off. i was sent to another tire store. they were able to remove the tire and replace them with regular tires. now, i don't have run flats anymore, but i don't have the excessive cost to keep replacing these expensive tires. the dealer told me at the time of the purchase that it was a dream for mom's transporting kids because i wouldn't have to change to a spare if the tire went flat. that the care was safer than safe. the manager of the service department also told me i was lucky that i got 40,000 miles out of them. both tires blew out on the freeway, i rolled the car in at 25 miles per hour, on the rim, with my kids in the car. i did it safely with my driving, not because of the run-flat tires. i will never purchase another car with run-flat tires. they didn't tell me how expensive they were to replace and that i would need to replace them so frequently. also that the tire sensor is indirect. i didn't even know when the tires were just getting low, only when completely flat. *tr

Ever since i bought this sienna 2006, i have noticed both of my back dunlop tires are leaking air frequently starting on feb 2008. the mileage as of today is only 5400. the right side of the back tire popped and i have to replaced with the michelin. as for the left side, every week, it dropped to 20psi. i have to pump it back up to 35-40psi every week. took it to the dealer, no holes or any problem found on the dunlop. they refused to replace the tire. i ask them why it didn't happen to the front tire then, why only the back tires? i told them it must be the manufacturer problem and they have to replace. no comments from them and they said i have to purchase a new one to replace it. stupid idiot solution from them. *tr

2006 toyota sienna w/run flat tires showed significant premature tire wear. all service maintained with toyota dealership and up to date. determined that at 19.400 miles the wear showed tire belt creating a safety hazard unknown to the driver/owner until normal service visit. the vin was outside the effected vin list associated with supplemental tire warranty coverage sponsored by toyota related to identical problems with previous awd siennas. toyota refused assistance in replacing tires. dunlop provided prorate of 48% for replacement. tires were viewed as unsafe based on premature wear that would not be noticeable to owner/driver without understanding the problems with run flats. toyota refused any support since vin was 5000 outside the effectivity of the supplemental warranty. failure of tire due to premature wear could result in loss of control of the vehicle, and ultimtaely loss of life. research via internet revealed other premature wear problems that were also outside the vin effectivity list assosciated with the suppllemental warranty. only time when a tire failure will result in an accident and potentially loss of life.*ak

This report is for my mother in law's 2006 toyota sienna xe awd minivan with the dunlop runflat tires. this minivan has had 2 defective tires on it since it's purchase and with less than 8000 miles on the tires. both tires were replaced by the dealer, but we continue to have tire/pressure problems. i believe both tires were ruined due to the pressure sensing system not detecting low pressure in the tires and causing the side walls to collapse after continued driving. luckily, nobody has been injured, however if driving at high speeds with this system a potential exists for a severe accident. i have spoken with the national toyota and local dealer, and they continue to not address the problem. the dealer has stated in writing that the pressure system is functioning properly, however runflat tires on this system do not register low pressure until multiple tires or a single tire has hardly any pressure in it. the local dealer manager agrees with me that the runflat tires with the abs type pressure sensing system is not a safe system. i have requested to have regular tires installed on this van so the pressure system can detect low pressure, however toyota will not change them for me. i feel that having runflats as installed by the manufacturer on this type of pressure system can eventually lead to an accident when a low tire blows off the rim at a high speed, causing the driver to lose control. with the runflat tires, a driver cannot visually look at the tire and detect that it is low, due to the thick sidewalls that allow them to run flat. this is a safety issue that i believe toyota should address and correct before somebody is killed. i live in alaska and my mother in law frequently makes trips to anchorage, where fuel/service stations are hundreds of miles apart and -50

I have a 2006 toyota sienna xle awd minivan which was seen 10/17/07 for tire replacement (dunlop 4000 dsst run flats). i have owned this care for 1 year and 2 weeks and have only 14,900 miles on it. recommended service has been done at the dealership twice since i've owned the car, including tire rotation...once in february and once at the end of july. the car was driven only under normal road conditions and air pressures checked every 2 weeks. i am two weeks past 1 yr. warranty and even though preexisting wear was missed by service dealer in late july, i am being charged for replacement. toyota aware or previous problems with these tires, including class action law suit, yet continued to put them on cars. my tread wear was determined to be uneven with 0 depth on the inside tread of left front, posing a safety hazard and creating an unsafe driving condition. report also indicates wear on edges and cupping evident on all other tires (according to the dealer, my vin number did not match up with the service bulletin and i was charged for the installation of these tires and a wheel alignment) an attempt to contact toyota customer care while the car was in the shop was unresolved as customer care never returned my call. run flats were supposed to be a safety feature on my awd, instead they have become a safety hazard. one does not carry a spare, and in fact there is no room for one in this sienna. you would not expect to need 4 new tires at <15,000 miles! *tr

Dunlop st4000 tires are worn out at 20,500 highway miles. serious problem. this is a really big issue, as i have seen all the complaints on many internet sites. i am very disappointed with these tires. the car is less than a year old and i have to spend $1000 plus on new tires?????? i went to my toyota dealer and they told me that there is nothing they can do and that i will have to pay for 4 new tires. i can't buy regular tires because there is no room for a spare tire anywhere. this is insane. i will have to think twice before buying another toyota. i have been a toyota fan since i could remember; this has really changed my perspective of this company. *nm
