In may 2011, i was contemplated riding my motorcycle after sitting for the winter (nov through may). as i checked the bike, i noticed that the brake pedal for the rear brakes had no pressure. i realized my motorcycle had no rear brakes. i called the dealer and was advised to bring the bike in and they would check it, and as a result, they had to bleed the brakes. afterwards, i didn't incur any problems with the bike for the remainder of the summer. during the winter months, again the bike was not used. last month, (may 2012) i took my bike for a ride, again, i experienced problem with the rear brakes. i called the victory dealer again and advised them of the same problem. once again, i was told to bring the bike in and they would bleed the brakes. the technician checked the brakes and then advised me that the master cylinder is bad.the bike has 11,300 miles. there is no leak coming from the brakes or brake lines. i feel that the braking system on these bikes are flawed, and hope that your agency can look into this matter before someone is injured. i implore you to investigate this matter after finding similar problems (during my research) with the master cylinder. i believe there is a defect with the master cylinder part and i would like to be contacted.

1. the events leading up to the failure: we were leaving a parking lot (private property) on a 2008 victory vision motorcycle. we had traveled about four feet when i attempted to increase the throttle. the throttle failed to open with the normal amount of torque. the parking lot was sloping to the left, that is, we were traveling across a slope. the loss of the needed increased forward momentum immediately caused a reduction in the stability of the motorcycle. the distance to the ground on the left side of the motorcycle was greater than the right , due to the slope. the loss of forward momentum reduced greatly the stability of the motorcycle. the motorcycle fell to the left. i was able to partially brace the fall with my left foot. neither my wife nor i suffered any injuries. i sprained my left ankle, and my wife hit her arm on the trunk. injuries did not require medical attention. my wife is a registered nurse. the design of the motorcycle caused very little damage and prevented my leg from being pinned beneath the motorcycle. 2. the failure, how often it occurs, its consequences: this is about the seventh or eight time it has occurred. it was first noticed and brought to the attention of the dealer following his replacement of a failed cylinder head. the consequences are a loss of forward momentum, endangering the stability of the motorcycle. it occurs on when attempting to open a closed throttle. a marked increase in the torque required to provide a given increase in engine speed is noticed. if caught off guard, it can require the operator to increase greatly the torque applied to the throttle, and require quick reaction. 3. what was done to correct the failure: it was returned to the dealer on three occasions. the dealer was unable to find the trouble. after the most recent attempt he said he tried, along with the manufacturer to find the problem. no parts were replaced or repaired. please refer to number 1. *tr

Belt drive for 2008 victory vision motorcycle secondary sprocket does not stay tensioned. numerous complaints from many customers have been noted at dealerships. this issue will eventually lead to injury/damage if gone unchecked. my new motorcycle has been adjusted twice due to this issue and needs to be done again after only 1500 miles. symptoms include rear, right hand side squealing and/or chirping when the drive train is under load. similar reports have been made to several victory dealerships. professional victory technicians admit they have seen the problems but victory will not agree to replacement of defective sprockets. i am parking my motorcycle until this is resolved. recommend a bulletin that others do the same. thank you very much. *tr

After the bike sat for the winter, i found i had no rear brakes. the dealer bled the brakes and they worked fine for about 6 weeks and then went out again; they bled them again. when i rode the other day i noticed the rear brake pedal is going down again. i hate to think what would happen at 70 mph if someone pulled out in front of me and i had to stop quickly.
