| I recently purchased a 1999 victory v92 motorcycle. about a week after i bought the motorcycle it started shifting into neutral when you tried to upshift, then when you try to upshift again it is in the wrong gear. this has happened numerous times now. this happened when a car did not see me and i needed to give it some throttle to get out of the way, instead i was busy searching for the right gear. luckily i was not ran over. i have read many reports of the same thing happening to other people,sometimes with the transmission downshifting resulting in a skid, but there is nothing being done about it. the problem with these motorcycles needs to be fixed before people are injured or killed, which i am sure some people have been. *tr | |||

| 1999 polaris victory 92c manual transmission. ea05-002. what is the status of this investigation. i bought my motorcycle brand new and have very few miles on it (less than 2000) as i am afraid the transmission is going to fail. the only thing i have received from polaris regarding this issue is they are willing to do a repair upgrade to the transmission if i will pay half the cost of the repair kit ($884.00) plus the cost of the inspection and installation of the upgrade kit (approximately 11 hours of labor @ $60.00 per hour = $660.00) the total cost to me to upgrade the transmission is approximately $1550.00. i do not feel this is fair if the transmission has a design flaw. *jb | |||

| Special note: your site does not have polaris industries or victory motorcycle so i had to choose another manufacturer to enter information. i have a 1998 victory v-92c motorcycle serial #209 that has been having transmission problems. serial #5vpcb159x3000209, i have taken to dealer and they stated there was a loose bolt on one side which was corrected. that did not fix the problem and am now being told that the bike needs a new transmission. this bike has extremely low miles and i am the only owner. when i say low miles i have less that 10,000 miles on this model. the bike has always been maintained at the local dealer even oil changes. this bike has also only been stored inside and is in showroom condition i am extremely unhappy about this and feel that victory should recall these bikes with these transmissions that they admit are very weak. *jb | |||

| I own a 1999 victory motorcycle model v92c. i have read numerous complaints nationwide on victory chat sites that the transmissions in these motorcycles are failing at an alarming rate with sometimes catastrophic results (transmissions locking up and thus locking up the rear wheel while driving, causing accidents, etc.). i have 18,000 miles on my bike and it is now showing the symptoms leading to such failure. false neutral indications, unreliable shifting, and a strange vibration from the transmission area. i believe transmission failure is imminent. i have been in touch with the dealer i purchased the bike from new on 4/16/99 and they tell me my only recourse is to purchase an upgraded replacement transmission to the tune of $2500 plus labor. i'm told that i'm one of the lucky ones in that i got 18000 miles out of it. because of the apparent high failure rate, the low mileage on machines at time of failure, the potential of grievous bodily harm to operator and passenger and what i have read about victory's knowledge of this problem before and during production of these motorcycles, victory motorcycles should assume responsibility for correcting the problem and do right by their customers who put their trust and faith in the company. i believe victory should be required to issue a corrective recall on all motorcycles which use this transmission. i understand an investigation has been opened on this matter but i don't know what the results are. *nm | |||

| The transmission has shifted hard & loud since i bought the victory. it has also popped out of gear & skipped gears frequently. the problems are most common when shifting 3/2, 2/3, 4/3, 3/4. the dealer said it is just the nature of the beast. i asked another dealer & i was told the same thing. one dealer i spoke with no longer carries the victory line and the other is completely out of business. i am a very experienced technician,and motorcycle rider. it is clear that my victory has a serious transmission concern. i contacted victory,they said they might pay a portion of the repair, as long as the cause is not abuse or lack of maintenance. i would have to pay for the tear down. they would determine the cause and the amount of assistance if any,at that time. i declined at that time. i really felt that victory was trying to rip me off. a month ago the trans started a light rattle noise in all gears. i parked it at that time afraid of a lock up/crash. i know of the transmission problems with early victory motorcycles,and so does victory. its time they do the right thing before more people get hurt. *jb | |||

| 1999 victory v92c had wierd noises in third gear for a while, researched this and found of problems with this year of victory. after asking two different dealers about recalls and fixing problem, decided to wait, so i could save money for the costly repair ($3200??) then one day while downshifting from 4th to 3rd gear there was a horrible noise, then a bunch of gear crushing noise then the transmission locked up and sent me for a 30 to 40 foot?? skid!!! now the bike is just parked until i find out about a recall or any other safety issues with this year and model motorcycle. *ak | |||

