On september 26, 2007, toyota filed a defect information report and notified nhtsa that some of its model year (my) 2007 and 2008 lexus e350 and toyota camry vehicles could experience unintended and uncontrolled acceleration due to interference between the optional all weather floor mat offered on those vehicles and the vehicles' accelerator pedal.this decision was influenced by an office of defects investigation (odi) engineering analysis.this recall was designated 07e082.two years later, on october 5, 2009, toyota filed a defect information report and notified nhtsa that a number of its my 2004-2009 lexus and toyota vehicles may also experience unintended and uncontrolled acceleration due to interference between the accelerator pedal and the driver's floor mat.this recall was designated 09v388.several months later, on january 27, 2010, toyota filed an amended, or supplemental, defect information report and expanded the population of vehicles to include additional my 2008-2010 toyota and lexus vehicles.since this expansiontook place in a different calendar year, this recall was designated 10v023.separately on january 21, 2010, toyota filed a defect information report and notified nhtsa that certain toyota vehicles and certain pontiac vibe vehicles contained a safety defect in the accelerator pedal assembly that may cause the accelerator pedal to become harder to depress, slower to return, or in the worse case, mechanically stuck in a partially depressed position.nhtsa designated this recall 10v017.in total, the four recalls cover over 7.6 million toyota and lexus vehicles as well as the pontiac vibe product made by new united motor manufacturing, inc., a venture of toyota and general motors corporation.nhtsa requires additional information from toyota to more fully understand and evaluate, among other things, whether the scope of the recalls identified above (makes, models and model years) is sufficiently broad.the agency is seeking to determine whether toyota viewed the underlying defects too narrowly as interference between the accelerator pedal and the driver

On 5/2/12 one of the right turn signals stopped working. while inspecting the lights to determine which bulb to replace, i noticed that the plastic lens immediately in front of the turn signal bulbs on both sides in the front is blackened and melting from the heat of the bulb. additionally, the lens on the passenger side front is cracked on the inside where the bulb has overheated the lens. further inspection of the lamp socket shows heat fatigue and discoloration due to overheating. it appears as if the light bulb is too close the the lens and there is inadequate ventilation for the heat. i am concerned that continual heating of the lens and the socket may lead to an electrical failure of that component, causing a fire. it should be noted that this truck model's running lights (which are also the turn signal lights) are always on whenever the headlights are off, there is no way of shutting these lights off. fyi: internet searches have turned up numerous complaints regarding this same issue. many concerned customers have reported the issue to toyota (myself included), however, toyota will not fix or even acknowledge that there is an issue. i have taken the liberty of looking at the turn signal lenses of parked tacoma trucks just to see if they have the same issue as mine. an overwhelming majority of the trucks show the same type of defect.

High idle, truck wanting to run on at a higher rpm when shifting. idle not dropping down between shifts. excessive high idle when in second gear going down an incline, when motor should be at idle speed. dangerous on snow/ice when you use the engine torque to slow the vehicle. seems to be a iac (idle air control) issue, computer controlled. having worked for a foreign car company for 16 years as a district service manager, i find this an odd problem, as the computer knows the car is warmed up, but continues to hold the iac valve open, causing a high idle. it appears to be a control (computer) issue. *tr

I would like to add my name to the list of people who have toyota's with acceleration issues. i own a 2008 toyota tacoma. i made a complaint with toyota shortly after purchasing the vehicle that i have felt, on many occasions, while stopped, a sudden surge forward. at times, it feels as though i was bumped from behind. toyota told me that it was a result of the air conditioner compressor kicking on. the problem is that about 90% of the time, my a/c was not on. i was lucky enough that the only times i have felt this was while stopped with my foot on the brake. there has never been an accident due to this with my vehicle. my complaint is listed on their service record od my vehicle. i will simply put that date of incident as today's date, as this particular surge has happened so many times. i have floor mats that do not slide forward, my pedal is not on the recall list, and i do not drive with both feet. i feel that the issue has something to do with their fuel delivery system. *tr

Fuel filler neck flap broke off and fell into the tank.gas mileage is terrible. left turn signal stayed on and air conditioner was working intermittently. took vehicle to champion toyota on 10-15-09. dealership stated that flap inside tank is normal... they repaired turn signal and stated that this could have caused the a/c to not work properly. dealership stated that wires were burnt together causing the turn signal to stay on. received vehicle back on 10-20-09. also, i had taken the vehicle to dealership a few months prior to the 10-15-09 incident concerning a/c not working, they said they corrected problem. also, tailgate has bowed after moving a light dryer. dealer states that tailgate is not rated. *tr

2008 toyota tacoma sport trd 4x4 truck. i was driving on the highway at about 65mph and went to change lanes to pass and the accelerator seemed to have stuck and keep accelerating even know i wasn't pushing the gas & the brake felt like a weight not a normal brake pedal. the truck also has higher idle at time of and has done this several times but not all the time. the garage claims they can't find an issue and they tell you not to worry about it. the consequences to this failure or action is vary dangerous as the vehicle seems uncontrollable and you couldn't slow it, even when down shifting it would wind out. it lasts about 1 mile or so (sometimes longer) and then seems to go back to normal. my main concern is that i have already filed for the toyota dispute settlement program but have not heard anything to date, i filed because my brand new tacoma has many, many other issues and nobody will help or fix it being certified toyota dealership/garage or the california toyota corp. they don't care 1 bit and claim it's under warranty but the garage needs to tell them what's wrong with it to fix it. a massive huge run around. i have also researched this myself and it seems to be a growing problem and have a reported 400+ cases of similar instances. toyota does not stand behind their trucks anymore. something needs to be done before people get seriously injured and or die from this issue. i don't feel safe driving this truck for several reasons and that being the most important 1. also you can find many many more others that have this issue on consumeraffairs.com under toyota recalls or problems. have a look. the trucks have major issues and nobody seems to care about it. i was a loyal toyota owner until all this. i had a 2003 tacoma with vary similar issues and should of never went back for more. *tr
