The oil pan in the above mentioned vechile that i own had to be changed due to a design problem. the manufacturer had put a aluminum pan with a steel bolt. the steel bolt over the years corroded the pan necessiating a replacement of the pan. fitzgerald automall (410-224-3480) in annapolis md replaced the pan free of labor but charged me for the oil pan. they did inform me that it was a design problem that vw has since rectified in the newer models and that i had to contact the manufacturer for reimbursement. when i contacted vw, they refused to reimburse me stating that the vehicle was not under warranty. they informed it was under their discretion to rectify the defect in newer models and were not responsible for older models. in my opinion vw should reimburse me and also recall all their vehicles with this issue to be addressed appropriately. please contact me at the above address if something can be done about this or not. thanks david

First, vehicle's electronic locks stop responding to depresses from both remotes. replace the batteries to the remote and still the car will not respond. the only way to open the door is by manually inserting the key into the drivers side, which is the only manual keyhole, and turning left twice. once turn unlocks the driver's side door, another turn unlocks the passenger doors. after some time passenger doors stop responding to second turn. passenger doors do no lock when manually turning key the right from the driver side door, which is the only manual keyhole. the passenger doors that do not lock cause the alarm to go off when opened. depressing the silence alarm button on key fob does not silence alarm. the only way to silence alarm is by closing passenger door, closing driver side door and turning key right once to lock and left to unlock. doing so only control driver side door. after some time dashboard shows door open symbol even when all doors are securely closed and indicator light on door is off. dome light stays on while driving as if the doors are indeed open even though they are securely closed. at this stage the alarm system no longer works either by key fob depress nor by manually turning the lock in the drivers side door as described earlier. doors must be locked by opening each one manually and pressing the lock door button located on each passenger door. pressing the drivers side door lock does not lock passenger doors. all fuses are intact and no electrical issues reported.

Camshaft began knocking around 100,000 miles. many other '06 jetta tdi have had premature camshaft failures as well. knocking intensified just before 101,000 miles. took it to mechanic who was very familiar with the issue, as he has seen more than his share. he said the earliest failure he has seen was at around 40,000 miles. i had to go to great expense to replace cam follower, camshaft and cam bearings. it also caused premature wear on my lifters, which i expect i'll have to do soon, as they are starting to tick. i love my tdi, and have made sure all service was done promptly. i am frustrated that vwag has denied there is a problem. if enough people complain, then they will have to admit that poor engineering is the cause of the premature camshaft failures that are plaguing pumpe duse owners.

I was in 2 accidents i don't remember the dates, but one was in the latter part of 2010 and another was in 2008. in both accidents the air bags failed to deploy, the air bag light never goes off, even before the accidents. i had this light reset about 3 times, the first time was through the dealer and the others where through auto mechanic shop. the dealer wants to charge me $250 to fix the light problem, they say it has something to do with the seat belt buckle. i really think that this has been a safety problem and that there have been many complaints inregard to this matter. yet the dealer does not want to accept responsibility.

The car looses power/ acceleration while im drving, the prnds light and others start going on and flashing on dash. its in the dealership as of march 12, 2012 and they are charging me for changing the metatronic unit in the transmission. vw had a recall done on the 2008-2010 vw's with the dsg transmissions but not the earlier ones like mine 2006. iam experiencing the same thing as the others have and am wondering why is my car/ year not included in the recall. i have the same bad transmission in my car that they produced in the later years. i need to get my car fixed, this is a big saftey issue to me and my family.

Volkswagen jetta 2006 headliner fabric failure. separation of headliner fabric from headliner, creating a visibility obstruction. possibly a danger to the drivers visibility. clear manufactuers defect due to the amount of research done online. a substantial amount of owners have the same complaint. i have contacted volkswagen directly. they have yet to initiate a mass recall on 2006 volkswagen jetta headliners, despite the numerous complaints brought to light by owners.

The instrument cluster, gear indicator, odometer, radio, outside temperature, compass, mpg, speed monitor and controls all the lighting features on car has failed. according to the service manager i deal with he told me that he has seen many of these clusters fail in 2005,06 jetta's and passat's. the cost to replace is $650+ i feel this is a known manufacturing defect that vw does not want the public to know about. i can't read my odometer or even read what gear i am in. it is a safety concern. can you help with this. i feel sorry for all the other vw owners that have a failed instrument cluster.

Vehicle has 74,000 & the transmission failed on the highway with no prior issues or warnings. vw of america has refused to help because it is out of warranty however i know they are having serious issues with the typtronic and many transmissions have failed between 50k-70k miles. i was told this vehicle was already recalled in austrailia.