| I just purchased the bike from a used bike dealer in georgia and once i got the bike back to north carolina i put about 200 miles on the bike so far and the transmission has given me a false neutral between 2 and 3rd gear about 10-15 times. this can be very dangerous when turning and accelerating on a road with heavy traffic. i contacted the nearest victory dealer and they informed me that since the bike was out of warranty the parts of $2100 plus labor of 14hours would have to be paid by me. i have not done anything to correct this problem since i dont have the money to do so right now. *ak | |||

| On numerous occasions when shifting the transmission from 2nd to 3rd it has defaulted to neutral (with a more noticeable clunk than the normal clunk noise) on several occasions it has slipped out of 1st gear on launch (in traffic with the vehicle behind me getting way too close to my rear fender before i could manage to get it back into gear and continue to accelerate) and on moderate to heavy acceleration on a 2-3 shift it has defaulted to 2nd gear causing a rapid deceleration that was very unnerving and could have caused a loss of control. these conditions all still exist, are all known conditions (by the manufacturer) as the fix is to up grade the transmission parts to a later design which i will do but feel this is a safety issue that should be recalled by the manufacturer at their expense.*jb | |||

| Transmission was poping in and out of 3rd and 4th gear, while riding this spring with a few other couples,my bike locked up in 4th gear causeing me to go into a slide, i kept it under control and thank god the other riders where paying attention,it could of been very serious. i contacted my dealer at turnone motorsporst and he told me that they had 2 more victory's in house with the same problem and one of them only had 1200 miles on it. he than told me that polaris was upgradeing the transmission to the 2003 tranys and that they would cover the parts but not the labor, which i payed $828.87 in out of pocket exspence.i've also filed complaints in the past regaurding this issue when i first notice a problem.*ak | |||

| My 1999 polaris victory motorcycle model v92c which was purchased new in 9-00 would on occasion not shift into gear. the shift would feel normal, just that when i would engage the clutch it would free rev as if it was in neutral. this had become more frequent over the last summer. when i contacted my servicing dealer they stated that they may be able to get me a 'goodwill transmission' from polaris for free, but that i'd have to pay the labor. i took the deal thinking it was the best offer i could get, the total bill for the labor was just shy of $1000. this false neutral as it's commonly referred too can cause several safety issues should someone need to quickly move away from danger on their motorcycles. i believe this situation needs to be researched further and addressed. *jb | |||

| I have a 1999 victory v92c. the transmition gears broke, and the motorcycle would pop out of gear. this would happen when you are driving down the road. this would lock-up the rear tire, and i almost crashed several times! i took the motorcycle into the dealer. they told me that there was a lot of motorcycles that are doing the same thing and the company will not stand behind there motorcycles(about 85% need new transmitions) and was also told that several people have crashed becouse of this! i later payed for the transmition at a cost of $2,144.24 out of my pocked!! this motorcycle only had about 5,000 miles on it! this shouln't be up to the comsumer to take the cost and, treat there life as a gave at the casino!! riding there bike is not a game!? they new there was a problame with the transmitions in late 2000!!, and they will not fix the problame!!! please help!!*ak | |||

| It all started out with getting false neutrals. green light showing for nuetral and then trying to start motorcycle. just about throws you off the bike. down shift at a light and put it in nuetral and let go of clutch and jumps forward and dies.*ak i then started getting shift drops. would shift into third and then it would drop down into second. this would not happen everytime but at least once everytime i ride the bike. now if i want to get on the throttle hard it will not shift into third at all. | |||

| While taking a mortorcycle trip from my home to reno, nv, my 1999 victory v92c started popping out of gear into a neutral state. almost causing me to lose control of the motorcycle. nothing has been done at this point to correct this problem. i am aware of other victory motorcycle owners who have had the same type of problems with these early transmission problems. this motorclycle has only 21,000 miles on it with maintenance done on a regular basis. i believe this to be due to a defective transmission. repair for this will quite costly and should be covered by the manufacturer. | |||

| Bought this motorcycle from a friend of the dealer with very low mileage, at first, when riding going from 2nd to 3rd would go to a false neutral occassionally, now after a bit more riding, this occurs often...on 2 of those occassions was in a tight situation with a car and on 1 occassion was almost hit due to this problem...mentioned this problem to the dealer and was offered a transmission upgrade for a few thousand dollars also when shifting there is a loud clunk....the shock has some kind of defect as when my wife rides with me and we hit a bump her neck and spine gets hurt....the bike shakes tremendously and my headlights have come loose often as well as my tail light. *ak | |||
