POWER TRAIN - MANUAL TRANSMISSION

While accelerating through gears at normal speed and power. i shifted into fourth gear and as i rolled on the throttle at approx 45 miles per hour. the transmission jumped out of 4th gear and down into third gear. this caused the rear wheel to lock up and skid. i was able to engage the clutch and prevent the motorcycle from sliding out. this has happened in the past and i have reported this to nhtsa. the dealership has been unable to recreate problem for service. i believe that this transmission is faulty and needs to be replaced. i have had several occurances of this jumping out of gear and am concerned about a potentially dangerous accident. dt

On four occassions my transmission has slipped from fourth gear down into third gear almost causing an accident. each time i am accelerating and the gear slips down causing my rear wheel to briefly lock and loose traction with the roadway. on the 8/1/02 incident, this occurred while navigating a corner and the motorcycle slid out and i caught myself with my left leg causing soreness. this has occurred several times, 08/01/02, 08/09/02,08/27/02, and 09/09/02. *ak
