Defect SummarySoutheast toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 tundra vehicles for failing to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 138, tire pressure monitoring systems. the tpms on some vehicles may not have been properly calibrated and as a result the low tire pressure warning lamp may not illuminate should the inflation pressure in one or more of the vehicle's tires fall below the threshold for when the low tire pressure warning lamp should illuminate.
Consequence SummaryDrivers will not receive a warning from the tire pressure monitor that one or more tires are underinflated, increasing the risk that the vehicle will be driven with one or more underinflated tires, increasing the risk of a tire failure that may lead to a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will recalibrate the tire pressure monitoring system in accordance with the regulation free of charge. the safety recall began during july 2011. owners may contact southeast toyota customer assistance center toll free at 1-800-301-6859, monday through friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, eastern standard time.

B.f. goodrich rugged trail t/a tires started cracking in the tread crown at 13,000 miles on all four tires with 9/32 of tread left. the cracks run longitudinally along the tread on both the outer and inner side of the tread. i have inspected other toyota tundras with the same tires that are also cracking. now at 16,000 miles the tires are making a loud rumbling noise and the cracks are growing larger and longer. both michelin and toyota were notified and both refused to take appropriate corrective action.

I bought my 2007 tundra 6/30/2007 ran great until around 18,500 mi. at that time the transmission started making a banging noise which it felt like the 05 4 runner. the 4 runner still does it but it runs and drives fine. the tundra is getting really bad as it is grinding and and banging. i have been in contact with toyota from my area and they keep saying i have to bring it in to have it checked. i have had several appointments and they usually call and cancel the appointment. i contacted different corporate exc's and one from california called and made an app. and i was there for it. i waited for 1 1/2 hours and the rep didn,t show. i am now going to send mr.akio toyoda, president of toyota a certified letter. his address iscorporate headquarters* 1 toyota-cho toyota city, aichi 471-8571 japan phone: 81 5 6528 2121 fax: 81 5 6523 5800 i hope everyone that has a problem will send a certified letter to him and let him know how embarrassed the toyota co. should be for the way they are handling the problems. i for one will go back to gm as they will half try to help

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. the vehicle has bridgestone/firestone dueler a/t 693 tires, size pt27555r20 (na). while driving approximately 70 mph, the rear driver's side tire blew out. there were no injuries. the contact consulted the tire dealer and was informed that the tire was no longer available. they replaced the tire with a different one at the contact's expense. the vehicle dealer would not replace the tire because it was not covered under warranty. the manufacturer stated that if he purchased another vehicle from them, they would give him $700 off the price. the contact refused their offer, and just wanted the tires replaced. the manufacturer refused. the contact stated that because the tire was blown to shreds at the time of the failure, the dot number was unavailable. the current mileage was approximately 20,000 and failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

I purchased a brand new 2007 toyota tundra two months ago. with less than 9,000 miles on bridgestone dueler tires, the left rear tire pretty much disintegrated while traveling on i10 at 75 miles per hour. the sidewall of the tire completely separated from the main part of the tire. there was no bang and the tires were properly inflated. it appears to be a manufacturing defect or a design flow. i kept the remains of the tire as well as the other three tires and purchased a set of 4 new tires of a different brand. *tr

I have a 2007 tundra that has been modified by the dealer i.e. 3 inch lift they refuse to provide me the details of the lift on the truck even though i have repeatedly complained. i first thought that it was part of the recall, so i made a complaint to toyota. the manager of the auto repair portion of the dealership contacted and tried to explain to me that what was happening to the truck was not part of the recall. i then did research on my own after discussing the issue with their repair shop at stevens creek toyota. what is happening is the tire pressure monitoring system alarm light is coming on the dash and stays on. this happened three times since i bought the truck. i am upset that the manager told me this was normal. it is not, it also affects how the truck drives once the light comes on the dash. it affects the pedal which can stick and you loose control of the truck. i have large tires on my car to go with the lift. i have checked and they appear to have tpms valves but the dealership refuses to provide me proof. i am entitled by law to know what was done to my truck that affects how my car handles especially since the car was modified by the dealer not me. updated 05/12/10.*jb

2007 toyota tundra v-8, 5.7 l. 4 lo light blinks, vsc light blink, check engine light on continuously all three of these lights are coming on. i can take my battery off and they reset. per toyota disconnect battery and it will re set. the truck will kick you down to 40 mph or slower when this happens even if you are running 60 at the time. was told the problem was my secondary air intake. and a tire sensor problem. but that doesn't explain the sudden surges in motor or dieing for no reason. talked with toyota and they said they would fix it. to date not done. this has happened for the past 2 months. have to disconnect my battery several times a day just to drive my truck. i have almost been hit more than 3 times due to this problem. went to pull out to cross 3 lanes of traffic and it kicked down, had the gas pedal floored and the truck would barely move. my truck now has 40,000 miles and it still is not fixed. my a/c went out, said it was the fuse, what about the blower motor that has never worked right, or the truck wants to die all the time, electronic start wont work was told my battery was no good yet they won't honor the battery because it is now out of their warranty due to them taking so long to get it in and having me to disconnect the battery all the time. toyota called to day and said my truck would be done in a couple hours, then less than a hour later they said it wouldn't be done because they had ordered the wrong parts and that i would need to bring them a battery. *tr
